  • Publication number: 20170276633
Abstract: Non-enzymatic approaches to measuring glucose are based on the direct oxidation of glucose using unmodified copper metal electrodes. A potential is applied to a copper measurement/working electrode, which potential is monitored by a separate reference electrode and the current within the system is balanced with a counter electrode. The presence of the ionized glucose in the sample can then be determined electrochemically. Disclosed herein are methods, devices, and test systems which utilise this novel approach.

  • Patent number: 9707019
Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide systems and methods for vertebral reduction using sleeves detachably coupled to collars of bone fasteners. The reduction can be performed during a minimally invasive procedure for implanting spinal stabilization systems. A sleeve can include internal threads that match threads on the respective collar to form a continuous set of threads. Threads on a closure member can be engaged with the threads on the sleeve and the closure member turned to translate the closure member along the sleeve. The closure member can be used to push a rod relative to the collar to which the sleeve is attached to cause a vertebral body to move.

  • Patent number: 9693410
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems are disclosed herein for projecting lighting effects (124, 224, 324, 424) carrying light messages onto surfaces. A first of one or more light-emitting diodes (LEDs, 554) of a lighting fixture (120, 220, 320, 420, 520) may be selectively energized to produce a first coded light signal conveying a first light message associable with a first location. Light emitted from the first LED may be projected onto a first surface, e.g., as a spatially-limited lighting effect. In some embodiments, a second of the one or more LEDs of the lighting fixture may be selectively energized to produce a second coded light signal conveying a second light message associable with a second location distinct from the first location. Light emitted from the second LED may be projected onto the first surface or a second surface. Alternatively, lighting effects of various shapes and hues may convey information.

  • Publication number: 20170180832
Abstract: A communication module uses information received from a metrology module within the same network device and information about the properties of the specific metrology module, such as supply capacity and pulse volume, to determine when an error condition exits. The communication module accumulates pulses during an accumulation interval and compares the number of pulses accumulated during the accumulation interval to a threshold number of pulses to determine whether an error condition exists. If there is an error condition, then the communication module generates an alert and may transmit the alert without waiting for a scheduled communication.

  • Publication number: 20170165542
Abstract: A lightweight compression molded multicolor golf grip having at least a first section and a second section of differing colors and composed of elastomer compounds having a density of less than 0.90 g/cc, and joined by cross-linking across a sharply defined cross-color interface having an interface transition zone beyond which there is no mixing of the colors. The grip has a soft feel and unique compression characteristics achieved in some embodiments through the controlled use of an expanding blowing agent in a rubber compound including an EPDM mixture. Achieving the sharply defined cross-color interface is due in part to the use of complementary geometries at opposing interface edges to increase the stability of the interface and reduce the flow during molding associated with the increased viscosity of low density rubber compounds, promote cross-linking of the sections, and better distribute and control the consolidation pressure.

  • Patent number: 9676094
Abstract: A flexible tubular elastomeric grip for an implement to be manually swung with force and speed, such as a golf club is provided. A flexible tubular member molded of elastomeric material has an open end for receiving the club shaft with a hardness in the range of 38-55 on the Shore “A” scale and has a substantially closed end which has a greater hardness in the range of 65-100 on the Shore “A” scale. The closed end may be integrally molded with the tubular member or as one piece or formed pre-cured and adhesively received in the cavity after molding. An open cavity formed in the closed end has received therein an insert which may be a transducer, RFID tag, tracking device, speed/acceleration sensor or decorative item. In one version, a peripheral rim lip retains and secures the insert in the cavity. In another version, inwardly extending arms are formed integrally with the flexible tubular member to retain and secure the insert.

  • Publication number: 20170129232
Abstract: An inverted double dome double vacuum debulk tool having separable upper and lower chamber portions which can be assembled to form a vacuum chamber. In accordance with some embodiments, the top and bottom halves each comprise a circular cylindrical sidewall closed at one end by an inverted dome. The domes may be hemispherical or semi-elliptical with convex sides facing the chamber interior space. A base plate on which the composite patch rests is removable from the vacuum chamber. Various fittings pass electrical power and vacuum into the tool and sensor outputs out of the tool.
