  • Patent number: 9141270
Abstract: A navigational user interface element includes a navigational bar displaying thereon labels associated with a plurality of sections, and a highlight indicating a section of a page that a user is currently viewing. The navigational user interface element is configured to allow a user to click on the highlight and drag it to effect navigation to a section associated with a displayed label. The navigational user interface element is configured to, when the highlight is clicked and dragged and then released, snap the highlight to the section label the highlight is closest to when the highlight is released, and display that same section. The navigational user interface element is configured to, when a label is clicked, effect navigation to the section corresponding to that label.

  • Publication number: 20140228857
Abstract: In an automated method for in vivo multiple cell patch clamping, cell patch clamping devices are automatically moved into position and targeted to multiple corresponding cells. Cell contact is determined by analyzing the temporal series of measured resistance levels at the clamping devices as they are moved. The difference between successive resistance levels is computed and compared to a threshold, which must be exceeded for a minimum number of computations before neuron contact is assumed. Pneumatic control methods are used to achieve cell-attached or gigaseal formation and subsequent cell break-in, leading to whole-cell patch clamp formation. An automated robotic system automatically performs patch clamping in vivo, automatically detecting cells according to the methodology by analyzing the temporal sequence of electrode impedance changes.

  • Patent number: 8769579
Abstract: An apparatus such as a mobile television signal receiver includes a channel history feature. Methods for adding channels to the channel history, tuning channels from the channel history, and generally maintaining the channel history are provided. According to an exemplary embodiment, a method for adding a channel to channel history includes a step of adding a selected channel to the channel history if the channel meets a criterion. According to an exemplary embodiment, a method for tuning channels includes steps of receiving a useable program signal from a first channel, testing for presence of a useable program from a second channel without interrupting the receiving step, and if the useable program signal from the second channel is detected, tuning the second channel.

  • Patent number: 8767984
Abstract: Apparatus for reproduction of stereo sound from a two channel signal, having one or more first transducers (3a, 3b) for reproducing a signal comprising one of or the sum of the two channels, and one or more second transducers (5) for reproducing a signal comprising the difference between the two channels. The apparatus is arranged such that the signal generated by the one or more first transducers (3a, 3b) is transmitted from an output plane in a direction substantially orthogonal to the output plane. The apparatus also has a duct (6) associated with the one or more second transducers (5) and is arranged to conduct the signal generated by the one or more second transducers (5) such that it is transmitted along a direction substantially parallel to the output plane from a point spaced from the plane in the direction in which the signal generated by the one or more first transducers (3a, 3b) is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 8553914
Abstract: Apparatus for reproducing stereo sound having a housing (1, 25) defining an at least partially enclosed space. A first transducer (7) or pair of transducers (28, 29) is provided and arranged to reproduce one, both or the sum of two audio signals. A pair of transducers (10, 32) is also provided and arranged to reproduce a signal comprising the difference of the two audio signals. As the transducers communicate with the at least partially enclosed space, and the transducers arranged to reproduce the difference between the two audio signals are each arranged to direct their output primarily in a direction generally at right angles to the direction in which the first transducer or pair of transducers primarily direct their output. The apparatus may be arranged to be placed on or adjacent a generally flat surface, and the transducers arranged to reproduce the difference of the two audio signals may be arranged to direct their output towards the flat surface.

  • Publication number: 20130073999
Abstract: Tool bars are provided along lateral edges of a display of a handheld computing device. The tool bars include icons that represent application features. The user may interact with the application by touching the icons on the display. Since mobile computing devices are commonly held at the lateral sides of the device, navigation and activation buttons are in close proximity to a natural location of a user's thumbs. The proximity of the tool bars to the thumbs increases efficiency and accuracy when interacting with the application. The tool bars may be displayed in an expanded state such that a text label may be displayed to identify the application feature that each icon represents. The tool bars may also include functionality that displays additional information for any of the application features represented by the icons without navigating the application away from the current screen.

  • Patent number: 7625485
Abstract: A stormwater treatment system including a substantially water impermeable treatment container for treating stormwater through a bioretention mechanism. The treatment container includes an overflow/bypass opening to receive stormwater that bypasses the treatment container filter media, or is only partially treated as a result of high stormwater flows in excess of the capacity of the container to treat the stormwater. The stormwater is directed into the container through an inlet, such as an inlet pipe, preferably connected to a roof drain system for processing and treating stormwater from the roof of a building. The overflow/bypass opening may be adjacent the top wall or bottom wall of the container.
