  • Publication number: 20050017206
Abstract: A gas sensor, which could be a sensor of combustible gases, incorporates a diffusion chamber having symmetrical sensing and reference portions. A common source emits infrared-type radiant energy symmetrically into the two portions. Each portion incorporates a curved reflective surface which reflects incident infrared onto a respective sensor. Each sensor has a filter which passes a different selected band of energy. A fluid, such as gas being sensed, passes laterally through the chamber.

  • Publication number: 20040208160
Abstract: A method of retransmission protocol reset synchronisation in a radio network of a communication system, said radio network including at least one radio network controller RNC for controlling a plurality of base stations in communication with mobile terminals, wherein the RNC communicates with a communication terminal using a radio link control RLC procedure and the plurality of base stations communicate with the mobile terminals using a medium access control MAC procedure, comprising the steps of initiating a RLC reset procedure upon occurrence of an unrecoverable protocol error and initiating a MAC reset procedure in response to a RLC reset procedure.

  • Publication number: 20040039405
Abstract: In a vascular anchoring device intended to be introduced into a blood vessel by a catheter and including braces (2) that are expandable in the radial direction, the anchoring device is formed by a substantially hollow-cylindrical part (1) including axially extending braces (2) departing from an end side, and a locking member (3) coaxially guided within the hollow-cylindrical part (1) along a guide wire (4) of the catheter. The locking member (3) carries at least one ramp surface (9) on its end facing the braces (2), which ramp surface causes the braces (2) to expand by an axial displacement relative to the braces (2), and at least one stop (10) cooperating with the hollow-cylindrical part (1) in the expanded position. The guide wire (4) carries a further stop (7) which cooperates with a counter stop surface (8) of the locking member (3), or a stop surface of the hollow-cylindrical part (1), upon displacement of the guide wire (4).

  • Patent number: 6521907
Abstract: A low profile, low volume smoke chamber displaces a light source, such as a light emitting diode or laser diode, and a sensor, such as photodiode or phototransistor, to the exterior of the sensing volume. A symmetrical sensing volume results which can be coupled to symmetrical input/output ports via a generally U-shaped flow path. A two part sensing chamber housing is formed with a lower cylindrical base portion and an upper cylindrical cover portion which slideably engage one another. At least the upper cylindrical portion carries a plurality of grooves for suppression of reflections and collection of dust. An exterior end of the upper portion carries a plurality of spaced apart openings which can be filled with a screen. A reduced sensing volume in combination with a selected screen size produces an acceptable signal to noise ratio and response rate while still excluding insects and other non-smoke related particulate matter.

  • Publication number: 20030020617
Abstract: A sensor of incident ambient photons is combined, in a detector with one or more sensors responsive to other types of ambient parameters such as gas, humidity, temperature or the like. Outputs from the sensors are processed to establish the existence of one of a hazardous condition, a non-hazardous condition and a false alarm.
