  • Patent number: 10500081
Abstract: In one aspect, an improved ankle joint device provides two stages of dorsiflexion resistance biasing a first splint member (or other attachment member that follows the angular displacement of a wearer's lower leg or foot) against dorsiflexion movement within an active angular range of dorsiflexion, corresponding to second and third rocker phases of a wearer's gait; in addition to a phase of plantarflexion resistance biasing the first splint/attachment member against plantarflexion movement within an active angular range of plantarflexion, corresponding to a first rocker phase. In another aspect, an equilibrium or neutral angle between a wearer's foot and tibia at which the device applies no biasing forces is adjustable by adjusting the angle at which a second splint/attachment member is fixed relative to a joint body. Typically, the second splint member is secured to a wearer's lower leg, and the first splint member is secured to a wearer's foot.

  • Publication number: 20190367953
Abstract: A method and cell line for producing polyketides in yeast. The method applies, and the cell line includes, a yeast cell transformed with a polyketide synthase coding sequence. The polyketide synthase enzyme catalyzes synthesis of olivetol or methyl-olivetol, and may include Dictyostelium discoideum polyketide synthase (“DiPKS”). Wild type DiPKS produces methyl-olivetol only. DiPKS may be modified to produce olivetol only or a mixture of both olivetol and methyl-olivetol. The yeast cell may be modified to include a phosphopantethienyl transferase for increased activity of DiPKS. The yeast cell may be modified to mitigate mitochondrial acetaldehyde catabolism for increasing malonyl-CoA available for synthesizing olivetol or methyl-olivetol.

  • Publication number: 20190361109
Abstract: A system for tracking position of objects in an industrial environment includes an interrogator, a transponder, and a processor. The interrogator transmits a signal and provides a first reference signal corresponding to the transmitted signal. The transponder provides a response signal. The interrogator receives the response signal and provides a second reference signal corresponding to the response signal. The processor determines a location of either the interrogator or the transponder, relative to the other, based on the two reference signals.

  • Patent number: 10481107
Abstract: A scanning apparatus for measuring the attenuation of radiation passing from a radiation source along a radiation path to a radiation detector includes a source of radiation; at least one radiation detector capable of detecting radiation emitted by the source a data processor associated with the at least one radiation detector for calculating a property of material present in a linear radiation path between the source and the at least one detector; and a spacer arranged between the source and the at least one detector. The spacer defines a space which is capable of excluding water and having an average density which is less than 1 gcm?3. The provision of a spacer in the radiation path enables more radiation to be passed along the radiation path because water can be replaced with a material which is less attenuating to radiation.

  • Publication number: 20190327884
Abstract: A spreader includes a frame having wheels mounted on an axle. A gear assembly on the axle is coupled with a shaft. A hopper is mounted on the frame and holds particulate that empties through an opening within the bottom wall. An impeller is mounted on the shaft and receives the particulate emptied from the hopper. A controlled-release assembly is mounted about the shaft and includes a drive housing secured to the hopper. The drive housing has a funnel opening to dispense the particulate therethrough. A transfer wheel within the drive housing is rotatably coupled to the shaft. When the shaft is rotating, the transfer wheel rotates whereby the particulate is delivered to the funnel. When the shaft is stationary, the transfer wheel is stationary whereby particulate is not delivered to the funnel.

  • Publication number: 20190265969
Abstract: Techniques for dynamically building documentation based on installed services are described herein. In an embodiment, a plurality of different electronic documents are stored in a data repository. A server computer system identifies one or more service software components of an application program that have been installed as part of a particular application instance. The server computer identifies a subset of one or more particular documents from the plurality of documents stored in the data repository that correspond to the identified one or more services. Using the subset of one or more particular documents, the server generates a particular customized document which is then stored in association with the particular application instance.

  • Patent number: 10278060
Abstract: A method of managing identities for use in a mobile telecommunications device in a telecommunications network has the following features. The identity management process is triggered and one or more parameters of a currently available mobile telecommunications network detected. An identity database is searched—each record in the identity database comprises an identity and additional identity information for each identity. The additional identity information includes the one or more parameters. The identity management process involves selecting an identity when a first record comprising the one or more parameters detected is found in said searching and modifying an active identity of the mobile telecommunications device to be the selected identity when the active identity is not already the selected identity. This process can be carried out by a subscriber information module of a mobile telecommunications device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for personalizing dialogs are disclosed. A dialog system can provide a user interface to allow a first user to specify a second user to participate in an automated dialog, a specific response option, and a maximum time period for responding. The dialog system can send a message to the second user with the specific response option. The dialog system can branch the dialog based on the occurrence of an event or combination of events occurring in conjunction the second user. In a first branch, the dialog system is configured to send a second communication to the second user using a second communications channel, the second communication containing the specific response option. In a second branch, the dialog system is further configured to execute a third instruction associated with the dialog.
