The magnetic tape cassette includes an openable front lid and a rear lid arranged so as to cover a front opening of the tape cassette casing and is so constructed that the front and rear lids are provided with facing portions, respectively, which are arranged so as to face each other along an arc defined by the facing portion of the rear lid when the rear lid is pivotally moved relatively to the front lid to cover the protecting space for the magnetic tape and each lid is formed into an arc or slanting plane, resulting in the lids being closely associated with each other to a degree sufficient to ensure satisfactory sealing of the cassette when the front lid is pivotally moved to cover the opening of the casing.

    Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of permitting a hub to be constantly rotated about the center of rotation thereof without any eccentricity, to thereby ensure smooth and stable rotation of the disc. The hub is formed with three drive shaft inserting holes in a manner to be spaced from each other at equal intervals and positioned on a concentric circle of a predetermined radius defined about a center of rotation of the hub. The drive shaft inserting holes each are formed with a linear driven surface which is adapted to be contacted with a drive shaft inserted into the hole. The driven surface may be arranged at an angle of -30 to +30 degrees with respect to the center of rotation of the hub.

Such construction permits the pressing force to be kept constant for a long period of time and effectively prevents damage to the disc, to thereby substantially improve durability and reliability of the disc cartridge while significantly decreasing the number of parts, facilitating assembling of the disc cartridge, and attains a decrease in manufacturing cost. The lifter may be formed at a proximal end thereof with a decreased thickness, to thereby facilitate bending of the lifter.

A first slidable member is cooperatively coupled to the rotary shutter, and a second slidable member is opposed to the first slidable member and adapted to be slid upon engagement with a shutter actuating member when a disk drive is loaded with the disk cartridge. The first and second slidable members having racks on their opposed surfaces interlocked through a gear mechanism for transmitting the motion of the second slidable member to the first slidable member, which in turn, drives the rotary shutter.

    Abstract: A tape cassette housing capable of ensuring safety of a tape cassette in non-use of the tape cassette or during storage and transportation of the tape cassette. The tape cassette housing includes a housing body, a cover, a hinge for relatively openably connecting the housing body and cover to each other, and one or two pairs of projections provided on an inner surface of one of the housing body or cover. The projections are arranged in a manner to positionally correspond to pressing members of a tape cassette for holding reels of the tape cassette through the pressing members when the tape cassette housing is closed while receiving the tape cassette therein, to securely hold the pressing members, resulting in rendering the reels immovable in the tape cassette without any clattering. The housing may be provided with a locking mechanism for locking the housing body and cover together when the tape cassette housing is closed, to thereby further enhance safety of the tape cassette.
