  • Patent number: 10587695
Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may establish one or more protocol data unit (PDU) sessions via a radio access network (RAN) node. The WTRU may transition to an inactive state. The WTRU may send a connection resume message to a RAN node that indicates a request to resume the established plurality of PDU sessions via the RAN node. The WTRU may receive a message from the RAN node. For example, the RAN node may send a message indicating a subset of the plurality of PDU sessions that are available upon resuming a connection with the RAN node. The WTRU may deactivate at least one established PDU session of the plurality of PDU sessions based on the received message from the RAN node that indicates at least one established PDU session not being included in the subset of the plurality of PDU sessions that are available.

  • Publication number: 20200029373
Abstract: A method of communicating using proximity services (ProSe) is disclosed. A base station receives at least one aggregate maximum bit rate (AMBR) parameter from a network entity. The at least one AMBR parameter comprises a maximum bit rate that a first wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) can use for data sent on one or more ProSe bearers. The base station receives a request from the first WTRU to establish the one or more ProSe bearers with a second WTRU. The request comprises priority information of the one or more ProSe bearers determined by the first WTRU. The base station sends an indication to the first WTRU to establish a ProSe communication over the one or more ProSe bearers based on at least the AMBR parameter and the priority information of the one or more ProSe bearers.

  • Patent number: 10534932
Abstract: Location and other status information may be communicated between Proximity Service (ProSe) users. A ProSe function may retrieve a ProSe WTRU's location data from SLP and provide it to a monitoring WTRU via a ProSe discovery procedure or EPC-level ProSe discovery procedure. A ProSe function may retrieve a ProSe WTRU's location data from a ProSe WTRU and provide it to monitoring WTRUs via a ProSe discovery procedure. A ProSe WTRU may broadcast its location and/or other status information in a discovery message. A ProSe function may encrypt the location and/or other status information for encryption before broadcast. A ProSe WTRU may send its location and/or other status information via a user plane to another ProSe WTRU or ProSe group. A ProSe function may verify whether a WTRU is permitted to disclose and/or process information (e.g., location information) and may indicate to a WTRU whether to disclose information, e.g., before the information is disclosed, and/or whether to process the information.

  • Publication number: 20190387428
Abstract: Procedures, systems, and devices for addressing quality of service (QoS) during an intersystem change of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) are discussed herein. A WTRU may send a protocol data unit (PDU) modification request to a network node, such as a session management function (SMF) device, indicating support for reflective quality of services (RQoS). In response to the modification request, the WTRU may then receive an acknowledgement, after which the WTRU may then be able to send data for a PDU of a specific RQoS. The RQoS may be specific to a single PDU or a plurality of PDUs. The modification request may include Session Management (SM) and/or Mobility Management (MM) information. The modification request may be included in an attach procedure or a tracking area update (TAU).

  • Publication number: 20190246342
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for enforcing limited mobility in a mobile network. For example, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive (e.g., receive from a network) a mapping of physical cell identifications (PCIs) to area identifications (AIDs). The WTRU may determine a first PCI associated with a first neighbor cell. The WTRU may determine, based on the first PCI and the PCIs to AIDs mapping, whether the WTRU is allowed to access the first neighbor cell. The WTRU may perform cell selection or reselection with the first neighbor cell as a cell selection or reselection candidate. The WTRU may perform cell selection or reselection based on the WTRU determining that the WTRU is allowed to access the first neighbor cell. The WTRU may determine that the WTRU is allowed to access the first neighbor cell based on the first PCI and the PCIs to AIDs mapping.

  • Patent number: 10368375
Abstract: Methods and devices are described for communication using proximity services (ProSe). An aggregate maximum bit rate parameter (AMBR) may limit a data rate that may be transmitted by one or more ProSe bearers. A wireless transmit-receive unit (WTRU) may request authorization from the network prior to establishing a ProSe bearer specifying a required quality of service (QoS) or other requirements. Each ProSe bearer may have a corresponding EPS bearer to support service continuity. Packets may be evaluated by a WTRU first using a ProSe check to determine if the packet is destined for a ProSe bearer and then using a packet filter or filters in order of precedence. Embodiments may include methods of initiation communication after discovery. Embodiments may include methods of maintaining session continuity when traffic is switched between an evolved packet system (EPS) bearer and a ProSe bearer.

  • Publication number: 20190150219
Abstract: A method and a system are disclosed for providing session continuity in a 5G system. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may receive, from a session management function (SMF), a first Non-Access Stratum (NAS) message indicating a Packet Data Unit (PDU) session re-establishment. Upon receiving the first NAS message, the WTRU may determine an old PDU session ID based on the NAS message and generate a new PDU session ID. The WTRU may transmit a second NAS message indicating a PDU session establishment request. The second NAS message may include the old and new PDU session IDs. Upon receiving the PDU session establishment request, the SMF may determine that the old PDU session ID is associated with an existing PDU session for which the PDU session re-establishment is requested. The SMF may also determine that the new PDU session ID is associated with a new PDU session to be established.
