Abstract: An autoinjector comprising an outer housing in which can be mounted a syringe for holding a volume of medicament, the syringe for holding medicament having a needle at one end thereof, a syringe holder for supporting the syringe in an axial position relative to the outer housing, and an intermediate housing at least part of which is located within said outer housing, characterised in that said intermediate housing is provided with a blocking means capable of abutting the syringe or the syringe holder so as to be capable of preventing forward axial movement of the syringe when a forward axial force is applied to said needle before actuation of the autoinjector to deliver an injection, but incapable of preventing forward axial movement of the syringe during actuation of the autoinjector to deliver an injection.

Abstract: A TV-set is equipped with HDMI and USB connections that allow it to display and run audio-video content from a variety of conventional consumer devices. The TV-set is further equipped to provide a secure HDMI-USB interface that will allow the transfer of licensed high definition content and Internet subscriber services. Such secure HDMI-USB interface also enables a selection of proprietary application modules to be attached. Downloadable user interface templates, much like XML style sheets, are rendered to a user interface displayed on the screen. These are associated with corresponding thumbnails and URI's that allow a user to surf through lists and catalogs of materials, and then to play them in the appropriate formats and provide the machine with a customized controller. A remote commander is simplified, yet expanded to control all the attached devices through interactions with the user interface.

Abstract: In a wireless sensor network, a local wireless network serves a plurality of sensor nodes. The local wireless network is reconfigurable for accepting a mobile computing device. The mobile computing device comprises a wireless network interface, such as a dongle, and is configured for selecting a set of sensor nodes for communications. The sensor network, a gateway, or a remote computing device may select the set of sensor nodes for communicating with the mobile computing device. A dongle may be provided for coupling the mobile computing device to the local wireless network. The dongle comprises a configuration unit for interfacing the mobile computing device with the local wireless network, an identification unit for storing user data used for user authentication, and a protection module for providing secure network access.

The method comprises (a) receiving a request of a media buyer to place an advertisement in a requested advertising slot associated with a media owner; (b) automatically determining whether the received request satisfies one or more booking rules to either accept or reject the request, wherein the booking rules are specified by the media owner and associated with the requested advertising slot; and (c) if the request is accepted, sending a request confirmation to the media buyer, but otherwise, determining an alternative advertising slot based on the rejected request and sending an offer of the alternative advertising slot to the media buyer. In other aspects, there are provided computer programs, a media owner system, a media buyer system, a computerized trading platform and a computer system for advertisement placement.

The system comprises: a tunable laser source for generating a laser beam; a frequency locking system for either locking the frequency of the laser beam to a resonance of the resonator cavity or locking the length of the cavity to the frequency of the laser beam; a first modulation element for modulating the laser beam at a first modulation frequency to generate a modulated laser beam; an input coupler adapted for directing the modulated laser beam into the resonator cavity; a first directing element for directing a first portion of light reflected from the input coupler to a first photodetector to generate a first detected signal; and a first demodulator capable of demodulating the first modulation signal from the first detected signal to generate a first error signal which is a function of the loss in the resonator cavity.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed that accepts different types of signals from multiple sources and routes the signals to the appropriate devices for conversion or other processing so that each signal is in a common or desired format, such as the MPEG standard. The individual signal streams are packetized so that each signal stream carries identifying information associated with it originating signal source and then multiplexed onto a single digital transport stream for storage. Such a system allows overlapping signals of different types from multiple sources to be processed and stored in a single storage device. Each of the signals can then be subsequently retrieved for playback or display.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for the controlled application of ultrasonic energy for conditioning of mixtures of gas and liquids by evolving and/or agglomerating gas bubbles existing with or in a liquid or for coalescing droplets of liquid dispersed in another liquid. The invention in preferred embodiments thereof comprises a coalescing apparatus for increasing the droplet size of a mixture formed as a liquid dispersed in another liquid, and a de-gassing apparatus arranged to evolve and/or agglomerate gaseous bubbles in a gas/liquid mixture. In the apparatuses, ultrasonic transducers are used to impart vibrational energy to the mixtures.

Abstract: There is provided a knock down signpost comprising a post member (6) and a lower body member (10) held together by a spring (3) having a preload when the post is vertical, acting two flat surfaces (8) creating an initial resistance to motion off the horizontal. Two steel cables (114) transmit the force of the spring and are spaced apart which allows the cables to act as a non rotation mechanism. Two round protrusions (16) in the post member (6) locate into two matching clearance holes (14) in the lower body for post alignment. A shock tube (4) is fitted over the cable and internal to the spring to prevent over compression and provides a mechanical stop. As the top assembly is rotated chamfered edges (15) of the post member (6) engage and interlock into an annular groove (13) to act as a pseudo-hinge.

Abstract: Synchronized video playback among multiple users across a network provides a fully social experience where people in different locations may be enabled to watch the same video in a “virtual living room.” The users may be represented graphically, as avatars, in front of the video, and may be enabled to use animations, text chat, and voice chat to interact with each other. Thus, a group of people may be enabled to share the experience of watching a video together as if they were in the same room, without being physically present together.

Abstract: Improving scalability and throughput in publish/subscribe messaging systems by allowing the spoke systems to vary the member of the hub collective that is attaches to. The scalability is improved because the spoke systems do not have to have a long lasting attachment to a specific hub system. Instead, the spoke systems can be redistributed more evenly when new spoke systems are added or removed. The throughput is increased by distributing workload and fan-out responsibilities within hub collectives. Availability is improved because single points of failure are removed. Ease of administration is also improved over a hierarchy by allowing child nodes to automatically change parent nodes if a parent node is modified or removed.

Abstract: A communications system incorporates a transmitter a receiver. The transmitter includes an infrared light emitting diode (LED). The LED output is positive or negative luminescence, i.e. above or below an equilibrium background intensity level respectively, according to the polarity of its bias signal. The receiver contains a lens to focus light from the LED onto a diode detector, from which signals pass to an amplifier, decoder and printer. Output signals from the LED have an average intensity equal to the equilibrium background intensity level and a frequency greater than 100 Hz or byte rate greater than 100 bytes/sec. They are not discernible by conventional thermal infrared imagers with frame rates of 50 Hz or less because integration in such an imager renders them indistinguishable from background.

The method includes creating a message including a unique identifier, and sending the message to each of a group of replicated queues with the message identifiable by the unique identifier information prior to the message being consumed.
