  • Patent number: 11977764
Abstract: An administrative terminal receives designation of generation target data and of a generation destination storage device and identifies data similar to the target data. The terminal calculates a first predicted time expected for transmitting the target data from a storage device holding the target data to the generation destination storage device, and a second predicted time expected to be required for a second transmission process of transmitting the similar data from an object storage service to the generation destination storage device and of transmitting difference data between the target data and the similar data from the storage device holding the target data to the generation destination storage device. If the second predicted time is shorter than the first predicted time, the administrative terminal performs the second transmission process to transmit the similar data and the difference data to the generation destination storage device to generate the generation target data therein.

  • Publication number: 20240111638
Abstract: In failover processing, a CPU restores data stored in a first volume to a second volume of a storage system, associates a unique ID of the first volume with the second volume, and stores the unique ID associated therewith in a memory. After the failover processing is completed, the CPU manages an update difference management bitmap indicating an updated content with respect to data stored in the second volume. The CPU transmits, in failback processing, update data updated after the failover processing among the data stored in the second volume to the first volume identified by the unique ID associated with the second volume based on the update difference management bitmap.

  • Publication number: 20240036989
Abstract: A management server stops a sub-server in advance and prepares a sub-storage that operates in response to a request from the sub-server at the time of transition at which a business process of using data stored in a regular storage is performed in the sub-server. The management server recovers data using recovery data stored in an object storage and stores the data in the sub-storage and starts the sub-server.

  • Patent number: 11275511
Abstract: The accuracy of predicting the remaining life of a non-volatile memory in which WA occurs is enhanced. A storage controller predicts the remaining lives of SSDs on the basis of the data storage rates of the respective SSDs. When the storage controller determines that a life expectation result on one SSD does not satisfy a target operation period while a life expectation result on another SSD satisfies the target operation period, the storage controller executes extent migration processing of migrating data in any data stored extent to an extent in which data has not been stored, thereby decreasing the data storage rate of the one SSD to extend the life of the one SSD.

  • Patent number: 11256449
Abstract: A storage system includes controllers, physical storage devices, and logical storage devices to which storage areas are assigned from the physical storage devices. The controllers each have the physical storage device being different from that of each other and the host connected thereto being different from that of each other, and are each able to access the physical storage device and the host that are not connected thereto, through another controller. Any one of the controllers has an ownership to process an access request concerning the logical storage device. At least one controller determines that the ownership is caused to be moved among the controllers, based on an index of accesses to the physical storage device that includes the storage area to be assigned to the logical storage device and an index of accesses to the host that accesses the logical storage device.

  • Patent number: 11216336
Abstract: It is assumed that at least one of the plurality of nonvolatile semiconductor memory devices is a nonvolatile semiconductor memory device (hereinafter, referred to as a first memory device) in a low power consumption state in which error check processing and refresh processing cannot be performed. A storage apparatus releases a low power consumption state of a first memory device at a timing according to a lapsed time after the first memory device is in the low power consumption state and an estimated ambient temperature of the first memory device at the lapsed time. When the low power consumption state is released, the first memory device executes the error check processing and the refresh processing.

  • Patent number: 10802958
Abstract: A storage device determines whether or not reading target data subjected to a first conversion process is divided and stored into multiple pages. When the data subjected to the first conversion process is stored in one of a plurality of pages, the data is read from the page, and a second conversion process for returning the data to a state before the data is subjected to the first conversion process is executed to the data. When the reading target data is divided and stored into two or more of the plurality of pages, a portion of the data is read from each of the two or more pages in which the portion of the data is stored, the portion of the data is stored in the buffer memory, the data subjected to the first conversion process is restored, and the second conversion process is executed to the restored data.

  • Patent number: 10545684
Abstract: A storage device relating to one aspect of the present invention has a storage controller and multiple memory devices. The memory devices manage capacity equivalent to the size of a memory space provided to the storage controller among regions of a non-volatile storage medium as logical capacity and manage the remaining regions as reserve capacity. When a device controller determines that a portion of the memory regions in the non-volatile storage medium is in an unusable state, the device controller notifies the storage controller of the size of the memory regions in the unusable state. On the basis of a policy set by the memory device, the storage controller determines the reduction amount of the logical capacity and the reserve capacity and notifies the memory device of the determined reduction amount of the logical capacity.
