    Abstract: A thermal printhead (A) includes an insulating substrate (10) having an upper surface (10a) and a side surface (10b), and a heat retaining glaze layer (11) formed on the substrate (10). A heating resistor (13) is formed on the glaze layer (11). The thermal printhead (A) further includes a common electrode (12) and a plurality of individual electrodes. The common electrode (12) has a plurality of teeth (12a) connected to the heating resistor (13), and a connecting portion (12b) which connects the teeth (12a) with each other. An electrode auxiliary layer (14) is formed on the connecting portion (12b). The heating resistor (13) and the electrode auxiliary layer (14) are covered with an overcoat layer (16) which is, in turn, covered with a protective layer (17). The connecting portion (12b) of the common electrode (12) directly contacts both the glaze layer (11) and the upper surface (10a) of the substrate.

    Abstract: A telephone connection is established between a pushbutton telephone set and one of telephone lines through a pushbutton telephone set unit, a speech highway, and a telephone line unit. When one of line and extension keys of the pushbutton telephone set is pressed by the user during the telephone connection, a CPU in a control unit determines whether the telephone connection is being made based on the period of time that has elapsed after the pushbutton telephone set has captured the telephone line. If the telephone connection is being made as determined by the CPU, then the CPU controls a time switch circuit according to hold function data stored in a RAM to connect the telephone line unit to a hold tone generator through the speech highway, thus holding the telephone connection. Thereafter, the CPU captures a telephone line corresponding to the depressed one of the line and extension keys.

The sample pickup rod with attached dejection is inserted into the inner plug. Excessive sample attached to the outer surface of the sample pickup rod is scraped off by the scrape section. The scraped, excessive sample is accommodated and sealed within an excessive sample room between the inner plug and the sample pickup rod.
