  • Publication number: 20200305730
Abstract: A computerized information processing method for evaluating blood vessels is provided. The method includes acquiring a series of sequences of measurements, each at different time points in at least one cardiac cycle and at a different point along a blood vessel segment of a subject, generating corresponding profiles, calculating a transfer function for a subsegment between two selected points along a blood flow direction, and based thereon determining the physiological property of the subsegment. The measurements can contain information of blood velocity or blood pressure. A processing device and system implementing the information processing method are also provided. This approach can be used to evaluate arteries or veins and can be applied in screening, diagnosis, or prognosis of a variety of vascular diseases. For example, when combined with MRI scan, this approach can be used for non-invasively diagnosing pulmonary hypertension (PH) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), etc.

  • Publication number: 20200314034
Abstract: A sliding window buffer is implemented on a local computing device that places chunks of content from a data source into a local buffer for transmission on a per-chunk basis. A portion of memory in the local buffer can be re-used for a single data transmission operation until the content is fully transmitted to a remote computing device. Logical positions on the local buffer which correlate to inner positions on the data source are utilized to enable the sliding window buffer to retrieve and retransmit chunks of data, if necessary. An inner position indicates a byte location in the data source and a logical position indicates a corresponding byte position in the local buffer. The local computing device can utilize byte positions to retrieve and re-transmit chunks of data if, for example, the device fails to receive an acknowledgement from the remote computing device for any of the data.

Abstract: A fuel, an oxidant, and a diluent can be introduced to a combustion zone, wherein the oxidant comprises air, oxygen-enriched air, or oxygen-lean air. At least a portion of the fuel can be combusted to produce an exhaust gas comprising, nitrogen, nitrogen oxides, and carbon monoxide. The exhaust gas can be expanded to produce mechanical power and an expanded exhaust gas. A concentration of at least one of oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide, in the exhaust gas or the expanded exhaust gas or both can be determined, and an amount of the oxidant or the fuel introduced to the combustion zone, or both, can be adjusted based on the determined concentration to produce an exhaust gas containing a combined amount of oxygen and carbon monoxide of less than about 2 mol % and a nitrogen concentration ranging from 20 mol % to 75 mol %.

  • Patent number: 10550341
Abstract: Methods are provided for producing lubricant base stocks from deasphalted oils formed by sequential deasphalting. The deasphalted oil can be exposed a first deasphalting process using a first solvent that can provide a lower severity of deasphalting and a second deasphalting process using a second solvent that can provide a higher severity of deasphalting. This can result in formation of at least a deasphalted oil and a resin fraction. The resin fraction can represent a fraction that traditionally would have been included as part of a deasphalter rock fraction.

  • Publication number: 20190242248
Abstract: A downhole tool, such as a logging-while-drilling tool, includes hydraulics that can provide real-time, automated control of the position of the downhole tool relative to a formation face. The positioning of the downhole tool is accomplished using processor-control of the hydraulics and using fluid present within the downhole tool, for example, mud from the downhole tool's mud bore. During operation the processor receives a signal that is indicative of the distance between the tool and a formation wall in the wellbore. The processor uses this information to position the downhole tool relative to the formation face by controlled injection of fluid into the annulus around the downhole tool. The reaction force from the pressure acts against the tool and pushes the downhole tool towards the opposite side where the annular pressure is lower.
