  • Patent number: 4951567
Abstract: Safety system for a printing machine having at least one machine drive, a brake device and an electronic control system therefor. The electronic control system has power control stages which permit electronic braking of the drive assembly, and a monitoring circuit, to which can be fed nominal and actual values of the speed of the drive assembly, and which actuate the brake device in the case of impermissibly high deviation between a nominal value and an actual value. Accelerations and decelerations necessary in the operation of the printing machine are achieved by suitable control of the respective machine drive.

  • Patent number: 4833764
Abstract: A program-controlled machine tool is described, for machining workpieces by means of rotary tools which can be brought into engagement with a workpiece under timewise control. The workpiece is disposed on a cross table which rests on a program-controlled rotatable workpiece table which in turn is guided along a first main axis. The tool support region has a vertical support post which bears on its top a translational carriage which is vertically adjustable and is movable in a direction perpendicular to the vertical. Such carriage further bears tool mounts. The mounts comprise a common revolving head the rotational axis of which coincides with the vertical movement axis of the said translational carriage. The revolving head has at least two program-controlled rotatable tool tables the rotational axes of which perpendicularly intersect the rotational axis of the revolving head in a single point. The rotatable tool tables are also program-controlled and bear holding members for various working units, e.g.

  • Patent number: 4770562
Abstract: A method of salvaging a pipe conduit which has a predetermined inner diameter and is buried under ground, especially a sewer pipe includes the steps of soaking a resin-absorbing inner layer of a lining hose which further includes an impermeable outer layer that outwardly adjoins and surrounds the inner layer and has an outer diameter which is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the pipe conduit to be salvaged with an amount of a resin that exceeds that needed for saturating the inner layer. The outer layer is perforated to form a plurality of flow-through openings for the resin therein. The lining hose is subsequently introduced in its collapsed state into the pipe conduit.

  • Patent number: 4737202
Abstract: A steel with a carbon content of less than 0.3 percent by weight is used for steel-based components which are subjected to hot forming. A predominantly lower bainite structure is achieved by controlled cooling. The advantage is that components, such as truck steering knuckles, which are forged at temperatures of up to about 1300.degree. C., no longer need be subjected to annealing or tempering after cooling in order to possess good ductility in addition to high strength.

  • Patent number: 4714095
Abstract: A method of salvaging a pipe conduit which is buried under ground, especially a sewer pipe, includes soaking a resin-absorbing inner layer of a lining hose, which further includes an impermeable outer layer that outwardly adjoins and surrounds the inner layer, with a first resin. The lining hose is then placed into the pipe conduit. A surface region of a calibrating hose which is to contact the inner layer of the lining hose is provided with a layer containing a second resin. The lining hose is then shaped to conformingly line the pipe conduit. Such shaping involves introducing the calibrating hose into the lining hose in such a manner that the resin-containing layer of the calibrating hose contacts the inner layer of the lining hose and pressing the calibrating hose against the lining hose to urge the latter against the pipe conduit. Finally, at least one of the first and second resins is hardened.

  • Patent number: 4697971
Abstract: A perfect binder wherein a horizontal table defines an endless oval track for a series of articulately connected tongs each of which has a fixed jaw and a pivotable jaw. The pivotable jaws are articulately connected to discrete levers each of which is pivotable between a first end position in which the work-engaging portions of the jaws cooperate to clamp a stack of sheets between them, and a second end position in which the work-engaging portion of the pivotable jaw is remote from the work-engaging portion of the fixed jaw. Coil springs are provided to urge the levers to either of their end positions. A first fixed cam is provided along the track to pivot the levers to their operative positions before the freshly inserted stacks reach the first treating station, and a second cam is provided adjacent a further portion of the track to pivot the levers to the other end positions in which the treated stacks of sheets can be released or withdrawn.

  • Patent number: 4665678
Abstract: A lightweight construction with sandwich elements consisting of core and covering surfaces may be produced in that high-strength hollow profiles are fixed to a molded frame at a spacing from each other, the remaining space around the hollow profiles is filled with a pressure-resistant casting compound which supports the profiles, and the top layers which determine the bending resistance of the elements are applied thereto. In this manner multidimensionally curved covering surfaces of unlimited size, such as the bodies of boats, can be economically produced.

  • Patent number: 4662979
Abstract: The invention relates to a gluing apparatus which can be used in particular as part of a book casing-in machine. The gluing apparatus includes an application roller for applying a glue layer to a surface to be glued and a dosing roller for dosing the amount of glue. The application roller comprises an axis-parallel depression and the dosing roller comprises an axis-parallel projection engaging in the depression. The profile of the projection (20) of the dosing roller (2) merges from the cylindrical peripheral surface (4) via an involute into a coaxial cylindrical portion (22) of greater diameter while the profile of the depression (10) of the application roller (1) merges from the cylindrical peripheral surface (3) via a curve forming the counter profile to the involute of the projection (20) into a coaxial cylindrical portion (12) of smaller diameter.

  • Patent number: 4659113
Abstract: A method of screening half-tone picture themes, in which the gray tones of the half-tone picture theme are reproduced by changes in the structural width of a basic screen structure having any desired form. The assignment of a gray tone area of the half-tone picture theme to the screen structure width reproducing this gray tone area may be selectively determined. In a photographic version of the inventive method (FIG. 1), a basic screen structure 1 of any form is prepared and used to produce broadening screen structures as negative films 9,11. The same number of tone separations 20,22 is produced as negative films from the picture theme 13 to be screened, each of which tone separations reproduces a certain gray tone area of the half-tone picture theme which can be adjusted by the exposure time.
