  • Patent number: 9537974
Abstract: Systems, methods and media are provided for collaborative caching of files in a cloud storage directory. One method includes providing, at a cloud storage server having a cloud storage directory, an interface configured for forming one or more groups. Each group has a plurality of members. The method also includes monitoring the cloud storage directory including a plurality of files that is shared amongst members of a working group and, upon detecting a file activity related to one of the plurality of files, updating a profile for the file. The method further includes determining using the updated profile whether to distribute the file to the group members by applying a policy to the updated profile. The method also includes distributing the file to the group members by downloading the file to cloud storage devices associated with the group members when it is determined to distribute the file.

  • Patent number: 9500546
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing measurements of an acoustic wave, the acoustic wave being within a member (12) made of a composite material and caused by an impact to the member (12), the method comprising: analyzing the measurements to detect an initial acoustic wave feature; analyzing the measurements to detect the presence of further acoustic wave features, the further features occurring after the initial feature; if there are no further acoustic wave features, determining that the impact to the member (12) has not changed the structure of the member (12); if there are further features, determining a value of a function of the further acoustic wave features; if the determined value satisfies certain criteria, determining that the impact has changed the structure of the member (12); and if the determined value does not satisfy the criteria, determining that the impact has not changed the structure of the member (12).

  • Publication number: 20160313210
Abstract: There is provided apparatus and a method for assessing the integrity of a bonded joint and a bonded joint assembly. The assembly has a bonded joint monitored for bond integrity and comprises first (1) and second (2) components each defining a bonding surface (3,4); the joint (5) is formed between the bonding surfaces (3,4) and the first component (1) defines a passage (15) therethrough from the bonding surface to an exterior of the component. The joint (5) includes an optical fibre (11) extending along the joint (5) between the bonding surfaces, through the passage (15) and emerging from the passage (15) to the exterior of the component. The method of constructing the assembly includes the steps of passing the optical fibre (11) through the passage (15) and adhering the optical fibre (11) to the bonding surface (3) of the first component (1), thus bringing the two bonding surfaces (3,4) together and forming the bond (5).

  • Publication number: 20160313724
Abstract: A safety automation builder that assists in development of compliant safety functions for industrial safety systems is provided. The safety automation builder imports a system drawing or image of a user's manufacturing line, machine, or production area, and guides the user through a workflow that facilitates configuration of safety functions for each hazardous access point. The safety automation builder leverages a library of safety devices and encoded knowledge of industrial safety standards to guide the user toward selection of suitable safety devices for mitigating risks associated with the access points. Once configured, the safety automation builder can export the safety function data to an external verification system for confirmation that the configured safety functions comply with the prescribed industrial safety standards.

  • Publication number: 20160277708
Abstract: A telecommunications device sends and receives messages comprising data about telecommunications resources and resource state of proximate devices. The telecommunications device has a processor configured to determine a proximate resource pool using at least the telecommunication resources of the other devices, and the state of the telecommunications resources of the other devices, the proximate resource pool comprising a list of content streams being generated by, or potentially being generated by, specified ones of the other devices. The processor is configured to receive instructions from one of the other devices, the instructions being to add, divert or stop a specified content stream of the proximate resource pool within a telecommunications activity ongoing at the device. In various examples, the processor is configured to execute the instructions responsive to the instructions being from a trusted device, or responsive to user authorization.
