  • Patent number: 11736809
Abstract: A method for adjusting illumination of a user operating an information handling system may include capturing an image of the user's face using a camera at the information handling system. The method may further include determining lighting characteristics of the user's face based on the captured image. A border to be displayed surrounding a video image can be generated based on the determined lighting characteristics. The video image and the border can be displayed at a display device.

  • Publication number: 20230185354
Abstract: A portable information handling system modular hybrid architecture separates components between rotationally coupled housing portions to minimize cabling, connectors and materials, and to provide improved durability that supports recycling and reuse of the components. A single cable between the housing portions provides power and data communications for the components. A battery in a first housing portion interfaces with a secondary board having a charger and embedded controller that cooperate to provide power at a native battery voltage to a main board of a second housing portion through the cable. A switched-capacitor voltage regulator coupled to the main board reduces the power to a system voltage with a selectable divider ratio that is set based upon the measured battery voltage applied at the main board.

  • Publication number: 20230185690
Abstract: End users subscribe to use information handling systems having a selected of available performance characteristics defined by a component configuration selected to build the information handling systems in a portable housing having housing portions rotationally coupled by one or more hinges. A manufacturer meets subscriptions with information handling systems built from an inventory of new hinges, deployed hinges of information handling systems in use by subscribers, and separated hinges taken from returned information handling systems and re-used. End user subscriptions are met in part by building replacement information handling systems with separated hinges having a useful life remaining that aligns with end user hinge usage patterns tracked over time, benchmarked performance metrics and end user subscription performance characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20230188815
Abstract: A camera integrates a magnet at one end of a housing to magnetically attract and attach the camera to a front side of a peripheral display, such as to support a video conference through an information handling system interfaced with the display. Camera position at a display dock is biased to an upright orientation by opposing polarity magnets included in the camera and the dock. The opposing polarity magnets further align a wireless charger of the dock with a wireless charger receiver of the camera to provide wireless charging of the camera from the dock.

  • Publication number: 20230188839
Abstract: A camera integrates a magnet at one end of a housing to magnetically attract and attach the camera to a front side of a peripheral display, such as to support a video conference through an information handling system interfaced with the display. Camera position movement at a display panel front face is detected, such as with a touchscreen of the display panel, and accelerometer or an infrared curtain presented from the camera dock along the display panel front face. Audio and visual information communicated from the camera is altered when movement is detected at the camera, such as muting a microphone of the camera and cutting off capture of visual images by the camera module.

  • Publication number: 20230185343
Abstract: A portable information handling system modular hybrid architecture separates components between rotationally coupled housing portions to minimize cabling, connectors and materials, and to provide improved durability that supports recycling and reuse of the components. For example, a secondary board coupled in a first housing portion and having an audio processor exposes a connector that communicates audio signals to a speaker through a housing cover coupled over the first housing portion. A first speaker interface of the housing cover aligned with the secondary board connector communicates the audio signals through wires of the housing cover to a second speaker interface aligned with a speaker having a speaker contact to accept the audio signals. The speaker has a speaker cartridge with a piezoelectric speaker element that releasably couples to a speaker chamber to aid in reuse and recycling of the speaker.

  • Publication number: 20230188819
Abstract: A camera integrates a magnet at one end of a housing to magnetically attract and attach the camera to a front side of a peripheral display, such as to support a video conference through an information handling system interfaced with the display. A camera dock couples to a top side of the display and includes a back privacy support having an area that blocks the camera module from accepting external light when the camera is placed in the dock with the camera module aligned towards the back privacy support. An end user places the camera with a field of view directed in front of the display to capture visual images and flips the camera module to face the back privacy support to secure the camera against capture of visual images.

  • Publication number: 20230186253
Abstract: A portable information handling system modular hybrid architecture separates components between rotationally coupled housing portions to minimize cabling, connectors and materials, and to provide improved durability that supports recycling and reuse of the components. For example, a plurality of display configurations couple to housing portions of different dimensions with opposing couplers and a common keystone element that, when installed, prevents separation of the opposing couplers. Removal of the keystone element provides ready access to the housing portion interior to recycle processing components, such as a main board having a processor and memory.

For example, a secondary board coupled in a first housing portion exposes a keyboard connector that communicates with a keyboard connector interface when a cover having the keyboard couples over the first housing portion. A battery connector exposed at a side of the secondary board has pins that directly interface with a battery connector interface of a battery. The secondary board supports modular assembly and disassembly of the keyboard and battery for improved recycling of components to reuse.

  • Publication number: 20230188818
Abstract: A camera integrates a magnet at one end of a housing to magnetically attract and attach the camera to a front side of a peripheral display, such as to support a video conference through an information handling system interfaced with the display. Camera position at a display panel front face is maintained by magnetic attraction to a ferromagnetic material backplate having crossbeams to strengthen the backplate construction and sized so that a substantially equal magnetic attraction is provided for the camera magnet across plural adjacent crossbeams.

  • Publication number: 20230188673
Abstract: A camera integrates a magnet at one end of a housing to magnetically attract and attach the camera to a front side of a peripheral display, such as to support a video conference through an information handling system interfaced with the display. A touch sensor disposed at the camera housing, such as at the front face surface encircling the camera module, detects a single finger touch to command a change between communication of video stream images and a static stored image from the camera. Communication of a static image by the camera maintains a wireless local area network interface for the camera so that a rapid change back to video stream images may be accomplished without restarting the wireless communication interface.

  • Publication number: 20230188672
Abstract: A camera integrates a magnet at one end of a housing to magnetically attract and attach the camera to a front side of a peripheral display, such as to support a video conference through an information handling system interfaced with the display. The camera has a housing of a light guide material, such as an extruded acrylic, that guides light from the display panel to the front of the camera. A camera dock having a charging light indicator illuminates from the rear of the camera through the light guide material to the front of the camera to present a charging state of the camera in the dock.

  • Publication number: 20230188854
Abstract: A camera integrates a magnet at one end of a cylindrical housing to magnetically attract and attach the camera to a front side of a peripheral display, such as to support a video conference through an information handling system interfaced with the display. Camera orientation at a display panel front face is detected, such as with an accelerometer or with analysis of a visual image captured by the camera module, so that the camera orientation is presented with an orientation indicator at the camera front face, such as an LED that illuminates with a predetermined color to indicate an upright vertical orientation. In one alternative embodiment, a gimble interfaced with the camera module and cylindrical housing actuates to adjust the camera module to the upright vertical orientation.

  • Publication number: 20230185286
Abstract: A portable information handling system modular hybrid architecture separates components between rotationally coupled housing portions to minimize cabling, connectors and materials, and to provide improved durability that supports recycling and reuse of the components. A display coupled in one housing portion integrates a vapor chamber in the display backplate that aligns with a main board central processing unit to dissipate thermal energy to the backplate and through the backplate to the housing.
