    Abstract: Tape guides for a magnetic tape cassette comprise a half of cylindrical tube each adapted to fit securely over a support post within the housing of the cassette. The method of manufacturing the guides consists of forming thin-walled portions as grooves on at least the inner or outer side of a tube, with or without inwardly protruding ribs, which facilitate the division and provide a tight fit of the half piece to the post, and then dividing the tube along the plane into two halves. The tube is made of a metal, particularly brass or stainless steel, or plastics and formed by drawing or other irregular-shape forming technique, with polishing, plating, and/or precision polishing before division.

The fitting ring is mounted on the hub interposing the upper flange therebetween by inserting the boss in the fitting opening of the fitting ring and by connecting the inner circumference of the fitting opening to the outer periphery of the tapered boss by melt-bonding.

The spring has free ends and urges the brake in a direction. A device for positioning the spring includes a partition wall on the inner surface of the lower half of the case which partitions the open case from the inside of the case. An independent abutment member on the partition wall abuts the free ends of the spring.

The holding members are separated or isolated from the slider, to assure smooth sliding movement of the slider.
