  • Publication number: 20130117110
Abstract: Various embodiments pertain to serving a number of advertisements in view of browser information and a user's interaction with the web page containing the advertisements. In at least some embodiments, information regarding the size of a browser user interface in which a browser renders the web page, visibility of the browser user interface, or status of the browser can be obtained and utilized to determine a number of slots available for advertisements. For example, if a browser is being used to render a web page on a screen of a mobile device, fewer advertisements can be served compared to when the same web page is rendered by a browser on a desktop monitor. In some embodiments, page script can be used to obtain information regarding the size of a browser user interface, visibility of the browser user interface, or status of the browser.

  • Patent number: 8422580
Abstract: A space-time-frequency encoding scheme, for use in wireless communication systems, transforms a plurality of input element pairs into a plurality orthogonal element pairs, each of the plurality of input element pairs and corresponding orthogonal element pairs forming an orthogonal matrix. A first element, second element and a duplicate of the second element in each of the plurality of input element pairs and corresponding orthogonal element pairs are mapped as channel elements to three predetermined time-frequency cells in respective first and second two-dimension time-frequency matrixes for transmission via different antennas. As the input element pairs and corresponding orthogonal element pairs, transmitted via different antennas, are orthogonal in both the space-time domain and the space-frequency domain at the same time, two-dimension space-time transmit diversity gain and space-frequency transmit diversity gain can be achieved at the same time.

  • Publication number: 20130021422
Abstract: An inkless printing method with heating process is disclosed. In the method, a conventional printing paper (15) is used, and a printing head (4,27) contacts the printing paper directly or indirectly. A heating element (13,22) is placed in the printing head(4,27), which provides heat energy to cause a color change in a surface layer of the paper, thereby producing a character or an image. When the printing head (4,27) contacts the printing paper directly, a temperature of the printing head (4,27) is set to 100-1000° C.; and a stagnation time of the printing head (4,27) is set to 0.1-100 ms; when the printing head (4,27) contacts the printing paper indirectly, a temperature of the printing head (4,27) is set to 200-1000° C. The method does not need to use toner, ink or paint, and only needs conventional printing paper (15) and said heating process to achieve printing effect. A printing head unit to be used in said printing method is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20130012221
Abstract: Device-to-device (D2D) communication is one alternative to communication between devices through a radio access network. One interesting D2D communication method is reuse-mode D2D, where D2D nodes communicate with each other using the same uplink (UL) radio resource that is being used by some other cellular user equipment(s) (UEs). In other words, the UL cellular resources occupied by cellular UEs are reused by D2D nodes in their short-range communications. Centralized control of D2D communication can be performed by appropriate signaling between a D2D-capable UE and an evolved Node B (eNB).

  • Patent number: 8280427
Abstract: Measured are received power of a first signal received from a first entity, and received power of a second signal received from a second entity. A gain factor (or a matrix of gain factors if multiple antennas are used) is determined using the measured received powers of the first signal and of the second signal. If transmit power from the apparatus to the second entity is considered as the benchmark, the second signal is forwarded from the apparatus to the first entity using a second signal transmit power that is determined using the gain factor. Or, if transmit power from the apparatus to the first entity is considered as the benchmark, the first signal is forwarded from the apparatus to the second entity using a first signal transmit power that is determined using the gain factor. Method, apparatus, and memory storing computer program are detailed.

  • Patent number: 8213904
Abstract: A method for updating wireless application protocol (WAP) data at an electronic communication device during a mobile internet protocol (MIP) registration process includes processing at an authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) server a first access request message that identifies the electronic device (step 805). It is then determined that the electronic device requires updated WAP provisioning (step 810). The AAA server is then changed to a WAP provisioning ongoing state (step 815). An access reject message including updated WAP provisioning data is then transmitted from the AAA server (step 820). A second access request message, including the updated WAP provisioning data is then verified at the AAA server (step 830). The AAA server is then changed to a WAP provisioning valid state (step 835). Finally, an access accept message is transmitted from the AAA server (step 840).
