  • Publication number: 20060177340
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for sintering metallic web heat pipe. The pipe body of a heat pipe is held by a fastening unit. A metallic web is then inserted into the pipe body. A core rod is also inserted to the metallic web, such that the metallic web closely contacts the pipe body. The heat pipe is then sintered in an oven. Since the melting point of the metallic web is lower than that of the pipe body and the core rod, the metallic web is combined with the pipe body during the sintering process. The fastening unit then moves the heat pipe to a blocking unit. After the core rod penetrates a hole formed on the blocking unit, a holding unit is used to clamp the core rod, thereby pulling the core rod off from the heat pipe. In this manner, a heat pipe having a metallic web combined thereto is manufactured.

  • Publication number: 20060174478
Abstract: An apparatus for disposing a multi-layered capillary structure into a heat pipe. The apparatus drags a multi-layered interwoven web into a heat pipe body, so as to form a capillary structure of multi-layered interwoven web in the heat pipe body. The apparatus includes a base, a towing mechanism, an affixation mechanism, a cutting mechanism and a set of web support. The base defines a working path, which is a fictitious path that the multi-layered interwoven web travels for penetrating through the heat pipe body. A plurality of delivery wheels is disposed at the starting point of the working path. The web support includes a plurality of supporting blocks, each corresponding to a delivery wheel.

  • Publication number: 20060165150
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for examining heat pipe temperature using an infrared thermography. The heat pipe is covered with a thin film. The heat transfer temperature of the heat pipe is examined and measured using an infrared thermography or an infrared imager. Since the presence of the thin film can provide a more stable and larger radiation emissivity of the heat pipe surface, a more accurate heat transfer temperature of the heat pipe can thus be obtained from the infrared thermography.

  • Patent number: 7073257
Abstract: A shrinkage-free sealing structure is formed at an open end of a heat pipe by pressing one side of the open end towards the other side of the open end until the side walls of the open ends contact each other. Furthermore, the recess is pressed to have a curve which is the same as the curve of the outer circular wall of the heat pipe so that a double-layered recess is formed with a cross-sectional length larger than a semicircumference of the outer circular wall of the heat pipe.

  • Patent number: 7040382
Abstract: A heat pipe includes a pipe member, a bottom lid and a wick structure. The pipe member includes a plurality of longitudinal grooves radially arranged on an inner sidewall thereof. The bottom lid covers a bottom end of the pipe member. The wick structure includes the grooves and sintered powders attached to an inner surface of the bottom lid. • Patent number: 7018585
Abstract: An annealing apparatus includes a gas tight hollow main body, a conveying apparatus and a gas grid. A heating apparatus and a cooling apparatus are installed at an inlet and an outlet of the main body, respectively. The gas grid is installed between the inlet and the outlet to blow the protecting gas into the main body, so as to form a gas screen. The conveying apparatus extends to the inlet and the outlet to convey process material such as heat pipe. Thereby, an open, non-pressure differential environment is established for performing annealing on the process material.

  • Patent number: 7013957
Abstract: An end surface structure having a pipe member, a first lid and a second lid is disclosed. The pipe member has two opposing open ends. The first and second lids each has an interlocking member to frictionally fit the first and second lids with the pipe member at the open ends. Each of the first and second lids further has a flange extending outwardly and radially from the interlocking member. The thickness of the flanges is larger than the interior periphery of the open ends but no larger than the exterior periphery of the heat pipe. When the first and second lids are fitted with the heat pipe at the open ends, a welding process is performed to permanently connect the heat pipe with the first and second lids.

  • Patent number: 6997243
Abstract: A composite wick structure of a heat pipe includes wick structure fabricated from a woven mesh and sintered powder. The woven mesh is attached to an internal sidewall of a tubular member, while the sintered powder is coated on at least one side of the internal sidewall. By the better capillary force provided by the sintered powder, the liquid-phase working fluid can reflow to the bottom of the heat pipe quickly to enhance the heat transmission efficiency. Further, the problems of poor capillary effect of the woven mesh and the problems caused by usage of an axial rod during the process of applying sintered powder can be resolved.

  • Patent number: 6986383
Abstract: An end surface structure of a heat pipe having a large gauge used to be contacted with a heat source for dissipation is provided. The heat pipe includes a pipe member, a lid, a base and a wick structure. The hollow tubular pipe member includes two opposing open ends. The lid is closely covered on one open end. The base includes an interlocking member fitly engaged to the other open end of the pipe member and a flange extending radially and outwardly from the interlocking member. Moreover, the thickness of the flange is not larger than the thickness of pipe member at the open end receiving the interlocking member. When the base is fitted with the pipe member at the open end, a welding process is performed to permanently connect them together. In the welding process, the flange is enforced to be liquefied first and is liquefied more than the pipe member at the open end. As such, it can ensure that the pipe member is prevented from being damaged during the welding process.
