  • Patent number: 4574905
Abstract: An apparatus for electronically controlling the steering force needed to operate the handle of a vehicle, according to the velocity of the vehicle and the angular displacement of the handle. The apparatus includes a memory for storing various characteristic maps of different steering characteristics, a selecting switch for selecting one of these maps, and a control circuit for applying the electric current depending on the selected map to the solenoid of a flow control means which controls the pressure flow supplied to the power cylinder of a power steering system. The driver of the vehicle can select any desired control pattern from the memory by operating the selecting switch.

  • Patent number: 4346535
Abstract: In a cam grinding machine, a first diaphragm chuck is provided on a spindle rotatably supported on a rocking table for clamping one journal portion of a cam shaft and a second diaphragm chuck is provided on a support spindle rotatably and slidably supported by a tailstock in coaxial alignment with the spindle for clamping another journal portion of the cam shaft. Accordingly, cam portions of the cam shaft are ground with journal portions of the cam shaft being used as a reference.

  • Patent number: 4266374
Abstract: A grinding machine comprising a truing apparatus for truing a grinding wheel made of cubic boron nitride. A traverse carriage of the truing apparatus is mounted for movement in a direction parallel to the axis of the grinding wheel. A truing head carrying a truing wheel is mounted on the traverse carriage for movement toward and away from the grinding surface of the grinding wheel. A detection member is mounted on the truing head to be movable toward the grinding wheel. The truing head is first fed toward the grinding wheel until the contact between the detection member and the grinding wheel is detected. The truing head is then fed toward the grinding wheel by a truing amount in response to the detection of the contact between the detection member and the grinding wheel.

  • Patent number: 4259940
Abstract: A grinding machine wherein a novel arrangement is provided to effect truing and dressing on a surface of a grinding wheel made of hard material such as cubic boron nitride. The arrangement comprises a truing wheel coaxially fixed on one end of a work head spindle of the grinding machine for truing the grinding wheel surface and a dressing roll coaxially fixed on one end of the work head spindle in juxtaposed relation with the truing wheel for backing up free abrasive grains supplied between the grinding wheel and the dressing roll during dressing.

  • Patent number: 4122635
Abstract: A grinding machine, having a wheel carrier with a rotatable cubic boron nitride grinding wheel mounted on a bed. The wheel carrier is slidable with respect to a work support device and a truing device, which are selectively opposed to the grinding wheel through movement of a traverse table. Feed and feed control devices are provided to feed the wheel carrier from a transient original position to an advanced position in a grinding operation. A detecting device is further provided to detect an absolute original position of the wheel carrier. The feed control device is arranged such that, whenever a truing instruction is supplied, the wheel carrier is retracted to the absoluted original position and then, is advanced therefrom to a truing position incremented by a predetermined truing infeed amount from the advanced position.

  • Patent number: 4121385
Abstract: A headstock for a cam grinding machine comprising a headstock housing for housing a work spindle rotatably supported on a rocking table which is urged by means of springs to be pivoted so as to contact master cams carried on the work spindle with a follower roller. The headstock housing is provided with a pair of spaced through bores co-axially extending in parallel relation with the work spindle. A follower support assembly and a wheel support assembly are held in engagement with the bores in the headstock housing in a manner of selective use, so that the follower roller and a master cam grinding wheel are selectively supported with the same support reference, to be rotatable about the axis of the bores.

  • Patent number: 4099349
Abstract: In a cam grinding machine, first and second support means are mounted on a first surface of a traverse table for swingably supporting a swing table at opposite ends thereof. A third support means is arranged between the first and second support means and mounted on a second surface of the traverse table. The second surface is lower than the first surface. A shaft is rotatably supported by the third support means and a tightening means is provided for fixing the opposite ends of the shaft into bores formed on inside walls of the swing table.
