  • Patent number: 9004661
Abstract: The disclosed print head has a two-chamber main reservoir that decouples wasted ink and purge volume in print heads. The two-chamber structure of the print head allows for varying flow of ink through the print head's internal manifolds without varying the wasted ink out of the jet stack. The main reservoir of the print head includes a recirculation chamber and an incoming ink chamber. A vacuum is applied to a vent in the recirculation chamber and a pressure can also be applied to a vent in the incoming ink chamber to cause bubbles in the jet stack to move into the recirculation chamber and be removed through the recirculation chamber vent.

  • Publication number: 20150054878
Abstract: Print head jet stack heating and temperature measurement systems and methods are disclosed that both heat the jet stack and determine a temperature of the jet stack. The heating and temperature determination are performed by a flex circuit that includes multiple layers. One of the layers heats the jet stack and another one of the layers provides data that determines the temperature of the jet stack. The heating layer and the temperature sensing layer are separated by an insulative material in the flex circuit. The temperature of the jet stack can be sent to a print head controller that then determines whether to increase or decrease the temperature of the jet stack.

  • Patent number: 8801918
Abstract: Methods and devices for point of care determination of heparin concentration in blood are described. Cartridges including protamine ion sensitive electrodes (ISEs) and reference electrodes and systems for automatically determining heparin concentration in the cartridges are provided. Some systems add blood to a protamine bolus sufficient to bind all heparin, leaving excess protamine. The excess protamine concentration can be determined by measuring the initial slope of the electrode potential rate of change, and comparing the slope to known protamine concentration slope values In some cartridges, an oscillating pressure source moves the blood-protamine mixture back and forth across the protamine ISE. Some systems also use a second blood sample having the heparin removed or degraded to create a blank reference sample. Protamine ISEs can include polyurethane polymer, DNNS ionophore, and NPOE plasticizer.

  • Patent number: 8798586
Abstract: An apparatus, and an associated methodology, provides control over operation of a voice-only, cellular mobile phone by an enterprise. An enterprise server provides selection of the operating capabilities of the voice-only wireless device. Once selected, the wireless device is caused to be provisioned to operate in conformity with the selected policy. Rather than sole control of the operational capability of the wireless device by a network operator, i.e., carrier, control of some operational capabilities of the device is carried out directly by enterprise personnel.
