  • Patent number: 6831657
Abstract: Musical sound signal is input to an electronic volume control unit, which in turn adjusts the gain of the input musical signal and outputs the resultant gain-adjusted signal to an amplifier. CPU supplies the electronic volume control unit with a sound volume setting level corresponding to an output of a rotary encoder. At the same time, the CPU generates, with reference to stored data of a ROM table, a hue control signal for changing a displaying hue of a three-color light-emitting diode in accordance with the sound volume setting level supplied by the CPU. The CPU takes in a current sound volume setting level when an upper-limit setting switch is activated, and it retains the taken-in level as an upper limit value of various sound volume setting levels that are to be used to change the displaying hue of the light-emitting diode between purple and red hues. As the sound volume setting level is changed from zero to the upper limit value, the displaying hue changes in a stepwise manner.

  • Publication number: 20040245449
Abstract: A hazardous material detection system that can suppress occurrence of contamination due to ionization. When a sensor detects that a test sample has entered an inspection region of an X-ray inspection device as a belt conveyor moves, a corona discharge power supply in a hazardous material detection device is turned on for a constant time, to introduce a gaseous sample containing a substance stuck to the test sample into the hazardous material detection device via a sucking section and gaseous sample introduction piping, in order to ionize the gaseous sample and analyze it at an analyzer, based on a result of which analysis, a data processor decides whether the gaseous sample contains a hazardous material, to display a decision result on a screen. When the test sample is detected by an exit side sensor, the corona discharge power supply is turned off.

  • Publication number: 20040240234
Abstract: First and second semiconductor switches which are activated alternately are provided between ends of a primary winding and a common potential point, wherein a DC power supply voltage is supplied to a center tap. An electric current flowing into a load is fed back to thereby subject the semiconductor switches to PWM control. Series circuits consisting of capacitors and semiconductor switches are connected between the center tap of the primary winding and the ends of the same. The semiconductor switches are activated in synchronism with the first and second semiconductor switches, thereby preventing occurrence of an anomalous high voltage, which would otherwise be caused at the time of switching operation.

  • Patent number: 6806939
Abstract: A display device having an insulating substrate on which transparent electrodes having display electrode portions and wiring electrodes portions are formed, and another substrate opposed to the insulating substrate. At a portion of the insulating substrate at which the wiring electrode patterns extend across a contour line of the opposing substrate, the wiring electrode patterns are set perpendicular to the end surface of the opposing substrate. Dummy patterns may be provided outside the opposite-end terminal patterns in the group of wiring electrode patterns. In the thus-arranged display device, when the wiring electrodes are plated after assembly of a display element, a short circuit cannot occur on the insulating substrate portion at which the wiring electrode patterns extend across the contour line of the opposing substrate. Pads for contact with a short check probe are arranged in a straight line on the insulating substrate. A low-priced straight probe can therefore be used for a short circuit check.

  • Patent number: 6679982
Abstract: An oxygen sensor is disposed downstream from a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine and which can suppress an influence of unburnt hydrocarbon on an output voltage. After forming a platinum thin film on the outer periphery of a zirconia ceramic body, only a detection electrode of the ceramic body is dipped in a silver nitrate aqueous solution of 0.1 mol/l, and the silver nitrate is pyrolyzed through a heat treatment. Subsequently, a platinum reference electrode is formed on the inner periphery of the ceramic body. To protect the silver-doped detection electrode, a protective layer is formed on the surface of the detection electrode. By the exposure to combustion gas and through aging, a detection element is formed, and set into a metal case together with a cylindrical heater, to complete an oxygen sensor to be disposed downstream from a CNG engine catalyst.
