  • Publication number: 20060182065
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for providing measurements on a bit-rate provided to scheduled data having a guaranteed bit-rate and being transmitted on at least one dedicated uplink data channel by at least user equipment via a C-RNC. Further, the invention also relates to a method for initiating congestion control for scheduled data of at least one guaranteed bit-rate priority class in a mobile communication system. Moreover, the invention relates to a C-RNC as well as a serving radio network controller performing these methods. To enable the C-RNC within a mobile communication system to perform congestion control for uplink transmissions having a guaranteed bit-rate the invention suggests to provide the C-RNC with a bit-rate being provided to scheduled data of the guaranteed bit-rate priority class using common or dedicated measurement procedures. This provided bit-rate is evaluated and taken as a basis for deciding on whether congestion control for data of the priority class needs to be performed.

  • Patent number: 7087069
Abstract: In a vascular anchoring device intended to be introduced into a blood vessel by a catheter and including braces (2) that are expandable in the radial direction, the anchoring device is formed by a substantially hollow-cylindrical part (1) including axially extending braces (2) departing from an end side, and a locking member (3) coaxially guided within the hollow-cylindrical part (1) along a guide wire (4) of the catheter. The locking member (3) carries at least one ramp surface (9) on its end facing the braces (2), which ramp surface causes the braces (2) to expand by an axial displacement relative to the braces (2), and at least one stop (10) cooperating with the hollow-cylindrical part (1) in the expanded position. The guide wire (4) carries a further stop (7) which cooperates with a counter stop surface (8) of the locking member (3), upon displacement of the guide wire (4).

  • Publication number: 20060018277
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling by a base station the scheduling mode used by a mobile terminal for carrying out uplink data transmissions within a mobile communication network and to a base station performing this method. In order to provide a mechanism for scheduling mode switching on the network side the invention suggests to receive feedback for controlling scheduling of uplink data transmission between the mobile terminal and the base station, to estimate the buffer occupancy at the mobile terminal based on the feedback received, and to switch the mobile terminal from a scheduling mode presently used for uplink transmission to another scheduling mode based on the estimated buffer occupancy. In particular “rate up” requests in a rate controlled scheduling mode and buffer occupancy reports or traffic volume measurements may be used to estimate the buffer occupancy at the mobile terminal.

  • Publication number: 20050288040
Abstract: A method for notification in communication systems is disclosed, in which a sequence of K notification indicators is assigned to a notification identifier like for example a MBMS service identifier or service group identifier of UMTS. The K notification indicators are transmitted one per frame in a cyclic manner. To obtain the notification indicator identifiers indexing the notification indicators in each frame, the plurality of notification identifiers is arranged in a K-dimensional space. Each of the K coordinates of this space can assume Nni values, where Nni is the number of notification indicators signalled per frame. The ith coordinate Xi,n of the point to where the nth notification sequence is mapped in the K-dimensional space, forms the identifier for the notification indicator belonging to the nth notification sequence in the frame with the frame number satisfying the equation i=M mod K.

  • Publication number: 20050282528
Abstract: A power-saving and reliable method for detecting notifications in a communication device is disclosed comprising the steps of successively receiving a finite set of notification indicators from a communication network, which in combination represent a notification identifier associated with the device; subsequently checking each received notification indicator whether it is positive or negative; determining, after each checked notification indicator and based on the checked notification indicators, whether to proceed with the next notification indicator or to decide on a presence of a notification for the predetermined notification identifier; and, if it is determined that a decision is to be made, interrupting the checking of notification before all notification indicators of the set have been checked and deciding, based on the checked notification indicators, whether a notification for the predetermined notification identifier is assumed to be present or not.

  • Publication number: 20050220040
Abstract: A method of controlling the data rate of transmitting data packets in a wireless communications system comprising transmitter communicating with at least one receiver by means of radio communication signals employing at least one automatic repeat request (ARQ) or a hybrid ARC protocol. The data packets are allocated to at least one logical channel which is mapped on at least one physical downlink communication channel for transmission from the transmitter to the receiver. The receiver transmits signaling information relating to the receipt of said data packets in an uplink feedback channel to the transmitter. According to the invention, the data rate control is based on the receiver's current capability to process the amount of received data packets comprised in the communication signals. Further, the signaling information in the uplink feedback channel comprises a request to control the data rate in at least one logical channel.

  • Publication number: 20050207374
Abstract: S-RNC 1060 determines the need for the combined radio link addition and serving HS-DSCH cell change based on received measurement reports, and makes a decision for starting an active set update and cell change procedure (process 1070). After that, it notifies immediately to source base station (Source Node B) 1050 that the decision on active set update was done (signaling 2). Source Node B 1050 transmits an ACTIVATION TIME NEGOTIATION REQUEST message (signaling 3) to S-RNC 1060. S-RNC 1060 transmits an ACTIVATION TIME NEGOTIATION RESPONSE message (signaling 4) to Source Node B 1050. Source Node B 1050 knows activation time through this, and ceases capacity assignment for transmitting data to UE 1030, while transmitting buffered packets to UE 1030 with a priority made higher than those of other UEs.

  • Publication number: 20050017206
Abstract: A gas sensor, which could be a sensor of combustible gases, incorporates a diffusion chamber having symmetrical sensing and reference portions. A common source emits infrared-type radiant energy symmetrically into the two portions. Each portion incorporates a curved reflective surface which reflects incident infrared onto a respective sensor. Each sensor has a filter which passes a different selected band of energy. • Patent number: 6521907
Abstract: A low profile, low volume smoke chamber displaces a light source, such as a light emitting diode or laser diode, and a sensor, such as photodiode or phototransistor, to the exterior of the sensing volume. A symmetrical sensing volume results which can be coupled to symmetrical input/output ports via a generally U-shaped flow path. A two part sensing chamber housing is formed with a lower cylindrical base portion and an upper cylindrical cover portion which slideably engage one another. At least the upper cylindrical portion carries a plurality of grooves for suppression of reflections and collection of dust. An exterior end of the upper portion carries a plurality of spaced apart openings which can be filled with a screen. A reduced sensing volume in combination with a selected screen size produces an acceptable signal to noise ratio and response rate while still excluding insects and other non-smoke related particulate matter.
