  • Patent number: 6507697
Abstract: This invention relates to a data recording and reproduction apparatus, and a method and a system for sending out data for preparing a log file of material codes and a sending time. The video server comprises a storage means utilizing a randomly accessible storage media, and a server controller for controlling the storage means and multiple input and output ports connected to the storage means. The input port includes a multiplexer for inserting the material code to identify video source onto compressed video signals derived from video signals fed to the input ports. Video signals with their material codes superimposed thereon are recorded as video sources on the storage means. A material code is extracted from any video signal that is reproduced, and a log file of the sending data (sending time and data including material code relating to the sent-out material) is generated.

  • Patent number: 6494094
Abstract: A conventional angular rate sensor has a problem that the displacement amplitude of a drive gimbal frame is limited due to the Pulled-in phenomenon where the drive gimbal frame is attached to drive electrodes, thereby decreasing its sensor sensitivity. In an angular rate sensor, a drive frame and a driven frame are separately provided. A bending oscillation of the drive frame is transmitted to the driven frame through link beams, causing the rotational oscillation of the driven frame. The displacement amplitude of a rotational oscillation of the driven frame is not limited to provide high sensor sensitivity.

  • Publication number: 20020159683
Abstract: A mechanical optic switch is disclosed that is of high miller quality, high in the accuracy of opto-axial alignment between a miller and a fiber aligning structure and yet of low insertion loss, permitting fiber optic switching by an electromagnetic force. It is made by a crystallographically oriented face dependent etching process, which simultaneously forms in a Si (100) crystallographically faced single crystal substrate (1), V-grooves (3) for fixing optical fibers (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) with the V-groove's longitudinal axes oriented in the <110> crystallographic direction or in a direction equivalent thereto; and a resilient support beam (5) and a miller (4, 6) with the longitudinal axis of the resilient support beam and the miller surface of the miller oriented in the <100> direction or in a direction equivalent thereto. Slitting into the substrate from a rear surface thereof by etching renders the support beam resilient and flexible.

  • Patent number: 6461337
Abstract: An electrostatic microactuator, known as a “Scratch Drive Actuator” or SDA, is based on a collective set of distributed elementary SDAs of small size that are associated with one another and that integrates a large number so as to allow the addition of the forces generated by each of the SDAs in the collective set. An external mechanical prestress, formed by a homogeneous external pressure in the form of a bias voltage applied at rest to the associated SDAs, is applied to the SDAs to allow a superposition of the forces generated by the associated SDAs. This is done while communicating to an external load the entire driving force emanating from the collective behavior of the SDAs. The electrostatic attraction forces established by the bias voltage are used to calibrate an individualized prestress for each actuator involved in the collective set.

  • Patent number: 6462563
Abstract: A fingerprint reading system is provided with enhanced versatility and reduced cost. The fingerprint reading sensor includes a group of first electrodes arranged in a plurality of lines extending in a first direction, a group of second electrodes arranged in a plurality of lines extending in a second direction intersecting the first direction above the first electrode group through an interlayer insulating film, and a surface protective film formed of a dielectric material provided on the second electrode group. Drive circuits detect electrostatic capacity between each of the electrodes and a finger touching the surface protective film by sequentially applying a predetermined voltage to both groups of electrodes and measuring a change in the electrostatic capacity at each point where a second electrode crosses over a first electrode.

  • Patent number: 6453117
Abstract: An image from a camera is to be recorded and reversion is to be made to an image of an optional scene to reproduce an image of such scene. To this end, a CPU 20 converts image signals at a rate of 90 frames per second from a camera device 10 into parallel signals to output image signals of the usual rate of 30 frames per second. A video server 30 records the image signals from the CCU 20 on a RAID 32. If a pre-set scene is to be reproduced, the image signals are read out from the RAID 32 in the order of the original image signals to output the read-out image signals to outside.

  • Patent number: 6441615
Abstract: A crossed-ladder RF coil assembly (48) is employed for quadrature excitation and/or reception in an open or vertical field magnetic resonance apparatus. The RF coil assembly (48, 70, 90) includes a pair of coil assemblies (50, 52; 70, 72; 100, 102) which are disposed in a parallel relationship. Coil arrays (50, 52; 100, 102) include at least two ladder RF coils (501, 502, 503; 521, 522, 523; 1001 . . . , 1008; 1021, . . . , 1028) which are disposed in an overlapping relationship and are rotated by 90° relative to one another. Each ladder RF coil of one coil array is rotated by 90° relative to adjoining ladder coils and each corresponding ladder RF coil of the other coil array. The crossed-ladder RF coil assembly provides better B1 field uniformity and elongated anatomical coverage for spine and neck imaging. In addition, the RF coil assembly reduces noise from the body at higher fields in vertical field magnetic resonance systems.

  • Patent number: 6411770
Abstract: The endless recording which enables partial saving of recording contents and facilitates editing or management is to be achieved. To this end, if recording has been made for a pre-set time, such as one hour, a new region is secured to continue the recording, at the same time as a region carrying the oldest recorded contents is sequentially evacuated in an amount equal to the newly secured region. The partial saving region (00:10:00:00 to 00:20:00:00) is not to be evacuated.

  • Patent number: 6404199
Abstract: A quadrature RF coil assembly (48) is employed for quadrature excitation and/or reception in an open or vertical field magnetic resonance apparatus. The quadrature RF coil (48) includes a plurality of parallel rung elements (70, 72, 74, 76, 78). A pair of electrical conductive end segments (80, 82) connect the plurality of rung elements. Capacitive elements (CV, CA) interrupt a central rung element and the end segments. Preferably, the capacitive elements (CV, CA) are arranged in a high-pass configuration such that the two highest resonant modes, an odd mode (90) and an even mode (92), are tuned to have peak responsivity to a common imaging frequency. The odd mode (90) is responsive to magnetic fields which are normal to the coil (48), while the even mode is responsive to magnetic fields which are parallel to the coil (48) and perpendicular to the main magnetic field.
