  • Publication number: 20120100896
Abstract: It is possible to provide a radio communication terminal device, a radio communication base station device, and a radio communication method capable of rapidly completing a handover even during DRX/DTX. In the devices and the method, a terminal (100) transmits a quality measurement result to a base station (150) at an Active interval. Here, the terminal (100) sets the DRX/DTX interval to a short interval since performance of a handover is predicted. The base station (150) which has received the quality measurement result transmitted from the terminal (100) recognizes that the terminal has set the DRX/DTX interval to a short interval and transmits a handover instruction to the terminal (100) at the Active interval, considering the shortened DRX/DTX interval.

  • Patent number: 8125962
Abstract: In a mobile terminal of a wireless communication system, such as UMTS or any future communication system, the actual reception quality of data received on a broadcast channel, such as BCCH or MTCH, is measured. Based on the measurement result, a report is prepared and sent to a radio network controller, which controls the transmission on the broadcast channel. The report does not contain the identifier of the mobile terminal. Therefore the reporting can be accomplished without informing the radio network controller about the identity of the mobile terminal.

  • Patent number: 7860052
Abstract: The invention relates to a mobile terminal communicating resource requests for dedicated uplink channel resources in a mobile communication system. Further, the invention also relates to a method for communicating resource requests for dedicated uplink channel resources in a mobile communication system. To allow the serving cell to detect “DOWN” commands from non-serving cells during soft handover the invention suggests a new definition of criteria for setting the “happy bit” in the control information associated to data transmitted on dedicated uplink channels. According to these criteria the mobile terminal may not indicate an unhappy condition while ramping up resource utilization. Only if resources equivalent to the maximum serving grant are utilized, the transmission buffer status requires to and the power status of the terminal allows for the happy bit is set to indicate a unhappy condition.

  • Publication number: 20100118781
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitting data via a protocol sublayer of the mobile node during e.g. a handover that comprises the re-establishment of the protocol sublayer. The mobile node anticipates the handover, and has therefore more time to empty its transmission buffer of the protocol sublayer. Also, the segmentation of service data units (SDUs) into protocol data units (PDUs) is halted upon detecting the upcoming handover. The remaining unacknowledged PDUs in the buffer are then re-transmitted to the source base station such that the source base station can reassemble the corresponding SDUs. Also, the UE may prioritize the re-transmission of the unacknowledged PDUs depending on the priorities of the respective radio bearers. Therefore, after performing the handover to the target base station, the previously transmitted PDUs do not have to be transmitted again, as would be the case when no retransmission of unacknowledged PDUs takes place.
