  • Patent number: 6076316
Abstract: Mounting apparatus is disclosed for installations of tubing, pipes, cables and other rigid or flexible elongate elements. A first segment of the apparatus includes a pair of relatively flat, longitudinally extending rectangular members rigidly fastened together along a longitudinal edge of each to maintain a predetermined angle, nominally a right angle, between them. Additional segments, each constituting a flat longitudinally extending member substantially coextensive longitudinally with the others, are pivotally connected to adjacent segments along corresponding longitudinal edges, one of these members being pivotally connected at a longitudinal edge of one member of the pair for the first segment. In this way, the latter segment may be pivoted to position it at a selected angle to the first segment, with which it is connected to form an open or closed polygon which can receive and retain the tubing, pipes, cables or other rigid or flexible elongate elements when the mounting apparatus is in use.

  • Patent number: 6024158
Abstract: Parts are diecast from a light metal alloy which in the molten state is fed under gravity into a casting chamber of a diecasting machine and whence forced by a plunger into a mould chamber which undergoes controlled evacuation in accordance with the position of a plunger. A parting compound is applied to at least one mold half and the application of a lubricant to the plunger. The light metal alloy consists of a primary alloy of invariable composition, with a limit placed on the proportions of Cu, Fe and Zn; the alloy undergoes smelting treatment, de-gassing and/or filtration before being introduced. The vacuum in the mould chamber is below 50 mbar when the molten alloy is introduced and the parting compound contains alkali halides and anti-corrosion additives.

  • Patent number: 5962045
Abstract: A process is disclosed for producing beers having yeast turbidity, in particular wheat beer, in which it is possible to metabolize virtually completely the oxygen which has unavoidably passed into the container during packaging, and nevertheless to perform continuous pasteurization integrated into the filling device. For this purpose, prior to packaging, yeast and beer wort are again added to the beer, and the yeast in the beer present in a package is destroyed within 24 hours of packaging. By this means, sterile beer having very high flavor stability can be produced, which is also suitable for sale of canned beer and for export even to distant countries.

  • Patent number: 5862896
Abstract: A device for dampening the movement of a pivotally supported structural part, for example, a flap or closure within an automobile, comprises a pivot arm attached to the structural part, and a rack operatively connected to the pivot arm. A housing is rotatably supported upon a support surface or member, and a rotor is rotatably disposed within the housing along with a viscous fluid which tends to dampen rotary motion of the rotor. The rotor also comprises a pinion which is enmeshed with the rack, and the housing comprises a pair of guides for confining movement of the rack in a translational or rectilinear mode while maintaining the rack enmeshed with the rotor pinion. Consequently, when the flap or closure is either opened or closed, the flap or closure is moved in a dampened mode due to the movement of the pivot arm and the rack relative to the dampened rotor pinion.

  • Patent number: 5805756
Abstract: A subrack has in addition to conventional modules a special routing module. The modules are detachably connected to the routing module via mutually identical bundles of optical fibers and multiple-plug connectors. Devices located outside the subrack are connected to the routing module. The assignment of the connections between the modules themselves, on the one hand, and between the modules and devices located outside the subrack, on the other hand, is carried out on the routing module.

  • Patent number: 5732944
Abstract: The actual position of a leading edge of a transversely folded signature is detected. This actual position detection event is used to trigger an instantaneous measurement of the actual angular position of the gripper system used for receiving the signature. If the leading edge of the signature is predicted to arrive at the gripper system of the receiving cylinder at other than the appropriate time, the speed of the receiving cylinder is corrected.

  • Patent number: 5467809
Abstract: A liquid-cooled plate mold with adjustable width for the continuous casting of billets from steel in the form of slabs, particularly for a slab thickness of less than 100 mm. The shape-imparting broad side plates (1) and narrow side plates (2) of the ingot mold are constructed in the direction of their transverse extension so as to increase in cross section for the billet, while the narrow side plates (2) extend substantially parallel to one another along the height of the ingot mold. Further, the broad side plates (1) are constructed so as to be concave at least in a region (3) of smallest slab width in such a way that, in cross section, the apex height (13) of the ingot mold wall forming a curve has a determined height relative to a rectangle inserted in the drawing. The shape of the billet side plates at the billet outlet end (5) corresponds to the billet format to be produced.

  • Patent number: 5320190
Abstract: A motor vehicle battery cooling arrangement wherein the battery is enclosed by a housing which includes an air inlet port connected to an air guide disposed in front of the vehicle's radiator and cooling fan and an air outlet port connected to the outside. When the vehicle is moving, air impacting at the air guide enters the air inlet port and exits the air outlet port thus cooling the battery. When the vehicle is stationary or when it is very hot and the fan is turned on, the direction of air flow through the battery housing is reversed as the fan induced air flow at the air guide produces a partial vacuum which sucks hot air away from the battery housing through the air inlet port. Cooler fresh air is drawn into the battery housing through the air outlet port. In an alternate embodiment, the air inlet port is connected to the front portion of the engine compartment and the air outlet port is connected to the scoop or shroud housing for the cooling fan located behind the radiator.

The fender includes an attachment flange and a washer to be positioned between the fender attachment flange and a screw head. The washer includes at least one spherical cup-shaped impression that is pressed into the fender, resulting in positive locking which prevents movement of the fender. Stiff attachment can also be provided by a steel rail embedded in the attachment flange or steel rails attached to the sides of the attachment flange or by embedding the flange in a relatively stiff retaining part.
