  • Patent number: 8998523
Abstract: A cream dispensing applicator assembly allows an individual to easily, evenly, and cleanly apply cream to hard-to-reach areas of the body. The assembly includes an elongated member having a head coupled to a handle. The elongated member has an interior space configured for holding a liquid. A pad is coupled to the head. A channel extends through the head. A plurality of outlet ports is coupled to the pad and to the channel. A plunger, a shaft, a knob, and a switch are coupled to the handle. The shaft is coupled to and extends through the plunger. The knob is operationally coupled to the plunger wherein manipulation of the knob urges the plunger into the shaft. A valve is coupled to the handle and to the channel. The switch is operationally coupled to the valve wherein manipulation of the switch selectively opens and closes the valve.

  • Patent number: 8955820
Abstract: A valve for a fuel cell system includes a valve housing having a valve seat formed therein. The valve seat includes an orifice formed therein to permit a fluid to flow through the valve housing. A movable member is disposed in the valve housing and is movable between an open position and a closed position. The movable member includes a first end having an elongate portion and a generally conical shaped base. At least a portion of the base is disposed in the orifice of the valve seat when the movable member is in the closed position to militate against a formation of ice across the orifice of the valve seat.

  • Publication number: 20140269132
Abstract: A negative charge pump is responsive to a pump enable signal. A voltage controlled current source provides a current. A resistor is coupled between a node from the voltage controlled current source and a negative charge output from the negative charge pump. A capacitor is placed in parallel with the resistor. A comparator generates the pump enable signal to control the negative charge pump. The comparator is coupled to the resistor and the capacitor and measures an IR drop thereacross and compares this measurement against a reference threshold. A level of the pump enable signal can be variable by tuning an amount of resistance of the resistor or capacitor or adjusting the reference threshold. A memory can be driven by a method of the negative charge pump.

  • Publication number: 20140255169
Abstract: A turbine including a plurality of stages, each stage including a rotatable disk and blades carried thereby. An annular gap defined between a pair of adjacent rotatable disks. A sealing band is located in opposing sealing band receiving slots formed in the adjacent disks to seal the annular gap, the sealing band including band engagement structure. A disk engagement structure is defined in the pair of adjacent rotatable disks. The disk engagement structure extends axially into the pair of adjacent rotatable disks and circumferentially aligns with the band engagement structure. A clip member is positioned in engagement with the sealing band through the band engagement structure and in engagement with the pair of adjacent rotatable disks through the disk engagement structure. The clip member restricts movement of the sealing band in only a circumferential direction of the slots.

  • Patent number: 8219626
Abstract: A system and method integrate synchronous electronic (e.g., chat) communications with asynchronous electronic communications in the form of body-less electronic mail messages (emails). Body-less emails have a subject line but lack a message body capable of receiving message content. When converting a synchronous electronic communication into a body-less email, a processor places each text message of the synchronous electronic communication into the subject line of the body-less email. When converting a received body-less email into a synchronous electronic communication, the processor places each text message in the subject line of the body-less email into a chat format. A user can readily transition between asynchronous and synchronous communications.

  • Patent number: 8140691
Abstract: Described is a method for controlling a user's access and viewing rights to a weblog used to track the status of a workflow based on one or more roles or responsibilities of the user in the workflow. Advantageously, the workflow is not required to change when workflow members leave their assigned roles or are unable to perform their workflow tasks. Instead, new members are assigned to the roles and access and viewing rights are changed accordingly. Optionally, a person responsible for a workflow instance can grant access and viewing rights for the particular workflow to an individual who is not a member of the workflow.

  • Patent number: 8104548
Abstract: A rotary steerable apparatus is provided having an actuator for pushing the bit or pointing the bit that includes a shape memory alloy. An elongated form of the alloy, such as a wire or rod, is employed in a mechanism that applies force in a direction transverse to the wellbore in response to a change in length of the alloy. Temperature of the alloy is controlled to change shape and produce the desired force on pads for operating the apparatus. The apparatus may be used with downhole power generation and control electronics to steer a bit, either in response to signals from the surface or from downhole instruments.
