  • Publication number: 20100311428
Abstract: A cellular phone system where a random access channel burst has a preamble comprising two Zadoff-Chu sequences to mitigate the effects of Doppler Frequency Offset. Upon reception of a random access channel burst by a base station, division is applied to the two sequences recovered from the preamble of the received burst to provide a quotient sequence. For some embodiments, the base station correlates the quotient sequence with a Zadoff- Chu sequence to identify the user equipment that transmitted the random access channel burst. • Publication number: 20100232532
Abstract: The invention relates to a space-time-frequency encoding for use in wireless communication systems. According to the encoding scheme provided by the invention, it first transforms a plurality of input element pairs into a plurality orthogonal element pairs respectively, each of the plurality of input element pairs and corresponding orthogonal element pair forming an orthogonal matrix; and then maps the first element, second element and the redundancy of the second element in each of the plurality of input element pairs and corresponding orthogonal element pair as channel elements to three predetermined time-frequency cells in a first and second two-dimension time-frequency matrix so as to make the channel elements in the first and second matrixes suitable for being transmitted via different antennas.

  • Patent number: 7792527
Abstract: A handoff key is provided for facilitating a hand off of a wireless terminal from a first access point to a second access point. The handoff key may be generated by a server and communicated to the first and second access points. Alternatively, the handoff key may be generated one of the access points and transmitted to the other access point. The first access point may transmit the handoff key to the wireless terminal before the handoff. Shortly after the handoff, the wireless terminal and the second access point may communicate data encrypted with the handoff key. Later, an authentication server may authenticate the wireless terminal, causing the second access point to provide the wireless terminal with a session key. Thereafter, the wireless terminal and the second access point may communicate data encrypted with the session key.

  • Publication number: 20100151793
Abstract: Measured are received power of a first signal received from a first entity, and received power of a second signal received from a second entity. A gain factor (or a matrix of gain factors if multiple antennas are used) is determined using the measured received powers of the first signal and of the second signal. If transmit power from the apparatus to the second entity is considered as the benchmark, the second signal is forwarded from the apparatus to the first entity using a second signal transmit power that is determined using the gain factor. Or, if transmit power from the apparatus to the first entity is considered as the benchmark, the first signal is forwarded from the apparatus to the second entity using a first signal transmit power that is determined using the gain factor. Method, apparatus, and memory storing computer program are detailed.

  • Publication number: 20100114660
Abstract: A method for making an inference based on cumulative data. The method utilizes video, audio, and biometric devices to observe a retail environment for the presence of a customer. Once a customer is present, the method identifies every cohort to which the customer corresponds. Next, the method observes the customer as they peruse aisles in the retail environment. When the customer selects a product, the method identifies the selected product and searches the cohorts for alternate products to offer the customer. The method offers one alternate product to the customer and records to the cohorts whether the customer thereinafter accepts the method's offer and selects the alternate product or rejects the method's offer and continues perusing the retail environment aisles. The method continues observing the customer and offering alternate product until the customer leaves the retail environment.

  • Publication number: 20100086219
Abstract: An image processing device capable of high-speed detection of a specific shape in an image. In the image processing device, a candidate position calculation section (106) obtains a first candidate position of the center point of a first circle in contact at three points with three sides contained in the shape of an object to be detected. An angle calculation section (106) obtains an angle formed by a normal line drawn from each of the three sides to the first candidate position and a standard line oriented in a specific direction and passing a point at which the normal line and each of the three sides cross. A relative relationship calculation section (106) obtains a relationship of the angle relative to the first candidate position. A recognition section (108) recognizes the shape contained in the given image based on the relative relationship of the angle and a relative relationship of a shape stored in advance.
