    Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette housing is divided into a major part and a rear frame member attached to the rear end of the major part. The major part is divided into a pair of side frame members which are formed of a material of low friction coefficient and a main body surrounded and held together by the side frame members and rear frame member. The housing is of double-layer structure consisting of inside and outside layers. The inside layers are formed with steps along the edges of the side frame members and the rear frame member, and the outside layers are so formed as to fall onto the steps and extend inwardly of the edges of the side frame members. The main body and side frame members are formed with mutually engageable, temporary fasteners. The outer surface of the outside layer is satin crape finished and at least the interface between the inside and outside layers mirror finished.

A turning shutter having a center at a position separate from the center of the rotary shutter to be rotatable with respect to the center for opening and closing the driving shaft insertion hole is provided. The turning shutter and the rotary shutter are operated cooperatively by charging or removing the disk cartridge in or from a recording/reproducing disk player to open or close the driving shaft insertion hole and the plurality of pickup insertion holes of the case.

    Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of readily and simultaneously accomplishing assembling of a shutter and mounting of the shutter on a casing to improve operating efficiency and workability in manufacturing of the disc cartridge. The disc cartridge includes a shutter formed of a slider and upper and lower shutter plates into a U-shape and a shutter assembling and mounting mechanism. The mechanism includes a pair of engagement holes provided on each of shutter plates and a pair of projections provided on a slider corresponding to each shutter plate and engaged with the holes to carry out secure positioning between the slider and the shutter plate. The mechanism also includes a fit-in element provided on each of the shutter plates and a fit-on element arranged on the slider corresponding to each fit-in element. The fit-in element is securely fitted in the fit-on element to accomplish joining between each of the shutter plate and the slider.

    Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette capable of effectively eliminating a variation in pressure of the elastic pad element during traveling of a magnetic tape and preventing a variation in tension of the tape, to thereby ensure stable and safe traveling of a magnetic tape. The magnetic tape cassette is so constructed that an elastic pad element which is formed into a dogleg shape is supported at the bent portion thereof on a support rod arranged in a casing and a first section of the elastic pad element extending between the support rod and one end of the pad element is arranged so as to extend substantially in the tangential direction of a tape guide roller at the position of the guide roller at which a holding portion of the elastic pad element acts on the guide roller. The first section may be arranged in proximity to the portion of the magnetic tape between the one reel and the guide roller when the holding portion is defined in such a manner as in a conventional magnetic tape cassette typically constructed.

The cassette includes a lock lever regulating mechanism for regulating movement of a lock lever to permit it to be pivotally moved in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction thereof about a holding section of a projection of the lever. The holding section is formed at a position downward apart from the projection and vertically opposite to a lock pawl engaged with the front lid with the projection being interposed therebetween. The lock lever regulating mechanism is constituted by a combination of a position regulating rib provided at the casing and a guide groove formed at the lock lever.

    Abstract: A disk cartridge has a casing of resinous material which receives therein a floppy disk in a rotatable manner, the casing being formed by combining upper and lower half casings with the use of connecting ribs formed on the inner surface of at least one of the upper and lower half casings. The upper and lower half casings respectively have an outer circumferential wall at the circumference of the inner surface and an annular rib at the inner portion of the outer circumferential wall so as to define a floppy disk rotating region, wherein projections are formed in the annular rib of the upper half casing. Recesses are formed in the annular rib of the lower half casing so that the projections and the recesses are fitted to each other in a non-contacting state so as to form a complete annular wall, and sealing ribs are formed on the outer surface of the annular rib of the upper half casing so as to extend over gaps formed at the fitting portion of the projections and recesses.

The slide area defining section is provided on an inner surface thereof with at least one thick-walled portion in a manner to extend along a whole periphery of a portion of the head inserting hole overlapping a sheet-like liner and inwardly project from the inner surface of the casing, so that the liner may be pressed against the disc at a force of a constant level over a wide area of the disc and block a communication between an exterior of the cartridge and its interior through the head inserting hole.
