Abstract: The present invention is a multiparameter method of screening for the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of atherosclerosis-related coronary heart disease (CHD) or stroke. This method is used for predicting a total risk of the disease and a disease risk level, determining a primary cause in the disease, assessing a therapeutic efficacy and optimizing the therapeutic targets at the different stages of the disease in different individuals who require the therapy to prevent or to treat the disease. The method of this invention can be used to combine the contributions of atherosclerotic risk factors to the disease and to unite the two major methods for diagnosing the disease: screening the Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) level and measuring the C-reactive protein (CRP) concentration in human blood. The method of this invention is written as an executable computer program named the MMA.exe © 2004, by Xing F. Wang, which provides greater ease and convenience to perform this method.

Abstract: The water flow control structure of a water gun includes a movable control tube, stepwise positioning unit, oblique guide and resilient component. When the control tube is moved by the control component, it is turned by the oblique guide and stepwise positioning unit. Each time the first guide of the control tube coordinates with the position of the stepwise positioning unit, it makes the space between the stopper head of the control tube and the water control outlet of the water holder close or open in different degrees to control water flow. The entire control structure is hidden inside the water gun. The repeated movements of the control component can switch the water flow mode, which is convenient and practical.

Abstract: The present invention is a sealing structure for a rotary valve of a squirt gun. The rotary valve is placed into a housing of the squirt gun body between an inlet duct and an outlet duct. The rotary valve is provided with a through hole, and both ends of the rotary valve are connected to a button outside of the squirt gun body. The rotation angle of the rotary valve can be adjusted to control the switching or misalignment state between the through hole of the rotary valve and the inlet duct and the outlet duct. A flexible sealer is placed on the outer wall of the rotary valve opposite to the inlet duct or outlet duct of the squirt gun body. When the through hole of the rotary valve is misaligned with the inlet duct and outlet duct, the flexible sealer is placed opposite to the inlet duct or outlet duct to achieve water-tightness, thereby reducing the components and saving the manufacturing cost for improved industrial applications.

Abstract: An optical display module includes a liquid crystal panel, a driving IC, a flexible printed circuit board, a plurality of first pads, a plurality of second pads, at least a light source and a heat conductive member. The driving IC is provided on the liquid crystal panel and electrically connected to the flexible printed circuit board. The flexible printed circuit board includes through holes open at opposite sides. The first and second pads are provided on the opposite sides of the flexible printed circuit board respectively and connected to each other through the through holes. The light source electrically connected to the first pads. The heat conductive member is attached on the second pads. Heat of the light source is conducted to the heat conductive member through the first pads and the second pads in sequence to reduce the temperature around the light source.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a wall switch with a current control safety module, comprising a bottom seat, a triple-conductors assembly, a press-button assembly, a top cover, and a current control safety module. The current control safety module is structurally independent of other parts of the switch and operates via a fuse with a pre-set safety current threshold. The current control safety module makes an open circuit via a blown fuse when the current goes beyond the pre-set threshold.

Abstract: The present invention provides an improved structure of a sprinkler. The invention has a water storage space inside the sprinkler base, so that the water flows into the sprinkler base through water pipe connector. The water fills up the water storage space first and then flows into the sprinkler unit. The sprinkler base is weighed down with water without having other blocks to secure it. The invention not only saves cost but also secures the base as well, which makes it more practical.

Abstract: The present invention includes a method for speech encoding and decoding and a design of speech coder and decoder. The characteristic of speech encoding method relies on the type of data with high compression rate after the whole speech data is compressed. The present invention is able to lower the bit rate of the original speech from 64 Kbps to 1.6 Kbps and provide a bit rate lower than the traditional compression method. It can provide good speech quality, and attain the function of storing the maximum speech data with minimum memory. As to the speech decoding method, some random noises are appropriated added into the exciting source, so that more speech characteristics can be simulated to produce various speech sounds. In addition, the present invention also discloses a coder and a decoder designed by application specific integrated circuit, and the structural design is optimized according to the software.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an audio signal segmentation algorithm comprising the following steps. First, an audio signal is provided. Then, an audio activity detection (AAD) step is applied to divide the audio signal into at least one noise segment and at least one noisy audio segment. Then, an audio feature extraction step is used on the noisy audio segment to obtain multiple audio features. Then, a smoothing step is applied. Then, multiple speech frames and multiple music frames are discriminated. The speech frames and the music frames compose at least one speech segment and at least one music segment. Finally, the speech segment and the music segment are segmented from the noisy audio segment.

Abstract: A rug includes a foam base layer and a top layer which is fixed on a top of the foam base layer. The base layer has a plurality of holes and separation portions which are located between the holes. The top layer is woven by plastic fibers and is a porous top layer. The top layer is conveniently woven by artificial plastic fibers so that different patterns and colors are available. The foam base layer is resilient and the holes are good for ventilation.

Abstract: A backlight module including an extruded metallic carrier, a reflector sheet, a light source and a diffuser plate is provided. Of which, the extruded metallic carrier has a carrier's top-face and plural heat-dissipating tunnels with an accommodation sink being formed on the carrier's top-face; both the reflector sheet and the light source are deposited in the accommodation sink with the former being situated under the latter; the diffuser plate is situated above the light source. The extruded metallic carrier according to the invention not only maintains the overall evenness of the backlight module but also dissipates the heat outside, hence preventing the diffuser plate from being caved in and deformed due to a high temperature and improving the luminance quality of the backlight module.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a video summarization system and the method thereof. A similarity computing apparatus computes the similarity between each frame to obtain multiple similarity values. A key frame extracting apparatus chooses the key frames from the frames wherein the sum of the similarity values between the key frames is a minimum. A feature space mapping apparatus converts the sentences into multiple corresponding sentence vectors and computes the distance between each sentence vector to obtain multiple distance values. A clustering apparatus divides the sentences into multiple clusters according to the distance values and the importance of the sentences, and also applies a splitting step to split the cluster with the highest importance into multiple new clusters. A key sentence extracting apparatus chooses multiple key sentence from the clusters, wherein the sum of the importance of the key sentences is the maximum.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a complete speech recognition system having a training button and a recognition button, and the whole system uses the application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) architecture for the design, and also uses the modular design to divide the speech processing into 4 modules: system control module, autocorrelation and linear predictive coefficient module, cepstrum module, and DTW recognition module. Each module forms an intellectual product (IP) component by itself. Each IP component can work with various products and application requirements for the design reuse to greatly shorten the time to market.

Abstract: A method and system used to determine the similarity between an input speech data and a sample speech data is provided. First, the input speech data is segmented into a plurality of input speech frames and the sample speech data is segmented into a plurality of sample speech frames. Then, the input speech frames and the sample speech frames are used to build a matching matrix, wherein the matching matrix comprises the distance values between each of the input speech frames and each of the sample speech frames. Next, the distance values are used to calculate a matching score. Finally, the similarity between the input speech data and the sample speech data is determined according to this matching score.

Abstract: A revolving lawn sprinkler comprises a rotary guide plate by which the water flow is so controlled as to actuate a lobed wheel, which in turn actuates a rotary disk via a transmission mechanism. A nozzle is mounted on the rotary disk and is provided with a movable joint. The rotary guide plate is forced to change its revolving direction at such time when a projection of the rotary disk comes in contact with a locating block of a top cover of a housing of the lawn sprinkler.

Abstract: A sprinkler structure comprises a support unit, a spray unit, and at least one fastening unit. A water pipe of the spray unit is uprightly supported by the support unit along with the fastening unit comprising a tubular seat, a press block, and a control lever. The tubular seat is provided with a center through hole to accommodate the water pipe, and a through slot in which the press block is pivoted. The control lever is provided at a pivoting end with an eccentric press surface and is fastened pivotally with two pivoting lugs of the tubular seat such that the eccentric press surface pushes the press block to arrest the water pipe at the time when the control lever is swiveled in one direction. The press block releases the water pipe at the time when the control lever is swiveled in other direction.

Abstract: A through-the-wafer (TTW) electrically conductive connection can be produced in a heavily doped substrate. An annular trench is created from one side of the wafer such that the trench almost reaches the second side of the wafer. The annular trench can be filled with an electrically insulating material. Alternatively, an electrically insulating layer can be produced on the sides of the trench which is then filled with any material. After filling the trench, the bottom of the substrate is ground to expose the trench bottom and the front side is polished to expose the trench top. The plug of substrate material inside the annular trench is a TTW electrical connection.

Abstract: A potassium hydroxide (KOH) etch process can produce deep high aspect ratio trenches in (110) oriented silicon substrates. The trenches, however, are perpendicular to the (111) direction of the silicon substrate's crystal lattice. The trenches are used to produce thermally isolating areas and through the wafer electrical connections. These structures can be produced in a cost effective manner because of the nearly ideal capabilities of the KOH etch process when it is applied to appropriate materials at appropriate orientations.
