Publication number: 20210132087Abstract: Disclosed is the invention to conduct immuno-adsorption of free 25(OH) vitamin D from blood or blood components, notably serum or plasma, after which the absorbed material is measured. A fluoro-alkyl surfactant is used to enhance the solubility of Vitamin D and allow the measurement of free Vitamin D. The invention thus employs a binding protein to absorb the free 25(OH) vitamin D. Thereafter the binding protein comprising the 25-OH vitamin D is subjected to a competitive binding assay with a labeled vitamin D compound, preferably radiolabeled, fluorescent labeled, luminescent labeled, biotin labeled, gold labeled or enzyme labeled. Alternatively the immunocaptured 25-OH vitamin D can be quantitated by mass spectrometry.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 15, 2021Publication date: May 6, 2021Inventors: Michaël Franciscus Wilhelmus Cornelis MARTENS, George Henry Parsons, Franciscus Maria Anna Rosmalen, Leon Maria Jacobus Wilhelmus Swinkels

Patent number: 10976285Abstract: An apparatus and methods for determining the position of an elongate structure. A number of magnetic field sensors arranged at fixed spacing, each sensor being arranged to sense a magnetic field of a remote structure induced by the Earth's magnetic field in at least two orthogonal directions. In use, the magnetic field sensors are arranged remotely of an elongate structure having a longitudinal axis, such that the magnetic field sensors are spaced in a lateral direction relative to said longitudinal axis. An angular spacing for the magnetic field sensors about the longitudinal axis is determined according to the magnetic field readings in the two orthogonal directions and a distance between one or more of said magnetic field sensors and said elongate structure is determined based on said angular spacing determination.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2017Date of Patent: April 13, 2021Assignee: Speir Hunter LtdInventors: Steven Freear, Chau Ky Vo, Ben Varcoe, David Matthew Joseph Cowell, Stephen George Henry Staples, Christopher Lee Cookson

Publication number: 20210076576Abstract: An unventilated greenhouse is cooled during the day by transferring most of the solar energy entering the greenhouse into one or more large reservoirs of water using a droplet dispensing system. Cool reservoir water is pumped from the reservoirs into the droplet dispensing system above the reservoirs. As the droplets fall back into the reservoirs they exchange heat and water vapor with the greenhouse air, gradually warming the reservoir water during the day. During the night and morning the reservoirs are cooled for the next day by enclosing the reservoirs and droplet dispensing system so that the air above the reservoirs is isolated from the air in the remainder of the greenhouse. With the droplets activated the air enclosed above the reservoirs is circulated through banks of tubes outside the greenhouse building that serve as heat exchangers. Heat is transferred from the warm droplets to the cool air above the reservoirs, cooling the reservoirs and saturating the air.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2019Publication date: March 18, 2021Inventor: George Henry Zapalac

Publication number: 20200400961Abstract: The invention is directed towards a wearable platform system (e.g., head-mounted computing device) that allows for various modular peripheral devices to be interchangeably attached and detached, as well as methods and systems for transitioning an operational mode of the wearable platform between a hard connection mode and a wireless connection mode when a peripheral device is attached to or removed from the wearable platform. Specifically, the wearable platform may include a base member coupled to one or more arm members. A variety of modular peripheral devices may be attached at a hardware interface of the wearable platform to provide varied functionality to the wearable platform. As a user begins to remove a peripheral device, the wearable platform system may determine the peripheral device is being removed from the wearable platform and may transition from a hard connection mode to a wireless connection mode.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2020Publication date: December 24, 2020Inventors: Christopher Iain Parkinson, Sanjay Subir Jhawar, Stephen A.
