Abstract: One illustrative embodiment involves receiving input specifying a component in content being developed. The component, according to a definition of the component, comprises a visual element that is configurable based on type. The embodiment also involves receiving input specifying a type for the visual element. Visual or interactive characteristics of the visual element that are available for specification differ based on which type is specified for the visual element. The embodiment further involves providing the content. Such functionality can be implemented in an integrated development environment (IDE) which content developers can use to configure standard components such that they include additional visual or interactive characteristics not included in them at the time of their creation.

  • Publication number: 20080056849
Abstract: An arrangement performs backlining or headbanding of a spine of a book block conveyed on a conveying section of a book production line through a backlining station. A feeding device feeds backlining material in a transfer direction perpendicular to a book block conveying direction. A unit includes a cross cutter to cut the backlining material into backlining sections, a transfer mechanism to transfer the backlining sections onto the book block spine, and a support table to support the backlining section being transferred onto the book block spine. A guide element is disposed above and at a distance to a book block spine in a production position, which guide element is advanced to bridge the book production line to transfer the backlining material through the book production line to allow at least one of outfitting or retrofitting of the backlining station.

  • Publication number: 20070092357
Abstract: A saddle plate is disposed on a circulating conveyor which moves the saddle plate vertically upward. The saddle plate is arranged to receive a book block in a straddle like fashion with first and second adhesive-coated outside surfaces of book block being exposed. A pressing-on device operates synchronously with the circulating conveyor and includes two pressing-on rollers. Each roller presses a respective first or second book cover of a book casing against a respective first or second adhesive-coated outside surface. First and second drive motors are operatively coupled, respectively, with the pressing-on device and circulating conveyor. A drive control unit, operatively coupled to the first and second drives, controls the first and second drives and controllably links one to another. At least the first drive includes a controllable drive element.

  • Publication number: 20070092356
Abstract: An apparatus for the application of adhesive to the outside surfaces of book blocks to be encased in a casing inside a casing-in machine, includes an adhesive application device having two application rollers arranged opposite each other in an adhesive application area and which roll off respectively one outside surface of a book block that is conveyed while positioned on a saddle plate of a circulating conveyor. Each roller includes a recess that forms a shoulder parallel to the rotational axis, for applying adhesive to the fold region of a book block. The rotational position of the recess can be adjusted based on the position of a specific fold on a book block that passes through the adhesive application area by providing the conveyor and the application rollers with separate drives for an infinitely variable change of the relative position between the saddle plates on the conveyor and the rotational position of the application rollers. The drives are controllably connected by a control unit.

  • Publication number: 20060072983
Abstract: A device for pressing a book casing onto adhesive-coated outer surfaces of a book block includes a circulating conveyor having a perpendicular section and saddle plates arranged to be conveyed upward in the perpendicular section. A press on device, with a press-on region and operating synchronously with the circulating conveyor, includes press-on rollers arranged opposite each other in the press-on region. The rollers respectively press one cover of the casing onto one adhesive-coated outer surface of a book block which is positioned straddling on one of the saddle plates conveyed upward in the perpendicular section of the circulating conveyor. A support plane is provided so that a book casing can be positioned and evenly spread out to match a length of the book block conveyed on the saddle plate. The support plane is arranged so that the book casing thereon can be supplied transversely to the perpendicular conveying section to a holding position for takeover by the book block.

  • Publication number: 20050060661
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that facilitates displaying multiple two-dimensional (2D) windows with related content within a three-dimensional (3D) display model. The system starts by receiving a command to display a first window within the 3D display model. In response to the command, the system displays the content of the first window on a first surface of a 3D object. Next, the system receives a command to display a second window within the 3D display model, wherein content of the second window is related to content of the first window. The system then displays content of the second window on a second surface of the 3D object.
