  • Publication number: 20250138901
Abstract: Techniques for implementing and utilizing capacity cluster resource reservations are described. A managed compute service receives a user's request to identify a capacity block for use in launching compute instances. A schedule with pre-computed blocks, each corresponding to an amount of instances and an amount of time, is used to identify a block satisfying the request's criteria. The user can later obtain the capacity block and launch instances into the reservation during its time window, where placement rules associated with the reservation ensure the instances are hosted in locations enabling low-latency intercommunications.

  • Publication number: 20250117999
Abstract: Computer processing systems and computer implemented methods for determining an arrangement of elements of a design are described. The arrangement may be into rows or columns. Collections of elements for rows and/or columns are determined based on overlap of the elements along a dimension prior to arrangement. Each collection may be arranged within an area of the design into a row or column. In some embodiments an initial arrangement into both rows and columns is determined and a final arrangement is determined based on which arrangement results in a least total overlap area of the elements.

  • Publication number: 20250109687
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for identification of zones of high producibility in shale reservoirs. The method includes obtaining a Total Organic Carbon (TOC) content and an organic sulfur content of a formation interval using geochemical measurements and determining a dielectric dispersion response of the formation interval using dielectric measurements. The dielectric dispersion response is processed to obtain a pore system tortuosity parameter. The pore system tortuosity parameter is correlated with a ratio of the organic sulfur content to the TOC content to identify presence of zones of mature kerogen with high or low hydrocarbon producibility, immature kerogen with a presence of clay, and on-productive or over-mature zones within the formation interval. This correlation is performed by comparing the ratio of the organic sulfur content to the TOC to an organic matter maturity threshold and comparing the pore system tortuosity parameter to a pore system tortuosity parameter threshold.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for load balancing by a sustainability aware load balancer are provided. The load balancer collects power consumption metrics for each server endpoint in a topology. The power consumption is based on a workload and characteristics of a plurality of transactions on the server. A machine learning regression model based is built on the collected power consumption metrics. A target server is selected for the transaction, based on the machine learning regression model identifying the server consuming the least amount of power while meeting service level agreements, and the transaction is routed to the target server.

  • Patent number: 12242362
Abstract: A computer-implemented method, a computer program product, and a computer system for data sharding and topology alterations for disaster recovery preparation. A computer system estimates time needed to copy a data store of a data center that is assumed offline. A computer system determines whether the time needed is greater than a recovery time objective (RTO). A computer system creates a data shard for the data store, in response to determining that the time needed is greater than the RTO. Prior to the data center being offline, a computer system alters a current topology of the data store in a network connecting multiple data centers, by copying the data shard to a destination data center that does not contain the data store in the current topology, where, with an altered topology, the RTO is met in an event of the data center being offline.
