  • Publication number: 20140082697
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for offloading traffic from a third generation partnership project (3GPP) access network to a non-3GPP access point (AP) are disclosed. A 3GPP access network entity may receive subscription information associated with a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU). The 3GPP access network entity may further receive traffic associated with the WTRU. The 3GPP access network entity may further determine whether to offload the traffic to the non-3GPP AP based on the subscription information. The 3GPP access network entity may also forward the traffic to the non-3GPP AP based on its determination.

  • Publication number: 20140079022
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are provided to implement wireless off-loading. A WTRU may send a first Wi-Fi measurement report to a mobile communication network. The first Wi-Fi measurement report comprises one or more of an identity of a Wi-Fi node, a signal strength value, or a load status. The WTRU may receive a Wi-Fi connection command from the mobile communication network. The Wi-Fi connection command may include one or more of an identity of a candidate AP, security information of the candidate AP, a priority value, a channel value, or a delay timer. The WTRU may select one of the received Wi-Fi network identities for association and may attempt to associate with the selected Wi-Fi network identity. The WTRU may further receive a request to initiate pre-authentication. The WTRU may initiate pre-authentication with a Wi-Fi node. • Publication number: 20130301501
Abstract: Current wireless networks do not allow machine type communication (MTC) devices to have long discontinuous reception (DRX) cycles or sleep lengths. A long DRX cycle may allow MTC systems and devices to operate with much longer DRX/Sleep cycles/periods. This may facilitate the MTC operations for infrequent system access or infrequent system reaching (e.g. paged once in a week) with no or low mobility and may allow MTC devices to sleep for a long time with low power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20130303114
Abstract: Flexible sharing of common radio access network (RAN) resources may pool unallocated resources. For example, sharing of the network resources may be static, e.g., the sharing contract may define a fixed percentage allocation of network resources that may not be modified without change in contract. The sharing of the network resource may also be dynamic and may accommodate the capacity needs of hosted operators on a real-time basis.

  • Publication number: 20130303203
Abstract: Embodiments contemplate paging and system information broadcast handling for multi-SIM WTRUs using mobile networks to access resources and/or services. Embodiments also contemplate paging and system information broadcast handling for multi-SIM WTRUs and/or non-SIM WTRUs using mobile networks to access virtualized resources and/or services. Embodiments contemplate that a WTRU may determine to monitor a plurality of mobile networks. Paging occasions to monitor at least one of the mobile networks may be based on a common WTRU ID. The WTRU ID may be provided by a node supporting access to the virtualized resources or services. Paging occasions for a first network may be determined by a second network based on paging related parameters and other information of the first communication network. A change in system information of a first network may be signaled to a second network for indication to a WTRU.

  • Publication number: 20130287012
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for maintaining communications over a bearer when at least one of two wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) transition to idle mode. In one case, a direct WTRU-to-WTRU bearer may be released in response to a first one of the WTRUs transitioning to idle mode. A second one of the WTRUs may send a first of a plurality of packets to the first WTRU via a default packet data network (PDN) connection or a default bearer towards the PDN connection. The first packet may have a destination Internet protocol (IP) address of the second WTRU and trigger paging to the first WTRU. The first WTRU may transition to connected mode in response to the paging. Other cases may release a portion of a bearer, rather than the entire bearer. A method and apparatus for initiating proximity service bearer establishment is also described.
