  • Publication number: 20010029769
Abstract: A forming die includes a base and at least two die segments. At least a first one of the die segments is moveably mounted to the base for shifting between closed and opened positions. The die segments together define a cavity having an opening when the first die segment is in the closed position. A punch is moveably mounted to the base for shifting between a retracted position and an extended position wherein the punch crimps a part positioned within the cavity. A powered actuator is connected to at least the first one of the die segments, and shifts the first die segment between the closed and opened positions such that a part positioned within the cavity can be removed after crimping by shifting of the first die segment to the open position. The forming die is particularly well-suited for crimping electrochemical cells.

  • Patent number: 6193391
Abstract: A modular lamp assembly and method of assembling same is provided. The modular lamp assembly includes a lamp/ballast subassembly and a reflector which is positioned in a space provided between the lamp and the ballast. The reflector is unassembled in relation to the lamp and the ballast so that if the lamp or ballast are defective, the reflector may be readily removed from the subassembly and placed between a lamp and ballast of a replacement subassembly. The lamp/ballast subassembly, including the reflector, are held in place within a housing by sandwiching the ballast and the reflector between interior surfaces of the housing and a housing cover which contains an opening aligned with the lamp.

  • Patent number: 6167388
Abstract: The present invention relates to an automated system for specifying radiant tube heating systems. The automated specification system calculates the heat loss for a structure and adjusts the heat loss value according to deviations from standard radiant heating system installations. The specification system provides the user with burner and tube layout parameters in conjunction with an input menu for receiving the accessory equipment inputs of the radiant tube heating system. The specification system retrieves equipment specifications from a product database in response to user inputs and presents the user with a complete specification package for the specified radiant tube heating system.

  • Patent number: 6055769
Abstract: The floral arrangement holder has a base which supports a foam block in contact with the upper surface of the base. Drain holes are provided so that any excess water can run into the hollow base portion. Recessed reservoir channels are provided in the upper surface of the base, to allow any excess water in one portion of the block to flow to a drier portion, and to allow water to wick upwardly into the block from the channels. A filling area extends outwardly from the base for convenient access, and has an upper surface which preferably is angled slightly downwardly towards the channels for better distribution of the water. The filling area also doubles as a convenient hand grip, by virtue of being provided with finger recesses. A clip arrangement holds the foam block in place. An elongated version of the holder holds two such blocks, and includes an extended end portion to provide greater-water storage capacity, particularly useful if the holder is suspended via an apertured tab at the opposite end.
