  • Patent number: 8206475
Abstract: Ejector devices and systems are provided, that entrain ambient air within a primary stream of pressurized air, for use in a variety of applications including aircraft, buildings and other stationary structures. The ejector draws ambient air through an air treatment means such as a filter before its entrainment within the primary stream. The combined streams are then delivered to a ventilation system, an air curtain or other suitable recipient of treated, thermally conditioned air. The systems include diffusers, air curtain systems and variable air volume ventilation systems for aircraft and other vehicles.

  • Patent number: 8140970
Abstract: A method for displaying a virtual keyboard with a semi-transparent overlay of an end user's hands. The method begins by receiving a video signal comprising an image of a keyboard and at least one hand belonging to the end user. Next the method creates a virtual keyboard comprising an outline for each key residing in the image of the keyboard. After creating the virtual keyboard, the method sends to a computer screen the virtual keyboard overlaying on top of the image of the keyboard. The overlaying giving an appearance that keys residing in the image of the keyboard obscured by the end user's hand are now visible.

  • Publication number: 20120065103
Abstract: Prolyl endopeptidase (PE) activity in lung samples is detected by contacting the lung sample with a probe comprising a —P—X— (or —X—P—, —P—X—P—) PE recognition site, wherein P is a prolyl bioisostere, X is a residue that is not a prolyl bioisostere or is a prolyl bioisostere flanked on each side by a residue that is not a prolyl bioisostere, and “-” is an amide bond, under conditions wherein PE activity of the sample specifically hydrolyzes an amide bond of the recognition site to generate an optical signal; and (b) detecting the signal.

  • Patent number: 8019811
Abstract: Response delay associated with a state-based client-server application can be reduced with utilization of an application state server-side cache. A server caches data for a set of one or more possible states of a client-server application that may follow a current state of the application. The server rapidly responds to a client request with data that corresponds to an appropriate new state of the application in accordance with the application state server-side cache. The server determines that the application will transition to the appropriate new state from the current state of the application with the application state server-side cache based, at least in part, on an operation indicated by the client request.

  • Publication number: 20110197175
Abstract: A modification method and system. The method includes retrieving by a computer processor of a computing system a list of features and plug-ins associated with an application. The features include features version metadata and the plug-ins include plug-ins version metadata. The computer processor compares features source code associated with the features with previous versions of associated source code. The computer processor generates modified features version metadata associated with the features version metadata. The modified features version metadata includes updated version labels differing from previous version labels of the previous versions of associated source code. The features are assembled into an application.

  • Publication number: 20090163131
Abstract: The apparatus and method provide an airflow to a person or group of persons or a space such as within an airplane cabin or cockpit, operating in conjunction with an air supply which produces a high velocity air stream, such as an aircraft gasper (14). Existing systems may filter, purify and/or clean the air supplied to the occupant, and the air exiting the personal air outlet may be adjusted to a relatively high velocity. The narrow, high velocity stream of air forms a turbulent boundary layer, which tends to entrain potentially foul air from the surrounding region and directs it towards the passenger. The airflow from the apparatus and method may have reduced velocity and lower thermal and humidity gradient and may be treated to remove locally-originating contaminants. The apparatus includes a housing which receives a primary stream of air, such as from an aircraft gasper (14) or personal air outlet.

  • Patent number: 7529329
Abstract: A clock and data recovery circuit (CDR) for receiving high-speed digital data, and having an analog phase offset control capability, is improved by providing an adaptive sampling edge position control. A differential circuit samples the raw data signal at three closely spaced sampling points of the eye, and compares advanced and delayed sampled data with the nominal sampled data. If either the advanced or delayed sampled data differ from the nominal sampled data, i.e. if advanced or delayed errors are detected, a shift in the sampling edge position may be required. A logic circuit performs a method determining the occurrence of advanced or delayed errors over progressively longer time intervals, and to adjust the sampling edge position of the CDR by controlling the phase offset.
