  • Patent number: 5265701
Abstract: In an elevator, for controlling the upward and downward movement of a cage, a shoe is brought into and out of pressing contact with a drum or a disk of a brake by a combination of a spring and a hydraulic cylinder. The optimum braking force is determined in accordance with the inertial mass and the speed of the cage to be braked, and the fluid pressure is controlled to control the force of pressing of the shoe against the drum or the disk, so that the brake can always produce the optimum braking force. A controller for controlling the pressure of the hydraulic cylinder is operated by an emergency power source. The brake can be controlled with a high responsibility and its braking force can be controlled arbitrarily, and even in the event of a power failure, the brake can be operated by the emergency power source of a small-capacity.

  • Patent number: 5253846
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling drive or operation of a quenching car and/or a bucket car for a coke oven and a method therefor, capable of effectively accomplishing the automatic control of the operation of the quenching car/bucket car. A quenching car/bucket car is adapted to travel on a track due to traction by a wire rope through a winch structure, to thereby reduce the load of the quenching car/bucket car applied to the track surface to prevent positional variations on the track surface. This results in the relative positional relationship of the track surface to a quenching tower, a coke wharf/CDQ and the like being ensured.

  • Patent number: 5250420
Abstract: A method for determining dehydrogenase or its substrate in dehydrogenase reaction, which comprises subjecting a dehydrogenase and its substrate to dehydrogenase reaction in the presence of an electron carrier or a combination of a coenzyme and an electron carrier, allowing to form H.sub.2 O.sub.2 through transfer of electrons derived from the substrate by the dehydrogenase reaction to O.sub.2 via the electron carrier or via the coenzyme and electron carrier, stopping the dehydrogenase reaction, reacting said H.sub.2 O.sub.2 with a peroxidase and a chromogen, and measuring a formed dye, and a reagent for determining dehydrogenase or its substrate. By the method and the reagent, dehydrogenase or its substrate can be accurately determined in a short time regardless of the concentration of the dehydrogenase and/or the substrate and without staining tubes or cells of a determination device with a dye.

  • Patent number: 5229235
Abstract: An electrophotographic process uses a developer in which the colorant is dispersed in an electrically insulating organic material being solid at room temperature and liquified by heating. The developer is superior in ease of handling and capable of producing stable images at all times. An electrostatic latent image is wet developed by the developer. For recording and preserving the developed image, it is transferred to a transfer substrate. The developed image is transferred by contact of a photoconductor with the transfer substrate, or by peeling a film from a photoconductor.

  • Patent number: 5116714
Abstract: An image forming material is provided in which a developer container containing a developer consisting of an electrically insulating organic material which is solid at ambient temperature and which may be liquefied on heating, and wherein colorant particles are dispersed in the material, is made as one with a photosensitive base on which to form an electrostatic latent image. With such image forming material, the developer required in the developing process is incorporated in the photosensitive base to permit image formation and storage by the electrophotographic process to be performed as easily as in so-called instant photography. When the outer size of the image forming material or that of the separated photosensitive base is of the 35 mm format slide size, the imaging material or the base may be attached directly to a slide projector or the like to permit the image information to be easily seen.

  • Patent number: 5108037
Abstract: A fuel injection valve (10) has a valve member (2) arranged to be controllably movable in an axial direction toward and away from a circular valve seat (4) so as to control fuel flow from a port (5) downstream from the valve seat. An axial fuel passage (7) extends from upstream of the valve seat (4) through a clearance between the seating portion and the seat (4) for producing a substantially non-swirling fuel flow from the port (5). A transverse fuel passage (8) is also provided and the transverse fuel passage extends transversely to the axial passage and communicates with the axial fuel passage at a location offset to a diameter of the valve seat for producing a swirling fuel flow from the port (5). A combination of swirling and non-swirling fuel flow is thus supplied by the port (5), for producing finer fuel droplets of improved distribution.

  • Patent number: 4690511
Abstract: A liquid crystal color display panel using a mosaic color filter and a twisted nematic liquid crystal layer arranged between a pair of linear polarizers and driven by a mosaic array of dot electrodes. An auxiliary glass plate quite thin in thickness is bonded onto the mosaic color filter built on the inner surface of a transparent plate, and the mosaic array of dot electrodes is formed on the inner surface of the auxiliary glass plate. With this structure, the liquid crystal layer and the mosaic color filter are separated only by the extremely thin auxiliary glass plate, and, therefore, a color disregistration due to parallax is minimized. The fragile auxiliary glass plate is reinforced by the strong back transparent plate.

  • Patent number: 4659139
Abstract: A roof structure for a vehicular sun-roof device is provided including a roof panel having an upper and lower face and an opening therein. A downwardly bent extension projects downward from the roof panel. A stiffener is mounted between the downwardly bent extension and the lower face of the roof panel. A marginal opening edge is formed by the downwardly bent extension and the stiffener and includes a lower end. A sun-roof frame is operatively positioned and affixed adjacent to and spaced from the marginal opening edge. A seal is provided attached to the lower end of the marginal opening edge for abutting against the sun-roof frame to close the space between the marginal opening edge and the sun-roof frame. The roof structure reduces the space necessary to support a sun-roof device thereby increasing the area of the opening in the roof panel.
