  • Patent number: 11151125
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for efficiently storing information identifying journey instances within unstructured event data of a data intake and processing system. Each journey instance is illustratively associated with a series of events within the unstructured event data occurring over a journey duration. Because the unstructured event data may be constantly updated, any given inspection of the event data may yield both complete and incomplete instances. Storage of instance data over time can require updating of prior incomplete journey instances with complete versions of such instance detected at a later point in time. However, a data store of the unstructured event data may be unsuited for such updating, as the store may maintain version information for deleted data to reduce possibility of data loss. To address this issue, a separate structured data store, such as a columnar time series data store, is provided to efficiently store instance information.

  • Patent number: 11035225
Abstract: A downhole tool, such as a logging-while-drilling tool, includes hydraulics that can provide real-time, automated control of the position of the downhole tool relative to a formation face. The positioning of the downhole tool is accomplished using processor-control of the hydraulics and using fluid present within the downhole tool, for example, mud from the downhole tool's mud bore. During operation the processor receives a signal that is indicative of the distance between the tool and a formation wall in the wellbore. The processor uses this information to position the downhole tool relative to the formation face by controlled injection of fluid into the annulus around the downhole tool. The reaction force from the pressure acts against the tool and pushes the downhole tool towards the opposite side where the annular pressure is lower.

  • Patent number: 10944697
Abstract: A sliding window buffer is implemented on a local computing device that places chunks of content from a data source into a local buffer for transmission on a per-chunk basis. A portion of memory in the local buffer can be re-used for a single data transmission operation until the content is fully transmitted to a remote computing device. Logical positions on the local buffer which correlate to inner positions on the data source are utilized to enable the sliding window buffer to retrieve and retransmit chunks of data, if necessary. An inner position indicates a byte location in the data source and a logical position indicates a corresponding byte position in the local buffer. The local computing device can utilize byte positions to retrieve and re-transmit chunks of data if, for example, the device fails to receive an acknowledgement from the remote computing device for any of the data.
