  • Patent number: 4845582
Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of holding a disc in a casing in a state of floating in a space in the casting to keep it in noncontact with the casing when the disc cartridge is not used. The disc cartridge includes an actuator arranged in a casing receiving a disc therein to releasable lock a shutter for a window and a disc receiver arranged in the casing and operatively connected to the actuator to selectively receive therein a part of a peripheral portion of the disc. The actuator is arranged to be slidable in a longitudinal direction of the disc cartridge to cause the disc receiver to be approachably moved with respect to the disc, so that the disc receiver may be engaged with the disc to rearwardly force the disc while keeping the disc in noncontact with the casing when the shutter is actuated to close the window and disengaged from the disc when the shutter is actuated to open the window.

  • Patent number: 4837651
Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of preventing a recording surface section of a disc from being contacted by a casing and placing the disc at a proper position in the casing without damaging and polluting, to thereby ensure the safe and smooth operation of the disc in the casing. The disc cartridge includes a pair of disc receivers each of which is formed therein with a recess for receiving a peripheral portion of the disc. The recess has an end surface contacting an outer periphery of the disc, which is formed into a substantially sideways V-shape of which an apex is positioned at substantially a center of the end surface to position the outer periphery of the disc at the center of the end surface.

  • Patent number: 4812936
Abstract: In a magnetic tape cassette having a housing and a cover mounted thereon, contaminants are prevented from passing into the housing interior at the point where the cover is mounted on the cassette, and thereby prevented from reaching the magnetic tape mounted in the interior of the housing. This is attained by partitioning an interior of the housing adjacent a wall portion thereof, into an outer contaminant-receiving compartment at which the cover is pivotally mounted, and an inner tape-receiving compartment. The partition prevents any communication between these two respective compartments.

  • Patent number: 4802047
Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of effectively preventing a shutter from being opened even when any unexpected shock is suddenly applied to the disc cartridge during non-use of the disc cartridge. The disc cartridge includes a connection mechanism for operatively connecting to disc receivers, actuators for releasably locking the shutter. The connection mechanism is constituted by a guide groove provided in the actuator and formed into a substantially sideways U-shape, and a guide pin provided on the disc receiver and movably fitter within the guide groove. The guide pin is spaced from two surfaces of the guide groove opposite to the guide pin, in the actuating direction of the actuator. Also, the disc cartridge includes a substantially V-shaped spring for constantly positioning the guide pin within the guide groove and forcing the disc receiver to return to its original position to keep the guide pin apart from the opposite surfaces of the guide groove.

  • Patent number: 4799122
Abstract: A disc cartridge capable for ensuring smooth movement of a disc receiver for a long period of time with high reliability. The disc cartridge includes a pivot pin on which a disc receiver is supported so as to be pivotally movable about the pivot pin and which is mounted on a lower inner surface of a casing to inwardly project therefrom. The pivot pin cooperates with a bearing mounted on an upper inner surface of the casing to constantly form a gap in a thickness direction of the casing in the casing which has a distance sufficient to ensure smooth pivotal movement of the disc receiver about the pivot pin in the casing.

  • Patent number: 4787006
Abstract: A magnetic disc cartridge is composed of a pair of upper and lower case members so as to form a hard case to accommodate a magnetic disc therein. An aperture for access of a read-write head to the magnetic disc extends in a radial direction, which aperture is selectively covered by a shutter. The case has a groove on the peripheral edge thereof to receive a shutter actuation pin. The groove extends across the adjoining surfaces of the two case members. A groove portion defined by the lower case member is more enlarged than the remaining groove portion defined by the upper case member so that the shutter actuation pin does not catch in the step between the two groove portions.
