  • Patent number: 4065996
Abstract: A first element is adapted to be received and anchored in a hole of a structure, and a second element has a first portion located in the hole and secured in the first element, and a second portion having a part which extends outwardly from the hole and is adapted to carry an object at a distance from the structure. An axially yieldable protective sleeve surrounds the afore-mentioned part of the second portion intermediate the structure and the object in sealing contact with both, so as to prevent the access of corrosion-producing media to the elements.

  • Patent number: 4063582
Abstract: A device comprises a sleeve-shaped mounting element receivable in a hole of a structure which has a transverse dimension less than the transverse direction of the hole so as to form a circumferential recess between the mounting element and the hole. The mounting element has a central bore and a transverse bore communicating the central bore with the circumferential recess. An adapter element is inserted in the central bore of the mounting element and has a further bore adapted to communicate with a source of a hardenable binding material and the transverse bore of the mounting element so as to establish a path for passage of the binding material from the source into the circumferential recess to be hardened in the latter and to thereby anchor the mounting element in the hole of the structure.

  • Patent number: 4062398
Abstract: An auxiliary device for use with a permanent mold in casting operations includes a cover plate having an upwardly and a downwardly facing surface. In place on the permanent mold, the downwardly facing surface defines the upper limit of the mold cavity. At least one pipe extends through an opening in the cover plate with its lower end in the plane of the downwardly facing surface of the cover plate. An annular recess located in one of the downwardly facing surface of the cover plate or the lower end of the pipe, encircles the lower end of the pipe radially outwardly from its opening. A breaking core can be incorporated as a part of the lower end of the pipe or it can be formed as a separate member. The pipe can be used only to feed additional molten metal into the mold as the poured metal starts to solidify or it can be used both to pour the molten metal into the mold cavity and then to provide the additional feed as the metal solidifies.

  • Patent number: 4058873
Abstract: An assembly attachable to a side of a window opening for gathering to a side, curtains or drapes hung over the window opening. The assembly consists of a flat plate fitted with attachment holes to which an arm member is pivotably mounted. One or more detents are mounted to the plate to each serve as a stop so that in the mounted position, the arm member may be rotated from a first vertical position alongside the window opening frame to a second, generally horizontal position, in which the arm member projects away from the window opening frame to serve as holder for curtains or drapes that are to be held, in gathered fashion, away from the window opening.

  • Patent number: 4058176
Abstract: A tool and a method for drilling holes having an increased cross-sectional area in a region remote from an exposed surface of the support structure in which the holes are to be drilled include mounting a drill bit having cutting edges at one end of a resiliently-deflectable, elongated force-transmitting spring, and angularly displacing an other end of the elongated force-transmitting spring so as to resiliently deflect said one end thereof into a plurality of positions in each of which the cutting edges of the drill bit are brought into engagement with the inner circumferential wall of the hole being drilled so as to form undercut surfaces in said region.

  • Patent number: 4057074
Abstract: This invention is a reversing valve having an inlet, an outlet, and an inlet-outlet port. The valve is designed to respond to the introduction of relatively high-pressure fluid at its inlet or, alternatively, of lower-pressure fluid at its inlet-outlet port. The valve includes an axially slidable assembly which is spring-biased to a position where it isolates the inlet and connects the inlet-outlet port to the outlet. The admission of high-pressure fluid to the inlet displaces the slidable assembly to a position where the outlet is isolated and the inlet is connected to the inlet-outlet port. The valve is designed to minimize pressure drops and leakage. It is of a reliable and comparatively simple design.

  • Patent number: 4056471
Abstract: A liquid is contacted with an adsorption agent so that the latter adsorbs and retains the impurities in the liquid. Subsequently, a portion of the purified liquid is vaporized. The vapor is brought into contact with the adsorption agent and removes the adsorbed impurities therefrom to thereby regenerate the adsorption agent. After condensation of the vapor so as to segregate the impurities removed from the adsorption agent, the resulting liquid may again be contacted with the adsorption agent.

  • Patent number: 4056812
Abstract: A field-access, magnetic bubble memory organized in a major-minor configuration includes an extra set of minor loops dedicated to fault correction. The loops of the extra set are coupled to a major path in a manner to move the information in the loops of the set controllably out of synchronism with respect to the information in the remaining loops. Thus, information in the loops of the extra set can be inserted into the data stream originating from the remaining loops at positions of missing data from faulty ones of those loops.

  • Patent number: 4054508
Abstract: This invention is concerned with removing metal and sulfur contaminants from residual oil fractions by catalytic contact with two different catalysts in the presence of hydrogen. In this process, the oil is first contacted with the major fraction of a catalyst comprising a Group VIB metal and an iron group metal oxide, such as a mixture of cobalt and molybdenum oxides, composited with an alumina support, the catalyst having at least 60% of its pore volume in pores of 100A to 200A diameter and at least about 5% of its pore volume in pores having a diameter greater than 500A. The oil is then contacted with a secondcatalyst of the high surface-area, cobalt-molybdenum on alumina type having a major fraction of its pores in the 30 to 100A diameter range. Finally, the oil is contacted with the remainder of the large-pore catalyst.
