  • Patent number: 11628537
Abstract: A grinding machine and a method for grinding large crankshafts are disclosed. During pre-grinding, steady-rest seats are ground, and a plurality of steady rests are placed against them. Synchronous electric drives drive the crankshaft at both ends. A desired shape is produced by interpolating motion of a first grinding disk about CNC-controlled X and Z axes and about a WK pivot axis. The grinding disk is a CBN grinding disk with a width less than the axial length of the main journals and crankpins of the crankshaft. Diameters are measured along the axial length of the main journals and/or crankpins by an in-process device. The drives for the X1, Z1, and WK axes are controlled in an interpolating manner on the basis of the measurements to achieve the desired shape.

  • Patent number: 11383342
Abstract: A method and a cylindrical grinding machine for centerless cylindrical grinding of a workpiece. The workpiece is supported on a first contact surface and a second contact surface arranged at an angle relative to one another. A grinding disk is applied to the workpiece with an application force, whereby the workpiece is in turn pressed against the first and second contact surfaces, which cause braking of the workpiece (which is rotationally driven solely by the grinding disk). The braking reduces the rotational speed of the workpiece such that the grinding disk produces grinding in addition to rotationally driving the workpiece. The rotational speed of the workpiece can be precisely set by means of an additional brake that applies an adjustable braking force to the workpiece.

  • Publication number: 20220090522
Abstract: A method for introducing combustion air into a cylinder (25) of an internal combustion engine, a high-pressure inlet valve (1) provided therefor and an internal combustion engine that operates using the method and the high-pressure inlet valve are described. All the combustion air for the respective cylinders (25) is introduced into the cylinder (25) of the internal combustion engine, by means of a high-pressure inlet valve (1) arranged in the relevant cylinder head (26) and on the basis of a controlled mass flow, such that mixture formation and charge exchange are intensified. In addition, the temperature and/or pressure of the combustion air is measured and the quantity of combustion air is introduced into the cylinder (25), in a controlled manner and on the basis of the measurement results, by means of the high-pressure inlet valve (1) by opening or closing a sliding piston (3) of the high-pressure inlet valve (1) by displacement.

  • Patent number: 11260501
Abstract: A grinding machine and a method for measuring and producing a target outer contour is disclosed, particularly for a pin-bearing journal of a crankshaft. First, a measurement device acquires measurement values for the dimensions and shape of a workpiece in at least two measurement planes that are spaced apart and extend transversely to a longitudinal extension of a workpiece region. The measurement planes are produced by a relative movement of the workpiece region and the measurement device in a Z axis direction, relative to the movement of a grinding disc in the direction of the Z-axis thereof. These measurement values are transmitted to a CNC system for advancing a grinding disc, such that any deviations from the target contour that may be present are corrected, and the target contour of the workpiece region in question is ground adaptively on the basis of the measurement values.

  • Patent number: 10766114
Abstract: A system and method for grinding the exterior of a shaft part with rotationally symmetrical sections and bases which have centering bores and which define a reference longitudinal axis and rotational axis of the shaft part. The shaft part is held between tips which engage into the centering bores during the grinding process using a grinding disk, and the shaft part is additionally supported on the rotationally symmetrical sections by means of a support device. • Patent number: 10293450
Abstract: A steady rest for supporting, e.g., bearing points on shaft parts of crankshafts, during the grinding of central and/or eccentric workpiece regions. For the grinding, the steady rest is brought from a retracted position to a supporting position against the workpiece region to support the workpiece region at respective circumferential regions. The supporting parts are each arranged on a lateral flank of a prism opening in a fork-like manner on a steady-rest arm in a fixed position in relation to each other and to the steady-rest arm, the supporting parts thus forming an opening angle to each other. The supporting parts are arranged below center with respect to the longitudinal axis of the workpiece region such that an angle bisector between the two supporting parts has a fixed acute angle to the vertical extending through the longitudinal axis of the workpiece region and the CNC-controlled advancement occurs along said angle bisector.

  • Patent number: 10092994
Abstract: The housing of a grinding spindle unit is pivotably mounted by way of a pivot axle on the receiving part of a grinding machine, e.g., on a grinding headstock. The grinding spindle unit bears a grinding wheel which is driven in rotation. The actuation of an adjusting unit extends a pressure pin, which pivots the housing of the grinding spindle unit about the pivot axle and thus slants the grinding wheel. The pivot axle is in this case formed as a film hinge through a zone of targeted elastic material deformation. A tensile spring device brings about constant contact between the pressure pin and the receiving part.

  • Patent number: 10058968
Abstract: A grinding machine for machining workpieces includes a workpiece headstock and two grinding headstocks. A first grinding headstock has two grinding spindles each with one grinding wheel for grinding first and second planar and non-planar external surfaces. A second grinding headstock has a grinding spindle having a grinding wheel for grinding a central bore in the workpiece, and a clamping device to clamp the workpiece. First, the bore and the first planar and any non-planar external surface are ground on one side of the workpiece. Then, the workpiece is clamped in the bore. The second planar external surface can then be ground in the same grinding machine with one of the grinding wheels of the first headstock. The clamping device attached to the second grinding headstock is such that the central axis of the clamping device is exactly aligned with the central axis of the workpiece headstock.

  • Patent number: 9878417
Abstract: The invention provides a method for the centerless grinding of shaft parts (9), in particular of tubes for assembled camshafts, in the case of which the shaft part (9) which is to be ground, and has axial centering portions (11) on its end sides, is ground in rotatably driven fashion, in a manner which is customary in centerless grinding, in a gap between the grinding wheel (1) and regulating wheel (2). The grinding wheel (1) and regulating wheel (2) have a width which corresponds at least to the length of the shaft part (9). The shaft part (9) is ground in its end regions (28) first of all concentrically in relation to the centering portions (11), and this produces ground formations concentrically in relation to the centering portions (11).
