  • Patent number: 7134093
Abstract: A graphical user interface for direct control of data displayed in a window-based computing environment. A slider element is displayed which is variable in size according to user input. The slider defines a selected area of an image, which is then displayed. The scope of the selected area corresponds to the size of the slider. The resizable slider is then resized by a user's direct manipulation, e.g. by a click-and-drag technique, to redefine the selected area, which is then displayed. The scope of the redefined selected area corresponds to the size of the resized slider. Accordingly, a user directly controls (by resizing the slider) the scope of data displayed in a window, and directly controls the presentation of data by translating the slider to define various selected areas. More than one independently resizable slider may intersect to define the selected area and provide independent control of scope in various directions.

  • Patent number: 7118314
Abstract: A pallet system for supporting and transporting cargo on a cargo carrier. The cargo carrier has a plurality of rollers and a pair of retaining rails. The pallet system comprises a pallet member having a top late and a bottom plate, with each plate maintained in a spaced apart relationship to define an interior space. A pair of pallet extension members reciprocally mounted in the interior space. One extension member is mounted a spaced distance from the other extension member, with each pallet extension member having an outer edge configured to engage the retaining rails. An extension mechanism is mounted in the interior space and coupled to the pallet member and the pallet extensions. The extension mechanism moves each pallet extension member from a first position to a second position.

  • Patent number: 7111451
Abstract: A process for controlling an exhaust system can comprise flowing exhaust gas from the engine past a first oxygen sensor, through a NOx adsorber, past a second oxygen sensor, through a catalyst and past a third oxygen sensor, wherein the first oxygen sensor, the second oxygen sensor, and the third oxygen sensor, are in operable communication with an electronic control module, and using a switching delay between the first oxygen sensor and the second oxygen sensor to determine a NOx value, wherein the NOx value is selected from the group consisting of a NOx regeneration time, a stored NOx amount, a NOx storage efficiency, and combinations comprising at least one of the foregoing NOx values. A desulfurization process can be initiated when the NOx value is less than or equal to a first selected value. During the desulfurization process, when the third oxygen sensor signals a condition rich of stoichiometry, oxygen can be provided to the catalyst.

  • Patent number: 7093291
Abstract: A method and a system by which to achieve authentication intrusion detection so as to effectively detect and prevent unauthorized access to and use of a local computer system, or the like, and take appropriate measures. The local system authentication process is redirected to an authenticator broker system (i.e. a secondary authentication system) that makes use of the local system authentication process paths and the local system authenticator file. The authenticator broker system includes an authenticator broker system file having stored therein secret authenticators of prospective users, a mapping file to assign a replacement identifier for the identifier entered by a particular user at the local system and redirected to the secondary system, and a decoy authenticator file to assign a decoy authenticator for the secret authenticator entered by the user and originally stored in the local system authentication file.

  • Patent number: 7042900
Abstract: A shelf or housing is connected to a narrowband network and to a broadband network for serving a plurality of subscribers includes two sections, one for lowpass filters and another for line and network termination cards. The line termination and network termination equipment are interconnected by a bus internal to the shelf for providing subscriber access. The shelf or housing can be used as a hub for connecting to a remote shelf or housing that includes the line termination equipment for connection to subscribers. Although the internal bus of the shelf or housing is shown in a non-redundant embodiment, an increased level of equipment protection can be provided by placing one half of a redundant equipment pair in one shelf or housing and the other half in the other shelf or housing and sharing network termination equipment between such shelves or housings.

  • Patent number: 7025901
Abstract: Novel compositions containing SF4—O—CF3 bonded to an organic group are disclosed. Aryl trifluoromethoxytetrafluorosulfuranes (or Ar—SF4—O—CF3), have been synthesized via the reaction of an aryl disulfide or thiol with fluoroxytrifluoromethane (F3COF). The compositions are useful synthons, which may be derivatized to yield highly electrically polar molecules, particularly novel liquid crystal compositions having high dielectric anisotropies. Cycloalkyl trifluoromethoxytetrafluorosulfuranes have similar utility.

  • Patent number: 6933151
Abstract: A diagnostic system for monitoring catalyst performance in an exhaust system comprises a plurality of treatment devices catalytically treating an exhaust gas stream, and a plurality of gas sensors for monitoring the catalyst performance of the treatment devices to determine when sulfur poisoning occurs. • Publication number: 20050133000
Abstract: The invention provides a toroidal intersecting vane machine incorporating intersecting rotors to form primary and secondary chambers whose porting configurations minimize friction and maximize efficiency. Specifically, it is an object of the invention to provide a toroidal intersecting vane machine that greatly reduces the frictional losses through meshing surfaces without the need for external gearing by modifying the function of one or the other of the rotors from that of “fluid moving” to that of “valving” thereby reducing the pressure loads and associated inefficiencies at the interface of the meshing surfaces. The inventions described herein relate to these improvements.
