The hub body has a coefficient of linear expansion below 6 .times.10.sup.-5 cm/cm .degree.C. at -10.degree. to +90.degree. C. The periphery of the hub body can be plated with a metal film.

Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of ensuring smooth sliding of a shutter on a casing while preventing the shutter from striking against or hitching on a periphery of an opening on a closed side. The disc cartridge includes a casing formed with a depression on at least a portion of a guide surface thereof positioned contiguous to an end of a sliding stroke of the shutter when the shutter is slid to close the opening and contiguous to a periphery of the opening on a closed side.

Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette housing is divided into a major part and a rear frame member attached to the rear end of the major part. The major part is divided into a pair of side frame members which are formed of a material of low friction coefficient and a main body surrounded and held together by the side frame members and rear frame member. The housing is of double-layer structure consisting of inside and outside layers. The inside layers are formed with steps along the edges of the side frame members and the rear frame member, and the outside layers are so formed as to fall onto the steps and extend inwardly of the edges of the side frame members. The main body and side frame members are formed with mutually engageable, temporary fasteners. The outer surface of the outside layer is satin crape finished and at least the interface between the inside and outside layers mirror finished.

Abstract: A magnetic tape cartridge which is capable of permitting tape guides and a magnetic tape to exhibit resistance to wear and resistance to scraping sufficient to prevent the wearing of the tape guides and ensure the safe traveling of the magnetic tape over a long period of time, respectively. A polyester film forming a base of the magnetic tape contains a basic filler which absorbs a basic indicator bromothymol blue thereon while keeping it blue and a pair of the tape guides contacted with the polyester film are formed of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyolefin.

Abstract: A casing for receiving a magnetic tape cassette comprises a transparent or semi-transparent casing main body 1 adapted to receive therein a magnetic tape cassette and a cover 3 pivotally supported by the casing main body by way of hinges 2, wherein a rib 10 for restricting the movement of the magnetic tape cassette in the direction of thickness of the casing main body 1 and a rib 9 for restricting the movement of the cassette in the longer side direction of the casing main body 1 are formed in the inner wall at a corner portion of the cover member.

Abstract: A disk cartridge has a case rotatably containing a disk therein and formed with a driving shaft insertion hole and a plurality of pickup insertion holes. A rotary shutter formed with a plurality of window holes at positions corresponding to the plurality of pickup insertion holes and rotatably provided at the driving shaft insertion hole as a center is provided. A turning shutter having a center at a position separate from the center of the rotary shutter to be rotatable with respect to the center for opening and closing the driving shaft insertion hole is provided. The turning shutter and the rotary shutter are operated cooperatively by charging or removing the disk cartridge in or from a recording/reproducing disk player to open or close the driving shaft insertion hole and the plurality of pickup insertion holes of the case.

Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of readily and simultaneously accomplishing assembling of a shutter and mounting of the shutter on a casing to improve operating efficiency and workability in manufacturing of the disc cartridge. The disc cartridge includes a shutter formed of a slider and upper and lower shutter plates into a U-shape and a shutter assembling and mounting mechanism. The mechanism includes a pair of engagement holes provided on each of shutter plates and a pair of projections provided on a slider corresponding to each shutter plate and engaged with the holes to carry out secure positioning between the slider and the shutter plate. The mechanism also includes a fit-in element provided on each of the shutter plates and a fit-on element arranged on the slider corresponding to each fit-in element. The fit-in element is securely fitted in the fit-on element to accomplish joining between each of the shutter plate and the slider.

Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of preventing a recording surface section of a disc from being contacted with an inner surface of a casing so that the disc may be free from any damage. The disc cartridge includes steps or sheet-like members provided on the inner surface of the casing in a manner to be inwardly projected from the inner surface. The steps or sheet-like members are positioned so as to be engaged with a non-recording surface section of the disc to support the disc thereon, so that a clearance may be defined between the recording surface section of the disc and the inner surface of the casing.

Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette capable of effectively eliminating a variation in pressure of the elastic pad element during traveling of a magnetic tape and preventing a variation in tension of the tape, to thereby ensure stable and safe traveling of a magnetic tape. The magnetic tape cassette is so constructed that an elastic pad element which is formed into a dogleg shape is supported at the bent portion thereof on a support rod arranged in a casing and a first section of the elastic pad element extending between the support rod and one end of the pad element is arranged so as to extend substantially in the tangential direction of a tape guide roller at the position of the guide roller at which a holding portion of the elastic pad element acts on the guide roller. The first section may be arranged in proximity to the portion of the magnetic tape between the one reel and the guide roller when the holding portion is defined in such a manner as in a conventional magnetic tape cassette typically constructed.

Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette capable of positively and rapidly accomplishing the lock release operation irrespective of the direction of force applied to a lock release mechanism to open a front lid. The cassette includes a lock lever regulating mechanism for regulating movement of a lock lever to permit it to be pivotally moved in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction thereof about a holding section of a projection of the lever. The holding section is formed at a position downward apart from the projection and vertically opposite to a lock pawl engaged with the front lid with the projection being interposed therebetween. The lock lever regulating mechanism is constituted by a combination of a position regulating rib provided at the casing and a guide groove formed at the lock lever.

Abstract: A disk cartridge comprises a casing formed by combining upper and lower half casings so as to rotatably receive therein a disk-like magnetic medium with a center hub which is connectable to a magnetic recording/reproducing device and a hub-position determining annular rib formed at the central portion of the inner surface of the upper half casing so as to define a rotating region for the hub, wherein the hub-position determining annular rib is discontinuous.

Abstract: A tape cassette is provided which is so constructed that a plurality of weighting members are fittedly held in fitting apertures or recesses of a casing formed at corners of the casing in a detachable manner while being exposed at part thereof on a surface of the casing. Such construction of the cassette not only permits the cassette to exhibit optimum vibration-damping properties to ensure satisfactory recording and reproducing of the cassette and contributes an improvement in mechanical strength of the cassette but provides the cassette with a variation in design sufficient to exhibit good aesthetic properties, to thereby increase a merchandise value of the cassette.

Abstract: A disk cartridge has a casing of resinous material which receives therein a floppy disk in a rotatable manner, the casing being formed by combining upper and lower half casings with the use of connecting ribs formed on the inner surface of at least one of the upper and lower half casings. The upper and lower half casings respectively have an outer circumferential wall at the circumference of the inner surface and an annular rib at the inner portion of the outer circumferential wall so as to define a floppy disk rotating region, wherein projections are formed in the annular rib of the upper half casing. Recesses are formed in the annular rib of the lower half casing so that the projections and the recesses are fitted to each other in a non-contacting state so as to form a complete annular wall, and sealing ribs are formed on the outer surface of the annular rib of the upper half casing so as to extend over gaps formed at the fitting portion of the projections and recesses.

Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of causing movement of a pickup of a cartridge operating unit with respect to the cartridge and a disc to be simplified to efficiently operate the disc with high reliability and accuracy, enlarging a pickup moving area and ensuring free or desired layout of a pickup. In the disc cartridge, a front wall of a casing defining a pickup inserting hole and a slider are formed with first and second thin-walled sections each having the substantially same level as a surface of the disc, so that a pickup moving area may be enlarged sufficiently to permit only horizontal movement of the pickup to be required.

Abstract: A disc cartridge facilitates manufacturing of a shutter plate with manufacturing high yields and also facilitates pressing of the shutter plate, as well as ensuring smooth loading and unloading of the disc cartridge in to a cartridge operating unit. In the disc cartridge, a slider is provided with projections and holes for engagement and each of the shutter plates is provided with an L-shaped connected portion formed with holes and projections respectively engageable with the projections and holes of the slider, and connection of the slider to the shutter plates for assembling a shutter is accomplished through engagement between the projections and holes of the slider and shutter plates while abutting inner and end surfaces of the slider against horizontal and vertical portions of the stepped connected section of each of the shutter plates.

Abstract: A hub to be attached to the central portion of a recording medium comprises a flat plate-like body made of a metallic material, and an annular resinous body firmly attached to the flat plate-like body by insert-molding, wherein at least one bent portion with an opening for connecting the annular resinous body to the flat-plate-like body is formed in the flat plate-like body so that the opening is in parallel to the upper or lower surface of the flat plate-like body.

Abstract: A case consisting of a cover and a case body adapted to mate to form a space for holding a given object has an outside and/or inside layer made wholly or partly of a thermoplastic elastomeric resin. The outside layer is formed of a thermoplastic elastomeric material selected from the group consisting of styrenic, olefinic, esteric, urethanic, polybutadienic, and vinyl chloride type thermoplastic elastomeric materials, and the inside layer is formed of a plastic material selected from the group consisting of polymethyl methacrylate, acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer, polycarbonate, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene, polystyrene, polybutylene terephthalate, high-impact polystyrene and the like, or vice versa.

Abstract: A tape cassette comprises a cassette casing composed of upper and lower halves, wherein fixed tape guides each having a partially or completely cylindrical configuration are disposed along a tape transportation path defined within the casing. Each of the tape guides is secured fixedly by press-fitting it onto a continuous or discontinuous polygonal supporting rib dimensioned to be circumscribed by the tape guide.

Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of readily fitting a holding plate in a casing to facilitate assembling of the cartridge without using any adhesion. Shutter plates each are formed at its distal end with a depression which is slidably interposed between a recess of the casing and the holding plate received in the recess and holding elements are provided at the casing and positioned above the holding plate in a manner to overhang the recess, resulting in positively and stably holding the holding plate in the recess, so that the holding plate may be readily arranged fitted in the casing by merely inserting it in the recess.

Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of preventing entering of dust into a casing and ensuring a stable and positive operation without damaging a disc while satisfactorily exhibiting a cleaning effect and keeping proper contact between a recording head and the disc. A casing is provided thereon with a slide area which is formed by a slide area defining section of the casing. The slide area is formed with at least one head inserting hole. The slide area defining section is provided on an inner surface thereof with at least one thick-walled portion in a manner to extend along a whole periphery of a portion of the head inserting hole overlapping a sheet-like liner and inwardly project from the inner surface of the casing, so that the liner may be pressed against the disc at a force of a constant level over a wide area of the disc and block a communication between an exterior of the cartridge and its interior through the head inserting hole.
