  • Publication number: 20090200692
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a silicon hydrogel gel contact lens having a hydrophilic surface is provided, whereby a hydrophilic biomedical material such as, HEMA, GMA, GMMA, NVP, MAA, MMA, PVA, PU, HA, collagen, chitosan, polydextrose, etc. is combined with a surface of a soft silicone gel or a silicone hydrogel material to form a sandwiched structure of a body of a contact lens. With this method, the surface of the soft silicone gel or the silicone hydrogel material can be completely coated with the hydrophilic biomedical material, so that a hydrophobic silicone dry spot on the surface resulting from a hydrophobic silicone component in the soft silicone gel or silicone hydrogel material is completely coated. Thus, a contact lens having a completely hydrophilic surface and a high oxygen-permeability is formed, which can be more comfortably worn for a longer time.

  • Publication number: 20090035165
Abstract: The present invention provides an addressable multi-channel peristaltic pump. According to the invention, this pump design allows for selection and operation of one or more pump heads on a drive shaft, while locking other non-selected pump heads in a stationary position. It is possible to operate the multi-channel pump using a limited number of motors, preferably two motors: a selector motor and a dispense motor. Thus, the pump provides for pumping or dispensing of one or more fluids without the need for multiple pumps. Likewise, compared with typical single motor multi-channel systems, where all pump heads on the drive shaft must rotate at the same time, the present invention provides for selective dispensing of one or more fluids. The pumps of the present invention are suitable for any multiple fluid transfer application, including in automated multi-channel reagent dispensing systems, such as nucleic acid purification systems.

  • Publication number: 20070117507
Abstract: A direct conversion satellite tuner is fully integrated on a common substrate. The integrated tuner receives an RF signal having a plurality of channels and down-converts a selected channel directly to baseband for further processing. The integrated tuner includes on-chip local oscillator generation, tunable baseband filters, and DC Offset cancellation. The integrated tuner can be implemented in a completely differential I/Q configuration for improved electrical performance. The entire direct conversion satellite tuner can be fabricated on a single semiconductor substrate using standard CMOS processing, with minimal off-chip components. • Publication number: 20070077908
Abstract: An integrated receiver with channel selection and image rejection substantially implemented on a single CMOS integrated circuit is described. A receiver front end provides programable attenuation and a programable gain low noise amplifier. Frequency conversion circuitry advantageously uses LC filters integrated onto the substrate in conjunction with image reject mixers to provide sufficient image frequency rejection. Filter tuning and inductor Q compensation over temperature are performed on chip. The filters utilize multi track spiral inductors. The filters are tuned using local oscillators to tune a substitute filter, and frequency scaling during filter component values to those of the filter being tuned. In conjunction with filtering, frequency planning provides additional image rejection. The advantageous choice of local oscillator signal generation methods on chip is by PLL out of band local oscillation and by direct synthesis for in band local oscillator.
