Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette capable of highly improving workability and productivity in its manufacturing while ensuring its satisfactory function. The cassette includes a spring for constantly urging each of hub braking levers in a direction of engaging the lever with a reel hub to selectively lock the reel hub. The spring is formed so as to have a substantially straightly extending or flat shape when it is unloaded or in a free state and arranged in a casing in a manner to be constantly kept deflected by cooperation of an urging element and a support element each provided on the hub braking lever and a holding element provided on the casing and constantly abuttedly held at one end thereof on a contact element provided on the hub braking lever.

Abstract: Tape guides for a magnetic tape cassette comprise a half of cylindrical tube each adapted to fit securely over a support post within the housing of the cassette. The method of manufacturing the guides consists of forming thin-walled portions as grooves on at least the inner or outer side of a tube, with or without inwardly protruding ribs, which facilitate the division and provide a tight fit of the half piece to the post, and then dividing the tube along the plane into two halves. The tube is made of a metal, particularly brass or stainless steel, or plastics and formed by drawing or other irregular-shape forming technique, with polishing, plating, and/or precision polishing before division.

Abstract: A disc cartridge facilitates manufacturing of a shutter plate with manufacturing high yields and also facilitates pressing of the shutter plate, as well as ensuring smooth loading and unloading of the disc cartridge in a cartridge operating unit. In the disc cartridge, a slider is provided with projections and holes for engagement and each of the shutter plates is provided with an L-shaped connected portion formed with holes and projections respectively engageable with the projections and holes of the slider, and connection of the slider to the shutter plates for assembling a shutter is accomplished through engagement between the projections and holes of the slider and shutter plates while abutting inner and end surfaces of the slider against horizontal and vertical portions of the stepped connected section of each of the shutter plates.

Each of a pair elastic members respectively mounted on the upper and lower inner surfaces of a casing forcibly presses a sheet-like liner situated between the elastic member and a disc against the disc through a projection portion having a predetermined length formed as part of the elastic member, resulting in the liner contacting the disc with a force at substantially a constant level for a long period of time.

Abstract: A disk cartridge includes upper and lower half casings to be assembled to form a hard casing, a magnetic disk held in the casing in a rotatable manner and lining members attached to the inner surfaces of the upper and lower half casings, wherein the lining member has a laminated structure which includes an attracting layer as a base layer for attracting dust and a smooth layer having a large number of apertures which is laminated on at least one surface of the base layer.

The tape cassette includes a casing consisting of upper casing member and lower casing member which are integrally made into a two-layer structure of a primary resin layer and a secondary resin layer integrally formed by two-layer molding. The secondary resin layer is formed with a plurality of penetrations and the primary resin layer is joined to the secondary resin layer in a manner to be fitted in the penetrations, resulting in being integral with the secondary resin layer.

Abstract: A reel for a magnetic tape comprises a hub in a cylindrical form with a boss at its upper surface, a lower flange formed at the lower part of the hub by one-piece molding, an upper flange with an aperture for allowing insertion of the boss, the upper flange being fitted to the hub, wherein the boss is formed in a tapered shape, and a fitting ring formed of the same material as the boss and having a fitting opening having a diameter smaller than the greatest diameter of the tapered boss. The fitting ring is mounted on the hub interposing the upper flange therebetween by inserting the boss in the fitting opening of the fitting ring and by connecting the inner circumference of the fitting opening to the outer periphery of the tapered boss by melt-bonding.

Abstract: A locking mechanism for a front cover of a magnetic tape cassette which occupies only a small space is disclosed.The locking mechanism comprises a locking lever provided in at least one of the both ends of the cassette case, an elastic member always deflecting the locking lever toward an end plate of the front cover of the cassette case and an achoring member provided in one of end plates of the front cover so as to be engageable with an anchoring click of the locking lever, and the locking lever is slidably guided by a guiding mechanism formed in the cassette case.

Abstract: An improved guide member assembly in a cassette for guiding the travel of web-like data carrying material includes a support base provided on the cassette, a supporting shaft mounted on the support base, guide means rotatably mounted on the supporting shaft having a peripheral data carrying material guiding surface and fluid lubricant disposed between the supporting shaft and guide means. A device is provided for reliably preventing any of such fluid lubricant from accumulating on and adhering to the data carrying material guiding surface of the guide means.

Abstract: In a tape cassette housing including a lid which protects the tape at the front of the housing, and a lid locking member turnably pivoted in the housing and having two leg levers, one to lock the lid when the latter closes the front opening of the housing and the other to release the lid when the same is turned open, the distance between the rotational center of the pivot of the lid locking member and the crown of its head is longer than the distance between the center of pivot bearing in the housing and the rear wall of a space in which the lid locking member is mounted.

Abstract: A casing for a magnetic tape cassette capable of effectively and precisely actuating a slider. The casing includes a casing body having an upper casing member and a lower casing member joined together. The slider is slidably mounted on the lower casing member so as to cover at least a part of a bottom and a side of the lower casing member. The upper casing member is provided at a rear portion of both sides thereof with holding members through which the casing is grasped. The holding members are separated or isolated from the slider, to assure smooth sliding movement of the slider. The casing body may be provided on both sides thereof with reliefs which serve to prevent the holding members from interfering with movement of the slider.
