  • Publication number: 20110285689
Abstract: In a display apparatus, a first display substrate includes a common electrode to which a common voltage is applied. A second display substrate facing the first display substrate includes a first pixel electrode and a second pixel electrode. The first and second pixel electrodes formed in one pixel region are spaced apart from and insulated from each other. A first data voltage having a first polarity with reference to the common voltage is applied to the first pixel electrode, and a second data voltage having a second polarity different from the first polarity with reference to the common voltage is applied to the second pixel electrode. Thus, a fringe field is formed between the first and second display substrates and a lateral field is formed in the second display substrate, thereby improving a transmittance and a response speed of the display apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7961265
Abstract: An array substrate includes first and second gate lines, a data line, a pixel electrode, a domain electrode, first, second and third switching elements, and a voltage-changing part. The domain-dividing electrode divides the first and second pixel parts into a plurality of areas. The first, second and third switching elements are controlled by a first gate signal applied from the first gate line. The first, second and third switching elements apply a data signal received from the data line to the first and second pixel parts and the domain-dividing electrode, respectively. The voltage-changing part is controlled by a second gate signal applied from the second gate line. The voltage-changing part increases a voltage level of the domain-dividing electrode and decreases a voltage level of the second pixel part.

  • Patent number: 7898937
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention can resolve conflicts between candidate master network devices such as may be encountered in a failover condition. In a common type of failover protocol, two or more candidate master devices send messages to each other prior to a failover condition. A witness device (or process or service) also casts a vote to prevent a stalemate condition between the two candidate master devices that could lead to an error condition where multiple masters, or no masters, are elected.

  • Patent number: 7660901
Abstract: A method for identifying an expected configuration environment defined by configuration parameters typically employed by a user, and seamlessly applying the configuration environment to subsequent network transaction requests of the user, regardless of the network access point from which the transaction request emanates, provides remote network access according to the expectations of the user. Each user has an independent configuration environment stored in a memory accessible by a data communications device. The data communications device identifies a connection as emanating from a particular user, and applies the corresponding configuration environment from the memory to network transaction requests from the user. In this manner, the user perceives the same treatment by the network when connecting in the home office as well as via a remote connection such as from a hotel, airport, or cybercafe.

  • Patent number: 7624164
Abstract: In one embodiment, a first network node in a subnet retrieves a network configuration from a second network node located outside the subnet. The first network node communicates with at least one other network node to collect information from inter-node communication packets containing network address information other than an address assignment to the first network node. The first network node determines an available network address based on the network address information contained in the collected inter-node communication packets. The first network node is assigned the available network address and locates a network address for at least one subnet router. The network node accesses the second network node located outside the subnet, using the located network address for the at least one subnet router, for an available network configuration from a list of network configurations. The first network node is assigned the available network configuration.
