  • Publication number: 20120158501
Abstract: A viewing user is provided with social advertisements when accessing content associated with a social networking system. A social advertisement can include a candidate advertisement and an associated social story. Candidate advertisements are advertisements provided by one or more advertisers, where the advertisements each specify a relationship between their advertising content and one or more social networking objects. To identify social stories associated with the candidate advertisements, the social networking system identifies other users associated with the viewing user who has interacted with social networking objects that are related to candidate advertisements. Additionally, the social networking system identifies the one or more interactions between the other users and the one or more objects as a social story.

  • Patent number: 8180158
Abstract: An image processing device capable of high-speed detection of a specific shape in an image. In the image processing device, a candidate position calculation section (106) obtains a first candidate position of the center point of a first circle in contact at three points with three sides contained in the shape of an object to be detected. An angle calculation section (106) obtains an angle formed by a normal line drawn from each of the three sides to the first candidate position and a standard line oriented in a specific direction and passing a point at which the normal line and each of the three sides cross. A relative relationship calculation section (106) obtains a relationship of the angle relative to the first candidate position. A recognition section (108) recognizes the shape contained in the given image based on the relative relationship of the angle and a relative relationship of a shape stored in advance.

  • Publication number: 20120037919
Abstract: A nanopore electrical sensor is provided. The sensor has layered structure, including a substrate (1), the first insulating layer (2), a symmetrical electrode (3) and the second insulating layer (5) from bottom to top in turn. A nanopore (6) is provided in the center of the substrate (1), the first insulating layer (2), the symmetrical electrode (3) and the second insulating layer (5). The thickness of the symmetrical electrode can be controlled between 0.3 nm and 0.7 nm so as to meet the resolution requirements for detecting a single base in a single-stranded DNA. Thus the sensor is suitable for gene sequencing. The present invention overcomes current technical insufficiency to integrate a nanoelectrode with a nanopore and the method to prepare the nanoelectrode is simple.

  • Patent number: 8092167
Abstract: A guiding device (2) includes a base (21), a cover (23) and a sidewall (22) cooperatively defining an annular space therein and a passage therethrough. An air inlet (221) is defined in the sidewall communicating with the space for an airflow flowing into the space. A plurality of guiding plates (24) are arranged in the space around the passage. An air outlet (29) is defined between two neighboring guiding plates for the airflow flowing out the space into the passage. The airflow is distributed into a plurality of even streams by the guiding plates. An atomizer (4) is connected with the space via the air inlet. The atomizer produces a high-pressured water vapor which is taken by the airflow to cool an aluminum profile produced by an extrusions press (6) and moving through the passage.

  • Patent number: 8036946
Abstract: A method for making an inference based on cumulative data. The method utilizes video, audio, and biometric devices to observe a retail environment for the presence of a customer. Once a customer is present, the method identifies every cohort to which the customer corresponds. Next, the method observes the customer as they peruse aisles in the retail environment. When the customer selects a product, the method identifies the selected product and searches the cohorts for alternate products to offer the customer. The method offers one alternate product to the customer and records to the cohorts whether the customer thereinafter accepts the method's offer and selects the alternate product or rejects the method's offer and continues perusing the retail environment aisles. The method continues observing the customer and offering alternate product until the customer leaves the retail environment.

  • Patent number: 7995462
Abstract: A method supports scalable and reliable multicast in a wireless network with a large bandwidth-delay product. In this method, acknowledgement packets from different receivers experiencing the same number of data packets lost are assigned the same time slots. This method can be combined with other loss recovery techniques, such as forward error correction (FEC) recovery, proactive protection, feedback suppression and collision detection. Scalability is achieved as bandwidth usage relates only to the number of packets transmitted, rather than the number of receivers.

  • Publication number: 20110150114
Abstract: A multiuser downlink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system with limited channel information feedback includes an error-free channel vector quantization scheme. Each user has multiple antennas, and the base station includes a matching number of antennas. Each MIMO channel is measured at the terminus end of a corresponding user, and used to obtain the channel state information at the receiver (CSIR). A few data bits of CSIR information are feed back to the base station through the limited feedback channels. The base station collects all these CSIR feedback data bits into a CSI at the transmitter (CSIT). The CSIT is used to determine which users are served, and how to configure a corresponding multi-user precoder. The user data channels will later all be transmitted through such precoder. A codebook of channel quantization vectors is pre-defined and distributed amongst the base station and all the users.
