  • Patent number: 6383112
Abstract: In the toroidal-type continuously variable transmission, the torque transmission shaft 15 includes a flange portion 29a formed in one end thereof, while a securing portion 43 is formed in the end-face side half section of the flange portion 29a so as to be able to secure a tool thereto when tightly fastening a loading nut 19 to a external thread portion 40 formed in the torque transmission shaft 15. And, the outer peripheral surface of the securing portion 43 is formed as a polygonally cylindrical shape having four or more flat surfaces. Also, after the torque transmission shaft 15 is heat-carburized and the surface of a cylindrical portion 44 formed in the torque transmission shaft 15 is removed, the external thread portion 40 is worked, which makes it possible not only to secure the hardness of the adjoining portions of the external thread portion 40 but also to control the hardness of the external thread portion 40 itself.

Abstract: A power roller bearing of a toroidal-type continuously variable transmission unit that is used for a transmission of an automobile or the like comprises a power roller, an outer race, balls, a retainer, etc. Annular raceway grooves are formed individually on the respective opposite end faces of the outer race and the power roller. Treated-surface layers for enhancing the endurance of the power roller bearing are formed individually on the respective surfaces of the raceway grooves. The treated-surface layers include super-finished surfaces with the surface roughness of 0.05 Ra or less, formed individually on the raceway grooves, and low-friction layers formed individually on the super-finished surfaces. Alternatively, the treated-surface layers include residual compression stress layers formed on the respective surface layer portions of the raceway grooves by shot-peening.

  • Publication number: 20020020824
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to reduce a number of deflection awaiting and a connection error between shots by scanning and exposing a formed beam having a large area. To achieve the object, a continuous scanning deflector and a scan limiter are added to a variable forming type electron beam column and the drawing is performed such that a state in which the electron beam is limited by the scan limiter is continuous to a state in which the electron beam is irradiated on a face of a sample. According to this structure, the number of deflection awaiting and the connection error between shots are reduced and further, a high-speed and highly accurate drawing of a 45° slanted figure is made possible.

  • Patent number: 6347975
Abstract: An apparatus main body has a surface plate, a vertical shaft and an arm coupled to the vertical shaft such that it can move in the vertical direction. A spline shaft is attached to the arm such that it can move in the vertical direction. A keeper for holding a workpiece is attached to the lower end of the spline shaft. To the arm, attached are: reference position sensor for detecting the position of the top surface of a reference base as a reference position; and a workpiece thickness sensor for detecting the position of the top surface of the keeper as a position associated with the thickness of the workpiece. During a process on the workpiece, the absolute thickness of the workpiece is recognized based on information detected by the sensors, and the processing operation is controlled such that the thickness will become a desired value.

  • Patent number: 6337486
Abstract: An electron beam drawing process of high throughput, coping with the changes in static distortion and dynamic distortion of a lower layer exposure apparatus or an optical reduction exposure apparatus. At least two marks formed in each chip formed on a wafer are detected for a predetermined number of chips, and the relation between the shape distortion of each chip in the wafer plane and the wafer coordinates is determined from the positions of the detected marks and the designed positions of the marks by a statistical processing. Patterns are drawn in all chips while correcting the patterns to be drawn on the individual chips, by using the relation between the determined chip shape distortion and the wafer coordinates. As a result, the superposition exposure with the lower layer can be achieved with a high throughput and with a high accuracy without any manual adjustment.

  • Patent number: 6332264
Abstract: An object of the invention is to manufacture sliders having excellent properties with accuracy and to improve the production efficiency and facilitate handling of intermediate products during slider manufacturing steps. In a method of the invention to manufacture a bar in which a row of slider sections are aligned, a wafer block is made from a wafer in which rows of slider sections are aligned. The wafer block is bonded to a dummy block on a support plate. Next, a processing step and a cutting step are repeated. The processing step is to perform specific processing on the medium facing surfaces of a row of slider sections in the medium facing surface of the wafer block bonded to the support plate. The cutting step is to cut the wafer block together with the support plate such that the row of slider sections whose medium facing surfaces have received the specific processing are separated from the wafer block to be the bar.
