  • Publication number: 20230185331
Abstract: A portable information handling system modular hybrid architecture separates components between rotationally coupled housing portions to minimize cabling, connectors and materials, and to provide improved durability that supports recycling and reuse of the components. For example, a plurality of main board configurations provide selectable performance characteristics assembled behind a display in one housing portion and powered by a battery and charger in the other housing portion. A secondary board that supports the charger provides a variety of customizable secondary functions, such as audio processing supported by integrated speakers, a keyboard interfaced with an embedded controller and held by a housing cover.

  • Publication number: 20230185348
Abstract: End users subscribe to use information handling systems having a selected of available performance characteristics defined by a battery configuration selected to build the information handling systems. A manufacturer meets subscriptions with information handling systems built from an inventory of new main batteries, deployed batteries of information handling system in use by subscribers, and separated batteries taken from returned information handling systems and re-used. End user subscriptions are met in part by building replacement information handling systems with separated batteries having a useful life remaining that aligns with end user battery usage patterns tracked over time, benchmarked performance metrics and end user subscription performance characteristics.

  • Patent number: 11650662
Abstract: A portable information handling system rotates a lid housing portion integrating a display from a closed to an open position with a motorized hinge. One or more sensors monitor an end user position during the rotating from the closed to the open position so that the motorized hinge aligns the display with a desired viewing position relative to the end user, such as substantially perpendicular to the end user's gaze. The one or more sensors monitor the end user during usage of the information handling system to adjust the motorized hinge as the end user's position changes relative to the display over time.

  • Patent number: 11632815
Abstract: An information handling system and keyboard automatically coordinate wireless pairing when the keyboard couples to the information handling system to interface contacts exposed at the information handling system housing and the keyboard. The information handling system retrieves an identifier of the keyboard through a contact, determines if the keyboard is already paired, and if not initiates wireless pairing with a command through the contact. A pairing key is provided from the keyboard to the information handling system through the contact and applied by the information handling system to complete pairing. A confirm code is communicated through the contact to the keyboard for communication back to the information handling system by wireless signals. The contacts provide a charging path to charge the keyboard when coupled to the information handling system.

  • Patent number: 11625667
Abstract: In some examples, a server may receive a first order to acquire a product. The server may receive a request to cancel the first order and determine that the product has shipped. The server may determine, based on sensor data received from a sensor of a circuit board in the container, that the container is unopened. After receiving a second order to ship the product to a second location, the server may instruct a courier to transport the product to the second location. For example, if the container is located at the first location, the server may instruct the courier to transport the container from the first location to the second location. If the server determines that the courier is currently transporting the container to the first location, the server may instruct the courier to transport the container to the second location instead of to the first location.

  • Patent number: 11597291
Abstract: A drone-based product delivery mechanism in which power is transferred between the drone's battery and a product's battery while the product is in transit to its destination. For a short distance delivery, the drone battery may be used to charge the product battery so that the product is delivered with a fully-charged battery. On the other hand, for long distance deliveries, the power from a fully-charged product battery may be used to charge the drone's battery to extend the flight time/radius of the drone or to supplement the drone battery to conserve its power. The power transfer may be carried out using a wireless connection or a wired connection. The wireless connection may be a Qi interface, whereas the wired connection may be a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection. The product packaging may be re-designed to allow the desired power transfer between the drone and the product inside the packaging.

  • Patent number: 11596053
Abstract: A printed circuit board (PCB) assembly with a first PCB connected to a second PCB with a flexible interconnect and a vapor chamber for positioning between the first PCB and the second PCB. The flexible interconnect allows the PCB assembly to be in an open configuration or a closed configuration. In the closed configuration, the vapor chamber is between the two PCBs. The flexible interconnect supplies a portion of the electric power from the first PCB to the second PCB and a power connector supplies a second portion of the electric power. Grounding springs allow localized grounding of the PCB assembly. The flexible interconnect, the power connector and the grounding springs provide structural support for the second PCB. The vapor chamber may be longer than the PCBs to draw heat away from components and the flexible interconnect may be used as an airflow guide for improving airflow over components.

  • Patent number: 11586296
Abstract: An information handling system keyboard extends plural feet from a bottom surface to reduce contaminants at the bottom surface that might scratch a touchscreen display and retracts the plural feet when resting on the touchscreen display to place a non-scratch and contaminant free surface against the touchscreen display. In one embodiment, the plural feet automatically retract when in proximity to a display surface, such as in response to a magnetic sensor integrated in the keyboard that senses a magnet integrated in the display or in response to a command from an information handling system having an integrated display on which the keyboard rests. In one embodiment, the keyboard integrates accelerometers to automatically extend the plural feet during accelerations and retract the plural feet when the keyboard rests on a display after accelerations.
