    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for scheduling data retransmissions, a method for use in a data retransmission scheme and a method for updating a soft buffer of a base station in a mobile communication system during a soft-handover. The present invention relates to a base station executing the controlling and updating method, a communication terminal for executing the scheduling method and to a mobile communication system comprising at least one the base station and communication terminal. To prevent erroneous combining of data packets in a packet retransmission scheme at the receiver, the present invention provides a method that may flush the soft buffer region associated to a received data packet upon its correct reception. Further, a method is provided that monitors the time elapsed since the last storing of a data packet in a buffer region of a base station to be able to trigger the flush of the buffer region upon expiry of a threshold time period.

    Abstract: Method for informing a mobile terminal on target cell-specific system information to facilitate a mobility procedure such as handover or cell reselection in a mobile communication network. The invention suggests improvements to current mobility procedures so as to reduce the interruption time implied by the procedures. More specifically, it is proposed to include at least one pointer to target cell-specific system information to a control message, such as a handover indication or connection release message, pointing the mobile terminal to system information in the target cell relevant for system access and/or to perform mobility procedures. Further, a portion of the target cell-specific system information may also be comprised in the control message.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an improved paging procedure for mobile nodes in a mobile communication system. A UE in idle mode is paged by a network entity via a selectable frequency subband of the system bandwidth. For every resource block, comprising part of the paging message or a diversity repetition thereof, a respective frequency subband is selected based on various parameters. These parameters may include: load in the subbands, UE capability in the tracking area and/or importance of paging information within the resource block. Furthermore, additional parity bits may be transmitted instead of the diversity repetition of the paging message, wherein the resource blocks, comprising the additional parity bits, are also transmitted via selectable frequency subbands. Thereby, the delay for changing from the idle to the active state of a mobile node may be reduced by increasing reliability of paging message transmission and resources may be utilized more efficiently.

    Abstract: Method for informing a mobile terminal (MN), which is located in a first cell, on system information of a second cell. In particular, pointers to the system information are transmitted from the base station of the first cell to the mobile node, while the mobile node is located in the first cell. The MN processes said pointer, comprising e.g. information on the transmission format and timing of system information in the second cell. Using an acquisition gap assigned by the network, the MN changes the frequency to the second frequency so as to acquire the system information based on the previously received scheduling information. Thus, the acquisition time for important system information may be reduced, as no Master Information Block on the second frequency has to be processed first, in order to acquire the system information.

A HARQ method sending synchronous retransmissions involves a feedback message received from the receiving entity at the transmitting entity and, in case the feedback message indicates that the data packet has not been received successfully, a retransmission data packet is transmitted to the receiving entity after a predetermined time span upon having received the feedback message. The receiving entity soft combines the retransmission data packet with the previously received data packet.
