Publication number: 20240142231Abstract: Various products that are used to align objects and features in an area are shown. In one example, a laser target provides optical communication between a target area of the laser target and a non-target area that is offset from the target area. Some light emitted towards the target area will be redirected to emit from the non-target area, and some light emitted towards the non-target area will be redirected to emit from the target area. In another example, a laser target includes reflective portions and non-reflective portions that facilitate aiming a laser target towards a center of the laser target.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 8, 2024Publication date: May 2, 2024Inventors: Samuel J. Publication number: 20240131676Abstract: A power tool that includes a housing, a motor, an end effector, an electrostatic clutch assembly, and a control circuit is provided. In a first mode of operation, the control circuit causes a first voltage to be applied to a first electrode and a different second voltage to be applied to a second electrode, generating a first attractive force between the first and second electrodes, which causes an output member to rotate together with an input member when a torque on the output member is less than or equal to a first threshold value and which causes the output member to rotationally slip relative to the input member when the torque on the output member exceeds the first threshold value, interrupting torque transmission from the input member to the output member.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2023Publication date: April 25, 2024Inventors: Matthew J. Velderman, Geoffrey S. Howard, Matthew Lazzaro

Patent number: 11925342Abstract: A minimally invasive dilation device includes a plurality of rigid arms radially arrayed about a center and a dilating member positioned between the arms. A stylus may occupy the center. An outer flexible sleeve may be circumferentially secured to the arms, lying within or without the plurality of arms. An inner mesh may surround the stylus and dilating member. The device may be introduced into tissue toward a targeted area, while in a closed configuration. The dilating member may be a balloon, wherein upon inflation of the balloon, the arms are pushed radially outward, expanding the device and dilating the surrounding tissue. The dilating member may be a tube, wherein upon insertion of the tube, the arms are pushed radially outward. A cannula may be inserted inside the plurality of arms to keep the arms in an open configuration, and the dilating member may be withdrawn, providing an open passageway through the device to the targeted area. The device may be used with a neural monitoring system.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2020Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: HOWMEDICA OSTEONICS CORP.Inventors: Corbett W. Publication number: 20240068924Abstract: A method for enhancing gating performance of a cell sorter to prepare an enriched specimen for optical tomography cell analysis includes introducing a specimen into a FACS to generate 2D event data; generating a first scatterplot of the 2D data; identifying target objects; constructing a boundary within the first scatterplot to produce a first gate; counting target objects within the first gate; comparing the number of target objects within the first gate to a first predetermined value and adjusting the first gate as necessary. A boundary around a set of target objects is constructed in a second scatterplot to produce a subset second gate and target objects within the second gate are counted and the count compared to a second predetermined value. When a boundary around target objects meets specifications the first and second gates are stored in memory and used to enrich patient specimens.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2022Publication date: February 29, 2024Inventors: Daniel J. Patent number: 11514662Abstract: In examples, a relative skin reflectance of a captured image of a subject is determined. The determination selects from the captured image pixels of the subject's face and pixels in the background and normalizes luminance values of the skin pixels using the background pixels. The relative skin reflectance value is determined for the captured image, based on the normalized luminance values of the skin pixels. Optionally the relative skin reflectance value is qualified, based on thresholds of skin reflectance values, as suitable for biometric use. Optionally, a non-qualifying captured image is flagged and, optionally, another image is acquired, or the non-conforming image is processed further to transform the image into a suitable image for biometric analysis.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2021Date of Patent: November 29, 2022Assignee: The Government of the United States of America, as represented by the Secretary of Homeland SecurityInventors: Yevgeniy B.
