  • Patent number: 10311525
Abstract: A social networking system classifies content items according to their qualities for ranking and selection of content items to present to users within, for example, a newsfeed. Low-quality content items that are unlikely to be interesting or relevant to a user may be distinguished though they may appear to be popular among users in the social networking system. The social networking system identifies within the content items one or more features that are indicators of the quality of the content items. The social networking system can use one or more classifiers to evaluate the content items based on the features, and it can compute a quality metric indicating the quality of a content item based on the result obtained from the classifiers. The quality metric can be used in the ranking and selection of a set of content items to provide to the user.

  • Publication number: 20190137219
Abstract: Various techniques are described herein for controlling autonomous and semi-autonomous motorized weapons systems. In various embodiments, semi-autonomous motorized weapons systems may perform automated target identification, selection and prioritization techniques. Dynamic target tracking may be performed, for both primary and secondary targets, in cases of stationary and moving targets and weapon systems. A motorized weapon system then may be actuated automatically toward a firing solution target point, during which the operator-controlled firing mechanism may be enabled or disabled based on the projected point of impact of the weapon in comparison to a determined boundary area associated with the target.

  • Patent number: 10270885
Abstract: Systems and techniques for deploying resources within a computing infrastructure are herein disclosed as comprising, in an implementation, executing a first deployment agent to perform a first deployment action, the first deployment agent configured to deploy a first resource to a first device; changing a deployment state of the first deployment agent responsive to performing the first deployment action; and executing a second deployment agent to perform a second deployment action, the second deployment agent configured to deploy a second resource to a second device. The second deployment agent performs the second deployment action in response to a change in a deployment state of an arbitrary deployment agent not explicitly identified within the second deployment agent. A deployment plan configured to cause the execution of the first and second deployment agents includes an identification of the first deployment agent as the arbitrary deployment agent.

  • Patent number: 10247500
Abstract: A modular bolt assembly may include a bolt body, a striker assembly, and one or more removable bolt, head having a floating fixing pin, The removable bolt head may have a cartridge engagement surface, a back end that removably mates with a bolt body, and a floating firing pin with a front end that contacts a cartridge primer, and a rear end that receives force from the striker assembly. Bolt heads may be included for different caliber cartridges, allowing the modular bolt assembly to be used with different types of ammunition, the floating firing pin prevents the striker assembly from directly contacting a chambered round without the bolt head, thereby preventing catastrophic failure during use if a boll head is not present and properly positioned.

  • Patent number: 10216803
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes retrieving a plurality of comments associated with a content object on a social-networking system, determining a score for each of the comments, wherein the score is based on one or more signals associated with the comment, and where the signals are related to the identity of an author of the comment or content of the comment, ordering the comments based on the respective scores, and presenting one or more of the ordered comments to a target user. The method may further include excluding one or more of the comments based on a filtering condition. One of the signals may be based on how many times the comment has been (a) liked, (b) hidden, (c) marked as spam, or (d) replied to within a specified period of time. One of the signals may be based on a reputation of the author of the comment.

  • Patent number: 10152544
Abstract: Some embodiments include a method of detecting and analyzing virally propagating subject matter in a social networking system. The method includes processing user activities in the social networking system through a relevancy filter to identify a subset of user activities that are relevant to a viral propagation study. The social networking system can construct, in response to selecting a user activity as a graph exploration seed, a user activity cascade by exploring the social graph in the social networking system, starting from a social network node corresponding to the user activity. The user activity cascade can comprise social network nodes found during the graph exploration. The social networking system can determine that the user activity cascade is virally propagating based at least upon a total size of the user activity cascade.

  • Publication number: 20180336720
Abstract: Images of the face of a subject are captured by an imaging system comprising at least three directional energy sources (e.g. a light sources), and an imaging assembly which captures the images from spatially separated viewpoints. Each eye portion of the face is modelled using specular reflections (“glints”) in at least some of the images to fit the parameters of a three-dimensional parameterized model of the eye surface. Additionally, using at least some the images, a photometric modelling process generates a second model of a skin and/or hair portion of the face. A face model is produced by combining the second model and the eye models. The resulting face model may be used to generate images of the face in relation to an object intended to be used in proximity to the face, such as an item of eyewear. The face model may also be used to design and produce the object.

  • Publication number: 20180321926
Abstract: Systems and methods are directed to release tools and deployment tools for software applications. A computing device includes a processor operatively coupled to a memory. The processor identifies one or more environments and a plurality of deployment operations to be performed to deploy a software application to the one or more environments. The processor generates a deployment plan having instructions to execute the one or more deployment operations. The processor executes the deployment plan to deploy the one or more release environments. The processor sends signals to a display to display progression through the deployment plan during deployment of the one or more release environments.

  • Publication number: 20180316754
Abstract: A system for provisioning resources within a computer network includes a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to cause the processor to identify a set of properties associated with a resource type based on a configuration item representative of a resource within a configuration management database (CMDB), determine a subset of the set of properties based on one or more deployment rules, wherein the subset of the set of properties comprises one or more properties of a parent configuration item of the configuration item, and provision, via a deployment agent, a new resource of the computer network, wherein the new resource has the subset of the set of properties.

  • Patent number: 10063513
Abstract: A social networking system generates stories based on actions of users in the system and provides a newsfeed to users that contain stories that related to one or more of their friends in the system. Although the story ranking algorithm includes a time decay to penalize older stories, stories may actually become stale at different rates. To measure the staleness of a story, the system computes a ratio of a current engagement rate for the story to an average engagement rate for the story. Based on this ratio, the system may filter out stale stories, includes the ratio as a feature in the scoring model, and/or adjust the decay rate.

  • Patent number: 10057199
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes retrieving a plurality of comments associated with a content object, determining a score for each of the comments, where the score is based on one or more signals associated with the comment, and where the score is further based on a qualitative analysis of each of one or more impressions related to the comment, and wherein each of the impressions comprises an interaction by a historical user with the comment, ordering the comments based on the respective scores, presenting one or more of the ordered comments to a target user. The qualitative analysis may determine a category of interaction for the impression, the score may be based at least in part on the category of interaction, and the category of interaction may include user input related to the comment, such as a reply to the comment.

  • Publication number: 20180214660
Abstract: A humidification system comprises a first sensor and a second sensor. The first and second sensors are adapted to sense flow characteristics within the system. The first and second sensors are isolated from the flow by barriers formed by respective first and second sealing members. The sealing members extend through apertures formed in the system and have a portion that contacts the sensing elements of the respective first and second sensors. A cartridge can hold the sensors and provide repeatable penetration depths into a flow passage of the system. A medical tube has a composite structure made of two or more distinct components that are spirally wound to form an elongate tube. One component can be a spirally wound elongate hollow body; the other component can be an elongate structural component spirally wound between turns of the spirally wound hollow body.
