    Abstract: The present invention provides a method for improving gate coupling ratio of a flash memory device and a protruding floating gate is formed. First, a substrate having a plurality of isolation structures is formed. Then, a first conductive layer is formed overlaying the substrate. A chemical-mechanical polishing process is performed to planarize the first conductive layer. After that, a portion of the isolation structures is removed, and a second conductive layer is formed overlaying the first conductive layer and the isolation structures. Finally, a lithography process with a photomask can be used to define a mask that covers the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer, and then an insulating layer is deposited overlaying the substrate, so that a third conductive layer is formed overlaying the insulating layer.

    Abstract: In a method and system for recovering a basic input-output system (BIOS) of a computing device, the computing device includes a serial peripheral interface (SPI) read-only memory (ROM) and a super I/O (SIO) controller. The SPI ROM stores a BIOS booting block and a main BIOS. The SIO controller connects to an universal serial bus (USB) storage that stores a BIOS booting block file. The system retrieves a BIOS booting block file from the USB storage and writes data of the BIOS booting block file into a cache of the SIO controller when the BIOS booting block of the SPI ROM is damaged, and recovers the BIOS booting block of the SPI ROM using the data of the BIOS booting block file. The system retrieves data of a backup BIOS from the storage device to recover the main BIOS of the SPI ROM when the main BIOS is damaged.

The video image is displayed in full screen by all backlighting blocks if the video image is an ultra high definition (UHD) image, and turns on a smaller number of the backlighting blocks to display the video image if the video image has other than UHD display definition. An integrity of the main BIOS stored in the SPI ROM is checked when the computing device is powered on. The first BIOS booting block boots the computing device when the main BIOS is partially damaged, and the second booting block powers on the computing device when the main BIOS is fully damaged. A backup BIOS is obtained from the storage device, and is written into the SPI ROM to update data of the main BIOS.

    Abstract: In a method for recovering a BIOS of a computer system, the computer system includes a serial peripheral interface (SPI) ROM and a storage device. The SPI ROM stores a BIOS booting block and a main BIOS, and the storage device stores a backup BIOS. The BIOS booting block of the SPI ROM is locked in a normal operating state of the computer system, and the main BIOS is checked to determine whether the main BIOS is damaged when the computer system is powered on. The BIOS booting block of the SPI ROM is unlocked when the main BIOS is damaged, and the BIOS booting block is enable to recover the main BIOS according to a backup BIOS stored in the storage device.
