    Abstract: A disc player device includes a tray transfer mechanism for transferring a tray, supporting a disc thereon, from a magazine, a clamper for holding the disc, and a clamper drive mechanism for transferring the clamper to a turntable. The disc is held by the turntable with the clamper transfer mechanism held out of contact with the clamper, and in this condition a playback of the disc is carried out. After the playback of the disc is finished, the disc is again clamped, and is returned to a predetermined position by the clamper transfer mechanism. The tray transfer mechanism, the clamper, the clamper drive mechanism are driven by a common motor.

Each of the methods comprises only one step in which the raw material, 3,7-dimethyl-6-hydroxy-7-octene-1-ol is dehydrated or further cyclized by heating while stirring at 80.degree. to 160.degree. C. in the presence of a zero-valent or divalent phosphine-palladium complex, or a combination of zero-valent or divalent palladium and a phosphorous compound having coordinating capabilities such as the combination of palladium acetate and triphenylphosphine. The methods give high yields and have cost saving characteristics.

    Abstract: A surface-roughened film and methods for fabricating same. The film has good transparency/exceptional clarity and high lubricity so that it is useful for a photoengraving material, label, packaging film, magnetic recording film, or clear film. The film has a composition including thermoplastic polyester resin (a) and a thermoplastic resin (b), such as an amorphous nylon, having glass transition temperature preferably 10.degree. C. higher than that of the thermoplastic polyester resin (a) and a critical surface tension more than 0.1 dyne/cm different from that of the thermoplastic polyester resin (a). Resin (b) further has a melt viscosity, at a temperature of 280.degree. C. and shear rate of 10.sup.2 sec.sup.-1, in the range of 500 to 50,000 poise. One or more particulate inert inorganic compound may be added and the film may be laminated to layers of other polymers with the film of the foregoing composition on at least one surface thereof.
