  • Publication number: 20150212169
Abstract: Described are methods and apparatus, referred to as “temperature-lock,” which can control and stabilize the sample temperature in an NMR spectrometer, in some instances with a precision and an accuracy of below about 0.1 K. In conventional setups, sample heating caused by experiments with high-power radio frequency pulses is not readily detected and is corrected by a cumbersome manual procedure. In contrast, the temperature-lock disclosed herein automatically maintains the sample at the same reference temperature over the course of different NMR experiments. The temperature-lock can work by continuous or non-continuous measurement of the resonance frequency of a suitable temperature-lock nucleus and simultaneous adaptation of a temperature control signal to stabilize the sample at a reference temperature value. Inter-scan periods with variable length can be used to maintain the sample at thermal equilibrium over the full length of an experiment.

  • Publication number: 20150174639
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a rolling-element bearing cage includes clamping a cage blank in the radial direction using a clamping element in a first position where the cage blank is processed. Then, the cage blank is rotated relative to the clamping element to a second position where the cage blank is further processed. A device for manufacturing a rolling-element bearing cage includes the clamping element, which remain stationary together with a tool for processing the cage blank, while only the cage blank is rotated.

  • Publication number: 20150005243
Abstract: Methods that enable one to specifically measure the metabolic product of a particular molecule in relatively few cells, e.g. primary cells, are described. The methods involve optionally preloading cells with labeled substrate (e.g. labeled by 13C, 15N, or 31P). The methods allow for easy identification of metabolites that are differentially generated in cells of different phenotypes. The new methods for unbiased multi-dimensional NMR screening and rapid and efficient analysis of the NMR screening identify differentially expressed metabolites in different cell or tissue types. Analysis of the differentially expressed metabolites can present unique druggable targets to which small molecule therapeutics can be designed.

  • Patent number: 8794845
Abstract: A bearing cage for a rolling element bearing includes a plurality of individual bearing cage segments configured to respectively accommodate rolling elements in rolling element pockets formed by the bearing cage segments. Each bearing cage segment includes a first coupling device disposed on a first axial end thereof. A first lamellar support ring defines first and second ring halves that are connected to each other, are axially adjacent to each other are biased towards each other. The first ring half extends through the respective first coupling devices of the plurality of bearing cage segments and the second ring half is disposed on an axially-inner side or an axially-outer side of the first coupling devices such that the first coupling devices are clamped between the first and second ring halves.

  • Publication number: 20120136033
Abstract: Disclosed are a new class of non-lipid small molecule inhibitors which interfere with the interaction between PIP3 and pleckstrin homology domains. These molecules target a broad range of PIP3-dependent signaling events in vitro and exert significant anti-tumor activity in vivo. The small molecule inhibitors of the invention can be used alone or together with tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) or other cancer medicament to treat cancer. Small molecule inhibitors of the invention act synergistically in combination with TRAIL in treating cancer. Pharmaceutical compositions and methods for treating cancer are provided.
